Deconstructing personal memories into an unreadable fineline tattoo design.
A client came to me wanting a tattoo representing a word and two dates that were deeply meaningful to her but she didn’t want random people on the street to be able to read her personal memory. She wanted it to look like clean, abstract fine line art.
To do that, I took the shapes of the letters and numbers and hid them inside three matching geometric symbols. When you look at it, it just looks like three clean, modern shapes that sit nicely on the collarbone. But for the owner, those shapes hold her memories.
Keeping the line weights perfectly thin and identical across all three symbols is the trick to making sure this style of fine line tattoo looks balanced on the skin. The artist did an exceptional job on this one. Good fineline designs are not easy to do.
