Any experience with Star International?

Any experience with Star International?

Couldn't find any posts about this place, so I am wondering if there is anyone here who has been working with them and know about the working conditions? I am switching from IT to teaching and got acquainted with this school through Hello Work. They offer a remote teaching position 3 days a week from 16:00 to 19:00. Salary is around 90,000 a month. Not a lot, but fair enough considering it's part-time and I am a non-native speaker.

After speaking with them and looking at their website, they seem to be pretty nice. My only other option is something called Borderlink, which I have heard less good things about, but they are willing to offer me a full-time position.

I am considering taking the part-time offer at Star and maybe work towards negotiating a full-time contract if my performance is good enough.

Shouldn't the Daleks and Cybermen have been at war much earlier?

I know from a production-viewpoint why we never got a Cyberman/Dalek crossover in Classic WHO (If I am not mistaken, Wheel in Space was supposed to be just that), but from an in-universe point of view I always found it odd that the Daleks and Cybermen had no interactions prior to the events in Doomsday.

The Cybermen represent impurity. To the Daleks they are not only a different species, but a species that have altered themselves in grotesque ways to survive. They are also known to steal and corrupt whatever technology they can get their hands on. Maybe the Daleks saw them as less than trash which is why they didn't consider them worth their time. Still, their technological know-how would still pose a big threat to the Daleks, who are very much dependent on their technology.

For the Cybermen, their main objective is to survive, and the Daleks are the only species in the universe that have openly declared that they are going to exterminate every single being on every planet. Wouldn't it have been logical for the Controllers to go "Hey. These highly advanced aliens with their deadly arsenal are currently planning on wiping us out. Perhaps we should do something about that"

Do you have any theories as to why these two groups left each other alone for so long?

We live in Japan and just tried one of their "Mother hotels". It saved my wife from PPD.

Wife and I had our son 3 weeks ago and it has been rough. Taking care of a newborn is already a stressful task, but taking care of a newborn in Japan is on another level. We live in a 1-room apartment, so there is no room for either of us to retreat to when we take shifts with the baby. Paternity leave is out of the question for many fathers here (including myself), so I still have my 70-hour work week (of which 40 hours is actual work and the rest is sitting around waiting for the boss to go home so I am allowed to go home).

We then looked up what is called "Mother Hotels" which are all over Japan. They are basically hotels that are meant to help prevent PPD and help both parents maintain a normal life during the most difficult months after pregnancy. Most places only allow mothers, but some will allow fathers to visit during certain hours.

They are staffed 24 hours with nurses and midwives who take care of the baby half of the day while the mother is allowed to sleep, participate in various recovery classes (if she wish to), go to spa, get massage etc. which are all included. The rooms, like the one in the picture basically has everything you need for the baby, and all products are very high-end. On arrival my wife was given a huge book which was basically a menu card. Whenever she wants something specific to eat or drink the staff will bring it to her. The stay also includes 5 large meals that are prepared by chefs there. Mothers can either eat together or alone in their room.

Because we live in Tokyo, we got almost the entire stay sponsored by the local government.

My wife has now been staying there for 3 days, and plan on staying there for two weeks. Seeing how much she has recovered in just those three days has been amazing. Since its weekend I got a chance to visit her, and we were able to basically be a couple again, eat together, watch a movie together, talk about how we both felt after the pregnancy etc.

It has done so much for our mental health, and it made us talk about how common or uncommon these kind of services are in other countries. As far as I am aware, the mother hotel concept is not very common in the western world. I think other East Asian countries have them, but I could be wrong. I wish it was widespread. God knows how many personal tragedies, broken marriages etc. could have been avoided if governments around the world began sponsoring places like these.

We have been told that we are allowed another two sponsored stays until our son turns 4 months old, so we are planning to do one each month. After that we have considered looking at some of the private options, which are available for mother with children up to the age of 3. They are a bit more pricy of course, but affordable enough for a 3-day stay here and there.

