I made a post yesterday about a Gundam 7th conversion kit, and one of the things I bemoaned was the half a kit I had left over.

Doing some clean up today, and decided to snap fit what I could to see what was left, and honestly kind of amazing. Another way of looking at this is that the G07 conversion replaces all of these parts.

I'm kind of tempted to see if I can't do an RG 0.5 with these pieces. Maybe a KO HGGTO gramps might benefit from this, and I wouldn't feel too bad about the leftover parts from that.

Man, working on this really brings home the fact that for me, HGs really are my comfort zone.

This build had poor fitting parts that required some snipping of the inner frame to get to fit flush. Also, to get it accurate to the Katoki redesign (which this seems based on), you need to add some stuff.

Also, one piece went flying and I have yet to find it. Maybe you can spot the missing piece? (Picture 7 has the best view.)

This build also drew blood, in the form of a slipped knife right into the tip of my thumb.

Still, I can't deny the end result, which does look fantastic.

I need a decompression build after this.

107 Studio Gundam 7th conversion of an RG 2.0 RX-78-2

This kit has everything. Poor fitment, cheap-feeling plastic (blue, red, yellow; white parts felt solid), confusing instructions, mislabeled decal guide, and at the 11th hour, a piece that went off flying into the aether, and a hobby knife into the thumb for copious amounts of bleeding.

I haven't been this frustrated and this satisfied with a build in a long time. This marks my second attempt at pre-shading, and it's definitely something I'll keep doing on kits I paint.

On the other hand, I'm glad to put this build behind me as it was just endless rounds of figuring out why something wasn't fitting flush.

Also, given the cost, I'm honestly not sure that buying a whole other RG 2.0 and this conversion kit, which ended up costing me about $85 CAD was worth it when there's a PBandai HG 7th that doesn't leave me with half an RG I can't really do anything with.

I think my next build will be something simple. That Lightning Buster HG is looking like a nice relaxing build.
