do your narc parents have no hobbies

seeing my narc parents just rotting their lives away in front of the tv with no hobbies, no friends honestly makes me feel sorry for them sometimes…what’s the psychology behind them never doing anything? they cook like shit, can’t find even a single sport to make them healthy not even walking for fucksake. why cant they try new things. they literally can just try a new restaurant, go explore places but they choose to stare at their phone scrolling through reels on facebook.

need suggestions for books on science fiction

hello! i'm 25f and starting to get interested in science fiction. since i was a teenager, most of the books i read usually leans into classical literature, philosophy, non-fiction. and now, due to existential dread and the typical mid 20s experience of figuring things out, i'm trying to create meaning in my life through magic and looking beyond my mundane routines and the best way to do that is to look beyond my own experience. anyways, the only book i've read that relates to science as far as i recall is:

  • Hyperspace by Michio Kaku - really enjoyed this since it implements literary references also i just love the creative writing here too in a non-fiction kind of way that makes it understandable given my background is in philosophy and technology

i would really love to get into more sci-fi. i just bought Project Hail Mary today by Andy Weir given that i watched the film recently and loved it. or what else would you recommend given everything i have shared? open to stuff like Frankenstein by Mary Shelley or the Dune series by Frank Herbert. would love to know your thoughts.
