How dumb is it to withdraw from my IRA early?

I opened traditional and ROTH IRA accounts right after college, but also had a 401k at the job I got shortly thereafter.

It’s been 20 years now, and a lot has changed - namely that my wife and I both have jobs with pension plans.

Those IRAs I opened 20 years ago have not had any contributions made for the last 10 years or so, because I have been on a pension track for the last 13 years.

I am tempted to eat the 10% penalty and trust that my pension (plus my wife’s pension) will be adequate to retire comfortably, but I honestly don’t know how much we will need to live comfortably in retirement…

I know the conservative move is to wait, but is it always foolish to just leave that money sitting when it could be helpful now?

Strong hardening fluid

Trying to think of a material that I can use to fill voids in a steel column I am building for a project.

The idea is to augment the strength of the 1” steel tubing that I have welded together lengthwise, while also filling the void to prevent anything from falling into the tubing…

I initially considered molten aluminum, but the internet says that combination will make the steel brittle, actually reducing the strength… concrete would be easy enough, but a liquid resin or molten plastic(?) might be just as good, and lighter. Weight isn’t a big concern, but part of the idea was to recycle some aluminum cans or plastic bottle caps, while also adding a little strength.

Uses for vacuum cleaner motor

The plastic frame of my Dyson vacuum cleaner is broken. No longer useful as a vacuum, but is mechanically still functional.

Considering use the motor to power a blower for a waste oil burner, or going totally the other direction and having it power a home built electric scooter… (assuming I can find cheap batteries to wire in series to 110 volts…)

Better ideas?

Attic vent fans?

1988 construction in northern Ohio. Remodel and vaulted master bedroom have me cooking all summer…

My master bedroom, master bath, and walk-in closet all have sloped ceilings, due to the height of the ceilings and the pitch of my roof. I strongly suspect my ceiling is not adequately insulated, and/or my attic is not sufficiently vented to allow the hot air out, and keep my bedroom comfortable.

I can access the back side of two of my bedroom walls to see that they are very insulated. (Garage attic is on the other side of my bedroom/closet wall)

The ceiling of my room has no attic space above it. I would punch whoever designed that… but I think my best option is to vent out the hot air with powered fans on a thermostat switch.

Good idea? Other options?

Roof is 2 years old, so there is ridge vent, but apparently not enough 🤦🏻‍♂️