Probably won't get me to Legend, but it was a fun ride to Veteran.

My first thought behind this team was simply to build something that was fun to run. I always love running Salazzle because it's such a nice little glass cannon, and it bullies Wiggly and Cradily which is reason enough to adore it. The Incinerate/Poison Jab spam is really all you need most of the time. Of course it also has Dragon Pulse, which I found very useful against the common Altarias, especially late game when shields are down. It also does quite well against Talonflame, which was a common lead for me.

Hisuian Samurott is another fun pick that I don't get to run that often. I would normally run Fury Cutter as the fast move, but I honestly had more success with Waterfall, as it does way more chip damage to hard counters like Stunfisk and Forretress. With Sacred Sword and Icy Wind it can put pressure on Altaria and Cradily and get some debuffs in too.

Charjabug is just an overall safe mon to use as there is not much in this cup that directly hard counters it. Talonflame is of course a problem, but it can't simply farm down Charja without taking major damage from Volt Switch.

Overall, if you have these and just want to have some fun I highly recommend this team. As I said it did get me to Veteran. I MIGHT be able to push to Expert with it, but I have my doubts.

Ever since my wife and I had our son we have been seeing a couple of pediatricians. Most have been really professional and have given us some really good advice, but there have been a few cases where we left the office thinking "What the fuck did we just listen to?"

An example was a younger pediatrician, who kept referring to our son as a "gaikokujin". I am not sure if the mother's womb is considered a foreign country lol. I am not really offended but it's such an odd thing to say. She even held him up at one point and studied him, smiled and turned to my wife saying "He's not Japanese at all, is he?"

My wife then wanted some advice related to feeding, because the midwife at the hospital had told us to stick to a strict feeding schedule, but we have read about cluster feeding and wanted to talk about it, and the pediatrician wanted us to believe that Japanese and foreign babies had different digestion systems which meant that foreigners were unable to control their eating, leading to obesity and diabetes, and she then said she was unsure of what system our son had, so she couldn't give much advice on it.

Another pediatrician we went to overheard me talking to our son in my native language, and told us that we should refrain from speaking anything else than Japanese to him, because otherwise he would not be able to develop the unique tongue and vocal cord structure that allowed him to speak Japanese fluently.

Is this really allowed? I know that complaining about it probably won't do a thing, so we just go to a different pediatrician instead, but shouldn't it be illegal to base your medical advice on fiction? I am thinking about all of the misinformation Japanese parents are given by these doctors. I know Japanese live healthy, so it's probably not causing a huge amount of damage, but I still find it a bit dangerous.

I have begun to worry about our little boy (2 weeks old).

At first we thought the problem was the feeding schedule. He tosses and turns in his crib, so much that he actually managed to do a full clockwise rotation. He has what I can only describe as a very "feral" look on his face. He frowns like a predator who is about to catch it's prey, and he then tries to eat/suck whatever he can get a hold on. When my wife tries to breastfeed him, he will almost lunge on to her while scratching her with his nails. Whenever feeding time is done and she pulls him back, he continues doing sucking motions with his eyes rolled back. He seems to have no control over his hunger. We tried to "do it his way" one day and just fed him, but eventually had to stop because he was becoming overfed and very gassy. Still he kept violently tossing and turning while trying to find something to feed on.

We have tried giving him a pacifier but he loses interest in it very quickly.

The only thing that seems to work is putting him in water. During bath time he immediately calms down and then begins again after we take him up. I also managed to calm him by rocking him on my arm while singing to him. It took a total of 4 hours before he finally went to sleep.

I cannot figure out if this is how some newborns behave or if he is stressed out about something, because I have never seen a newborn this hyper. My wife and I are already worried sick about our next appointment with the pediatrician, because we fear there is something going on with his brain or something else they may find.

If anyone has had similar experiences, would you mind sharing what caused it and how you managed it?
