I prefer snare cords to straps, but they can be expensive and poor quality.

I prefer snare cords as they help keep the snares parallel and are easier to set up properly as they “self adjust”. But, snare cords can be over priced and many that I have tried stretch or fail pretty quickly. I found Kevlar kite line to work very well and be affordable as well. I It seems unbreakable and (so far) doesn’t stretch. I bought “Kevlar Line” braided cord 30 feet 10m MBS 300 pound off Amazon. It should be enough to do over 30 drums for around 10 dollars. Oh, and it comes in black!

pAisTe pst 7s aren’t a poor man’s 2oo2.

The poor man’s 2oo2 is the 505. I picked up a few PST 7s to try out (an 18 crash and 19 thin crash). They are very pretty looking but they do not the complexity and long decay of a 2oo2. I guess I was hoping for a miracle at a bargain price. The PST 7s have fairly few hammer marks as I assume this is why they are a bit clangy and only have one sound when crashed when my 602s and 2oo2s have many sounds. FOr beginners these would be fine, but experienced players will likely be disappointed. There are no free rides.

Just sharing my observations as a long-time pAisTe player.

Why doesn’t pAisTe offer the Sound Creation Dark Ride again?

They have the 602 Bronze available again, so they could do it. That model is considered legendary and highly collectable. They brought back the 602 and Giant Beats… so why not?

Any chance Arrow sends out replacement discs for the Jackie Chan Breakout hits?

Some of these movies have known problems. I could not watch the HK cut of Rumble in the Bronx no matter what I tried. It’s an expensive set and clearly some discs weren’t authored properly. But Arrow is known for having terrible support after the sale, so I guess not! They never fixed Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 did they?

Do the pAisTe monad and Rythmatist cymbals sound different from each other?

They are both based on the Signature Dry Heavy rude, and both a have color added to the surface. I haven’t heard them both side-by-side in person. I also find it odd that the Dry Heavy Ride was discoed the have these versions instead.

Mystery Paiste -? Identification

I have a PAISTE cymbal that appears to be a Sound Formula or Signature 18 crash. IT has several patents listed under the bell. I think only those two series listed this information under the bell. IT says MADE IN GERMANY and that is all I can read. After a bit of cleaning, the color seems more like B15 than B8. Any help in identification would be helpful. the serial number is six digits beginning with 86 and the stamped logo is simple and looks like-PAISTE not pAisTe. My guess is a Sound Formula.
