An apartment I did with a secret cat worshipping witch room.

I wanted to do a moody synth wave/ neon light type style. The camera drives me nuts, even with sensible camera mod. Throws you up and down or across the map, really hard to angle properly, etc. I hope they improve the camera soon. It would be cool if the custom images you use in pictures and rugs etc would save when you upload the lot. Even if its just frozen in the item and if you tried to change it would disappear, or have it auto upload into your game folder when downloading. The pentagram and heart I made with transparent background, I like how you can do that and change the shape etc.

Made a mod that makes your para pass out instead of die.

The mod prevents your paras from dying when their sleep reaches zero. Instead it cancels their current interaction and makes them do the death pose animation. They pass out for abut 30 in game minutes. You can cancel the death pose. After they regain consciousness, if they don't sleep or replenish their sleep to at least one bar, they will pass out again in about 50 in game minutes. They will gain extra uncomfortable and stressed buffs, plus a delirious buff. The delirious buff prevents them from learning any skills that are allowed when really stressed. You can remove the buffs as soon as you sleep/replenish at least one bar.

I was not able to get the mod to replenish sleep while they were passed out. No matter what I tried, it would always keep them at one bar and would prevent them from passing out in the first place.

Can't find where I can replace this if that's even possible.

I know how to change the colors of some UI stuff like needs, together cards, etc. I have the assets extracted and I want to recolor some of these icons and import them into the game. Couldn't find it in the mod tools in game and not sure if I can add it to the game files somehow if it's not possible doing it in game. Sorry for the bad photo.

Quick mod tutorial. Change the color of the needs UI and adjust needs easily! Like sleep decay etc.

Here's a video I made showing you how you can change the Needs UI colors and how to adjust needs such as rates of decay, max bars etc. I used sleep for the example because I feel like my para has to sleep too often. The UI color change is easy to type out so that's below if you don't want to watch the video. I was going to include how to add more want slots but I didn't want the video too long. I will make that later if anyone is interested, now that I'm not scared of my voice recording lol. This is really easy and quick to do. I've been enjoying learning how to mod this game. Although one I'm working on is becoming frustrating lol.

For Needs UI color change:

  1. Load the game. Go to mods and create a new mod. Name it something like Needs UI color change or something.

  2. Click on edit mod on your new mod you just created

  3. Click on control panel in the top right. In the search bar type needs, or scroll down to personality and identity and it is under that category.

  4. Click on needs.

  5. Down at the bottom it will say colors. Click on the boxes with the hex code (hash tags and letters. These codes are the same for everything that allows you to pick colors with hex codes such as Photoshop etc).

  6. Change the color to what you want. Do it for each one you want to change.

  7. Once you are done, click on my mods. Then click stop editing mod. Make sure your mod is turned on. Go back to the main game screen and load your game. You should see your new colors.

I did this with the plumbob colors in the Sims which is still easy to do and isn't labeled as a mod. It's done through the games ini file. Anyways, paralives makes this really really easy lol.

Cute bee decided to grace me with its presence

Later in the day, this bee decided to set up shop on my AC hose. It didn't want to move. I had to close my window later when it started to get dark and I had no sugar water. It spent the night and was able to fly away this morning. Bees are so cute.

I made some art for anyone to use in the game. I used JWildfire, it is not AI and doesn't use AI. I will post the Imgur link to download more.

I made some space pics for the astronomer paras (I actually do astrophotography in real life), some abstract art, and a few patterns. Feel free to download and use in your game. The imgur link is below as reddit only allows 20 images.

I made a post about a week ago about using JWildfire to make art. I have used this program for over 10 years. It is free on their website or you can support the developers and get it for like $10 on Steam. Only need to learn the basics to get good images or animations.

Make your own art for custom wall art, not AI. I included some originals if you want to download them to use in your game. Free software.

I wanted to share how to make some custom art for the game. It's using fractal software that I've used for over 10 years. It's not AI and it doesn't use AI. This is mostly applicable for abstract type art and space/nebula/galaxy type art. You can also make patterns like shown on the pillow. You can also make really cool animations! You don't need to use other software like Photoshop unless you want to tweak stuff etc. You don't need to be creative to make really cool images. Every one you create is unique.

This specific software is my favorite. It's completely free if you download on the official website, or you can get it on Steam for like $10 if you want to support the developers. It's called JWildfire. There is a small learning curve to do basics like shown here. It's actually easy once you get the basics down. There are videos on YouTube to help get you started. It can look intimidating but you don't need to know how everything works and you don't need to use all the options to get great images. It's trial and error, tweaking numbers, moving triangles, and using built in scripts and the generators. Or you can make your own from scratch. It's really just pushing some buttons and playing around to see what you like, then render the image. It saves as a png. You can save hdr with it if you want that to edit in Photoshop etc. You can set the size/dimensions and quality that is built in plus make your own custom settings.

When I first started using fractal software, including this one, it could take FOREVER to render images depending on the flame/fractal, size, and quality. It's so much better now with better computers and the software being better optimized. I recommend using a small image size like 800x800 pixels etc and a medium quality setting (quickly renders) just to see how it looks, then you can adjust from there if needed. You don't need to render huge images for paralives or Sims etc. You can make big ones if you want to print or just make desktop backgrounds etc.

My scorpion vivarium. Possible ID?

I've randomly got mushrooms popping up in my tanks and houseplants over the years. Usually yellow ones. About 8-9 months ago, I had an explosion of mycelium that covered the substrate and my background etc, which includes cement sealer lol. It went away and nothing happened. Now, I got some pins a few days ago, and today this is what I got. They are so pretty!

Newb. Is she going to have shrimplets?

The best pic I could get but it looked like possible developing shrimplets when she swam by. And for the record, shrimplets is the cutest name for a baby animal lol.

Decent size golden teacher.

My cake is pretty much done I think. I get a few mushrooms here and there. I thought this one was pretty big.

Any scientific or anecdotal ways to increase potency in home grows?

Just curious if there are any ways to increase the potency of a grow, either UV, other stress, temps, substrate etc. Or any urban legends around it?

I had a large first harvest but I didn't harvest some in time and those ones dropped spores everywhere. I didn't think I would get anymore but I did eventually. Is this the best time to harvest?

u/DaezaD — 2 months ago

I was not expecting as many mushrooms as I got. My dehydrator is small and full. My oven only goes to 170 farenheit for its lowest temperature.

u/DaezaD — 2 months ago

I'm excited they are growing and I didn't fuck it up lol. I know you are supposed to harvest them all at the same time but I'm worried some of the bigger ones (like the one against the side in pic 2) will mature too much and release spores before the majority of the rest are ready. Is it ok to harvest a few larger ones if needed or should I leave them and wait?
