Has anyone used them? At $10/dz would they be OK practice balls?

This is a ridiculous 190m par 3 at the course I played at today. I dead set nearly missed a 3w and sprayed it right into the penalty area (red line). We all saw it go in there. I drop a ball on the front tee box (yellow) and play it up short of the green.

As I'm walking to my ball, I find my first ball in the middle of the fairway. There are some rocks on the far side of the hazard, and we can only assume it must've hit one of them and bounced back. I play it, but my playing partners (three old dudes) tell me it's dead because I didn't declare a provisional. Sure, I'm pretty sure you're technically right, but ffs man. I'm 20 points through 16 holes. Surely at some point you can just acknowledge I'm not trying to be disingenuous or cheat or anything, I just got the most arse I've had in 18 months.

If you're a rules stickler like this, why bro?
