Range in Winter

Looking at possibly getting a 2022 Ioniq 5 73kw with an advertised 298 range. I know I won't get anywhere near that but was wondering what range could expect on long summer and winter journeys?

I am based in the UK and I don't hang around as enjoy driving and the thought of driving at 65mph to conserve battery doesn't excite me at all.

Superb PHEV worth it if doing low mileage.

Wanted to ask if a 2020 Superb Phev is worth buying if doing 5k - 8k mile per year? I like the idea of doing some electric journeys and would have a charger at home?

Skoda Superb 1.4l L&K IV buying advice

Hi, looking to get the Superb IV 2020, and was wondering if it noticeably more expensive to maintain than the 2.0l 190/220bhp petrol version and what common issues apart from the notorious infotainment system I would likely encounter?

Car is 2020, L&K with 68k miles and had a DSG oil change at 41.5k miles and FSH.

Also, is there anything I would have to replace soon at that mileage? i.e the cambelt.

Skoda Superb Buying Advice

Found a 2020 Superb IV L&K for around £13k with around100k miles and FSH. Really like the car and has had the DSG service at 30k mile intervals. My worry is that the car has been used for the last 30k miles by the dealer to travel around and over a 6 month period only did 1.5k miles. Is that even an issue?

Then my main concern is that the dealer said the Mechatronic unit was recently changed and when I asked for the reason, he said because the car was well looked after and he wanted to do it just to avoid any risks down the line. My issue is that I don't buy that a dealer would voluntarily spend £1.2k for a part that had no issues, and feel he is obviously hiding something.

I wanted to see what others thought and if it possible that a dealer would ever change the Mechatronic unit at such a cost if there were no symptoms or faults?

Air Con BTU size

Hi, I know not really DIY, but I was after some advice as am looking to get air con installed in my home and have had 2 different installers providing very different opinions on the size of the air con BTU required.

I wanted to air con for the downstairs which consists of:

A living room and dining room area which is 31.5 m2

An entrance hall and small kitchen are connected to the above area with two open doors at around 22.5 m2

My original and preferred plan was to get one 24.000 btu to cover the whole downstairs but apparently air con will not travel well through 2 open doors so was recommended 2 units.

First guy recommended an 18,000 btu for the living room and dining room area and a 10 - 12,000 unit for the kitchen / hallway.

Second guy who has only seen the floorplans so far has recommended a 21,000 btu for the living room and dining room area and a 18,000 unit for the kitchen / hallway area.

The back of the house is west facing and has glass doors and windows which adds more solar heating to the equation, but I still think the second recommendation seems a bit overkill. I want to make sure that I get a strong enough installation which means the air con doesn't struggle to cool the room, but am a bit concerned about running 2 air con units just for the downstairs, particularly two powerful units.

Any suggestions on what you think may be suitable would be much appreciated. Floor plans attached as well for clarity.

Buying Used Skoda Superb with Missed DSG Oil Change?

Hi all, looking for some advice. I am looking to buy a Skoda superb with £70k miles and has the DQ250 DSG and has no oil change to date, otherwise has been serviced every year. It was due at 40k miles. Car is about £1k cheaper at least than similar cars so trying to decide what to do.

If it drives okay, should I buy it and do the DSG oil change straight away, or it very risky?
