The wife and I are buying our first house, and I would really like to be able to target shoot in the backyard. Besides the obvious legal aspects and being safe with a good backstop, what should I be looking for?
How many acres would you say is the minimum you need, not legally, but more just not being a shitty neighbor? Any towns you would recommend avoiding due to the local police being hostile to target shooting?
I have been looking for houses that have the backyard open up onto state land or other large tracts of forest, but they are not as common as I would have hoped. Location is pretty flexible as we both work from home, but would like to stay close-ish to family in Nashua.
Bonus points if you target shoot in your backyard and have any tips for me on how you go about doing it.
Are there any women’s shelters accepting clothing donations nearby? My wife has a bunch of business attire she would like to donate. Clothing that is good for job interviews or office work. Looking for a place that would get more use out if it then just dumping it in one of the clothing collection bins on the side of the road.
Has anyone recently had a Form 1 approved with listing a D-Cell threaded Tube on the materials list? Especially one that was from one of the various websites or Ebay selling "tubes" only? Not talking solvent trap kits or anything like that, just literally a threaded Titanium D-Cell Tube.
Yes, I know you can just say "I don't possess any plans or materials..." and get the Form 1 approved. But some things I have read about the ATF letter from 2023 is sketching me out. Especially the sections stating parts have to be made from raw materials only and any prefabricated parts that could be a suppressor are a suppressor.
I'd prefer to have it stated in black and white on the Form 1 itself, saying its ok. Just in case we have an ATF regime change in the future, and they decide to be much harsher on all of these Form 1 suppressor approvals going through recently.
I am going to be moving pretty soon and I still have not built a suppressor from an approved form 1. Can I build the suppressor after I move even though it will have my old city info? Or do I need to update the form 1 with the ATF before I can build it in my new town? All the posts about this topic are about SBRs and have not seen anything regarding suppressors.
The move will be staying in the same state, just a new town.
Hello friends. Hoping someone with experience building the Big Point / Master Point built off a .45 Hipoint parts kit could help me out.
Been tinkering with this build for 6 weeks now and just can’t get it to work. No matter what I do, I cannot get the sear cam bar to actually lower the sear when the trigger is pulled. The trigger bar goes up against the sear cam bar and just freezes. It’s a dead trigger no matter how hard I pull.
I am able to actuate the sear manually by hand by pushing down on it. I am also able to have it engage the firing pin when the sear cam bar is removed. Everything functions except the sear cam bar. I installed the sear saver as was recommended, but that did not fix the issue. It’s like the sear cam bar just can’t move and get the leverage it needs to actually pull the sear down. It almost feels like the whole sear and cam bar should be moved up and forward a few millimeters on the frame.
Is it possible the geometry is off on the big point file? Has anyone successfully built one?
I recently had my first Form 1 approved for a 3D-printed suppressor. For the model, I selected N/A, and for the description, I stated: "I do not have any plans or materials and will not acquire any until the Form 1 is approved". For the additional details page, I uploaded a stock picture of a 3D printer and some generic filament from Amazon.
My question is if I want to use other build materials, such as an aluminum sleeve or a mounting device, do I need to update the Form 1 as long as it stays at the same overall length?
did I hit it big?
I am building a master point from a hi point JHP 45 build kit and I can’t get the sear to hold the striker firing pin. Every time I rack the slide the sear drops as the slide moves forward which I assume would cause a run away if it was loaded.
the sear and sear cam bar seem to be properly installed (see pic 2), but looking at the sear from the back and top view it seems the sear is tilted to the right side. This is caused by the sear cam bar only being on the right side of the frame. I am assuming this cant is why the sear is not holding the firing pin properly.
Has anyone run into a similar issue with the hi point sear and how did you fix it?
.22lr for scale, milsurp cartridge came in brown paper tied with a string. has a silver dipped tip. head stamp has basically nothing on it.
I am building out my AC Unity kit I got from the PSA deal last week, and I would like to tuck a 9mm can under the handguard. The problem is that the FTN is too chunky to fit under the handguard, which has an ID of 30 MM or 1.2". I was wondering if anyone knows of either a slim can that can tuck under the handguard, or a chunky handguard that can fit over the FTN, or a combination of both?
In case you missed it, ATF just posted 34 new rules and regulations that seem like pretty big wins for the 2A community and Milsurp in general. The two big ones that apply to us are
1: "Remove the list of former soviet countries from which the ATF currently denies applications to permanently import most firearms and ammunition."
Cheap ammo and more milsurp caches will open up for import, especially when the Ukraine war eventually ends.
2: "ATF is proposing to clarify that Federal Firearms Licensees may lawfully import firearm barrels and frames/receivers capable of being used on both sporting and non-sporting firearms, provided that an identified sporting configuration for the barrel or frame/receiver exists at the time of importation. The proposed rule also clarifies that once lawfully imported, a dual-use barrel or frame/receiver may be incorporated into the assembly of a sporting, non-sporting, or NFA-regulated firearm, subject to compliance with all other applicable federal firearms laws."
It will now be easier to import parts kits and barrels
