How do you push a flame toward realism?

I can see it shouldn't have been outlined. Also trying to accomplish it without white ink, so I'm probably being too restrained.

A design for the Lord of the North from Throne of Glass

I should have outlined the flame with a wash instead of black. Any other fire tips?

Im like.. really proud of these eyebrows.

Just about finished with this. I am pretty aware of all my mistakes here, but I learned more from doing this than anything else I've done. Im sorry I did not use a photographic reference of real snake hair.

Shading progress

Cc, please. First time shading form. I dont think im pushing values enough. Using a 3rl, 4.0v, 3.0s. Unsure how to get black while shading without overworking. Also, without taking 15 hours for a 7" tattoo. 🥴

Mother's day tattoo

Last week I posted a practice explaining that I was giving the practice skin along with green soap and aftercare to my mom for mothers day. I didnt say I was tattooing it on her (the gift was the design and the promise that I would tattoo her when I was ready) but I got a lot of hate anyway saying I shouldn't be tattooing. It made me really rip the tattoo apart and find every issue with it. So I did it again, a little smaller this time. Im looking for CC. Feel free to list any issues, but please have advice or a solution. Im struggling with connecting the fill to the lines without overworking. I used a 1rl, 3rl, and 5rm.

Needle hang adjustment?

What do you do once your machine is wrapped if you have to twist to adjust the needle hang for different cartridges? Do you re-wrap for each change? I feel like im missing something . . . Lol who downvotes a question?

Tiny horse

This will be the first or second tattoo I do. Im giving this finished practice along with some green soap, hustle butter, and stencil gel as a mother's day gift. Lol. Used a 1rl, 3rl, and 9rm.

An ode to popcorn, me, pa

Im still learning but I like to share my designs. This one ended up being essentially freehand because for some reason im still really struggling to get a good stencil. This is a design that's been in my head a while.
