Why did the dragon's head become blurry after a while?
Did I went too deep with the needle or is it just irritation/inflamation (I put alcohol on by mistake to erase the stencil)

Cc, please. First time shading form. I dont think im pushing values enough. Using a 3rl, 4.0v, 3.0s. Unsure how to get black while shading without overworking. Also, without taking 15 hours for a 7" tattoo. 🥴
I've been drawing with a pencil my whole life so I wanted to try my hand at tattooing.
I started tattooing on fake skin about 3 weeks ago. I found an interesting tattoo on reddit so I wanted to try doing the same one (cat on the left bottom). I've been practicing for maybe 20 hours in total and this one took me about 4 hours. I only have 1205RL and 1207M1 needles so it took a little longer.
I'm interested in your opinion for a beginner where I need to be careful or fix something in the future?
Is this a result of too deep, not deep enough, or scabbing coming off? Please be relatively nice, I’m going to get this professionally fixed, just want to know where I went wrong. Couple weeks old now. On knee
Hi.
So, I know when outlining you shoot for 1.5-2mm depth to prevent blowouts and because you want the ink precisely in the dermis layer so it stays.
Everything I am reading/watching for smooth shading is saying to layer in ink by "scratching the surface" or "working with the tips of the needles". It all warns not to go to deep because you deposit too much ink and won't get smooth blends and will end up with blotches.
Here is what I don't get...if I am layering by grazing the surface of the skin or just using the tips of the needles, then how is the ink staying? How does shading stay after years of shedding and healing at what is probably 0.5-1mm, at most, but outlines should be a full additional mm deeper?
Is it because layering just forces ink into the very top of the dermis? If that's the case, how do lighter tones persist? I am just a little confused on the science/anatomy bit of how shading through layering works on real skin (I only work on fake skins and probably will only ever work on fake skins because I enjoy it as a way to decompress, I am just genuinely curious about how this works).
I think i will fill it with stars
The Vet gave me a print of her nose and her paw. Which would be a better tattoo and where abouts would you put it? I was thinking the little nose on the wrist. Would an artist be able to fill in the gap though?
First post!! Tattoos on family, Kinda shakeyy on these but im learning. What advice do you guys have for my work?
IRTR, sick of not being able to see your stencil or have you ever been to a convention in the school gym are you looking for something that’s ergonomic to help with pain in your hands ?I You need a pen style illuminated machine grips. Lighting solutions for tattoo artists by tattoo artist. I have units for FK iron bishop most Cheyanne machines that fit disposable grips, mast flip three and critical x prime

Nocturnal Tattoo Den, C.O. hand made
The machine I use is a Dragonhawk Atom & I used a 7 round liner. I’ve been trying to find a voltage that works for my hand speed. Most of this I was at 6 volts, but a couple letters I tried it at 6.2 volts.
Looking to buy a different color set of inks, right now I’m looking at Luna, Chroma, and Dermaglo. Maybe Solid or Fusion. Leaning more toward the first 3. What is your favorite brand for colored inks and why? I’m wanting to build a palette of 25, but if I can build a good palette with less than 25 what are all the colors from your favorite brand do you recommend me getting to have the most versatility?
i don’t quite know how to ask this, but i’m hoping this community can point me in the right direction and suggest something meaningful.
i recently lost my father to cancer. i’m not typically a "tattoo guy," but i love the concept of tattoos and my mother has never allowed or liked the idea of me getting one. however, losing my dad has changed things for me, and i strongly feel the need to get a memorial tattoo in his honor.
what i have in mind so far:
a date tattoo: important dates in roman numerals.
a "days" tattoo: the exact number of days we had together, from the day i was born until the day he passed.
placement: i am currently considering my wrist or my arm.
specific advice i'm looking for:
are there other memorial concepts you’ve seen or gotten that are powerful but relatively simple?
any tips for a first-timer regarding placement (wrist vs. arm) and the healing process?
suggestions with a picture are more than welcome. all kinds of advice and ideas are appreciated. i really hope to find some good guidance here to help me figure out the perfect tribute to him. thank you in advance.
Dose anyone know of a tattoo artist or apprentice in VA that will do me, I don’t have parental consent. I know people usually think down on this kinda stuff but it’s a tattoo that I’ve been wanting for years.Trust when I say I have thought this out. I want to get it before my senior year starts or preferably before July. Even if your a beginner and not a legal tattoo artist long as you have tattooed people before and can show me your art or work book I’m kinda fine with it this is definitely for the plot even though this is something that I’ve been wanting forever. So I’m willing to be spontaneous so if anyone has any friends or you that need some more experience tattooing I’m here. I’ll also attach the pic of the tattoo that I want so ppl know what they are getting in to.
First time practicing on fake skin, did some basic shapes with different needles 3RL, 7RL,9RL and shading with 5RM, found 7volts is best for me
I have some doubts about the quality, but as I said, I'd like to start practicing and buy something inexpensive in case I'm not convinced in the end. What do you think of this machine?
