Build questions

Hello! I'm a Milio player in the low Diamond/high Emerald tier, and I checked out the builds of high-elo players to try to better understand itemization. I came away with these questions:

- How does the Oblivion Orb trigger on Milio? It seems to me that it doesn’t trigger through shields or on allies’ passives, which means you’d have to use an auto-attack or an Q to trigger it, which doesn’t seem ideal to me. But I see a lot of people doing this at higher ELOs, so I’d like to understand why.

- Also, I thought Echo of Helia wasn’t an optimal item since Milio doesn’t deal much damage, but I see it used a lot at higher ELOs, what do you think about it ?

- I’m having a hard time seeing how the Diadem of Songs can be more effective, even in long fights, than the Moonstone.

- As for the Dawncore, I rarely see a situation where I can build it; I always feel like there are better options, so I don’t really understand when it’s actually better than other items.

- I usually play Dream Maker or Celestial Opposition when there are assassins, but I’ve seen people play Solstice’s Sleigh, and I don’t understand when it’s better than the first two.

- Finally, I thought Moonstone was an essential item that you should always build first or second, but I see that some people don't build it at all in certain games. And once again, it seems so effective in every situation that I don't see why anyone wouldn't build it at all.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Lulu build

Hi, everyone! I'm looking for tips and advice on Lulu, because I've realized that I'm always using the same build, which isn't ideal. So I'd like to know how to adjust my items/runes depending on the situation. Thank you !

Confused about Bard's build

Hi, everyone! I’ve checked out quite a few tips on Bard builds, including a fairly recent video by Lathyrus where he talks about the “main core” build and situational items. I thought the main core was always the way to go in every game (Deadman’s Plate, Locket, and Imperial Mandate) and that you should adapt the fourth item based on the situation. BUT I later saw in several of his short videos that, in reality, he often just builds Deadman’s Plate in every game and then goes for a bunch of situational items. In your opinion, is this the right approach? Are the Locket and Imperial Mandate no longer good items for Bard? When should you stick with them instead of switching straight to situational items?

Also, he mentions a build with just the Locket and Imperial Mandate as core items, paired with Swiftness Boots and the Solstice Sleigh to provide more “peel” and less damage (and to prioritize Cosmic Insight in runes over Jack of All Trades). I haven’t tested it yet because I feel like it has a slightly smaller impact, especially on early trades, etc. what do you think about this?

Thank you !

Is this character development believable?

Hello.

I’m currently writing a novel and would like to get feedback from someone with a background in psychology to ensure the consistency and credibility of my character’s development. Or, if you don’t have that background, just let me know if this character development strikes you as odd or not.

To give some context, this is for a writing challenge I’m participating in, and my prompt was to create a character who dates a member of the mafia. Since I rarely read stories with this kind of theme, I’ll admit I’m having a hard time picturing how someone ends up dating a member of the mafia...

He’s a fairly rational person, not particularly sociable, but very attached to the few close friends he’s let into his inner circle. He finds his life very monotonous; passionate about literature (which he studies, by the way) and especially crime novels, he dreams of conducting criminal investigations.

My character witnesses a murder on his way home. He panics, runs away, and calls the police. Once he’s calmed down, I describe him as developing a sort of detachment from what he saw, a form of dissociation. He’s a bit apathetic and no longer fully realizes what he witnessed. In fact, as the weeks go by, he becomes curious about the murder and tries to investigate it himself, despite the dangers involved.

This leads the character to meet the guy who took part in the murder he witnessed. At first, he’s afraid of him, but when he sees that the other guy isn’t going to hurt him, he becomes interested in him, and little by little, the two fall in love with each other despite the dangers of being together.

Do you think this behavior is psychologically explainable and “believable,” or not at all?

Are there any psychological processes that might explain the emotional detachment that follows a traumatic event, and then the desire to investigate?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to understand a psychological reaction to trauma for a fiction project, but my question is more about the psychology behind it than about writing advice.

I was wondering about what might happen psychologically after someone witnesses a violent crime, such as a murder.

Let's say someone sees a murder unexpectedly. Their first reaction is panic: they run away, call the police, and are obviously overwhelmed by what happened. But after the initial shock passes, they start feeling strangely disconnected from the event. They don't necessarily forget it, but it feels distant, almost unreal, and they become less emotionally affected by it over time.

Then, after a few weeks, something changes: instead of only feeling fear or wanting to avoid thinking about it, they become curious about what happened. They start wanting to understand the crime and piece together what occurred, even though they know it could potentially put them in danger.

Is this kind of progression something that could happen psychologically? Are there known reactions to trauma that could explain the shift from fear and emotional detachment to curiosity or a desire to understand the event?

I'm especially interested in whether concepts like dissociation, emotional numbing, coping mechanisms, or trauma responses could be relevant here, and if there is any research or literature on this topic.

Thanks!
