Can I make rhubarb jam few days before canning it?

So I'm new to canning and therefore I don't have the proper jars yet.

I also have rhubarb that's going bad and I need to use up asap. Is it ok to make rhubarb jam first keep it in a jar and then can it properly after ~4 days?

Are weck jars safer than regular jars?

Hi!

I'm new to canning and I'm wondering if it makes sense to splurge on weck jars? My mum does a lot of canning in regular jars (that she saves from store bought products) and never had any issues and I'm tempted to do the same (mainly to be zero waste but I also don't want to pay for a fancy gimmick). Are regular jars as safe as weck jars or is there a difference?

I would be using a pressure cooker

My 2 yo has an atrophied kidney - why?

My 2 y.o girl has an atrophied kidney on ultrasound, vet says there's nothing we can do now and basically she has one functioning kidney because of that and the smaller one will continue to disappear.

She and her sister both have IBD/allergies, they're on steroids (very low dose) and she had hemorrhagic cystitis twice in recent weeks however that happened after a previous ultrasound where her kidney already looked off so I'm not sure that could be the cause.

She's also pretty inbred if it matters & her teeth didn't develop properly so maybe it's congenital?

Other than the IBD she's a perfect, pretty, smart little girl so I don't understand why this happened?

Should I dig deeper?

Back when I discovered her teeth were underdeveloped and that her parents were related I had an awful feeling that there might be something more and now here we go :( I asked her vet if I should do any other tests because of that and she said no but I wish I would've asked for an ultrasound anyways

What do I do to protect her remaining kidney? Will this shorten her lifespan?

my cats kidney suddenly atrophied - why

My cat's gastric issues worsened (both she and her sister have allergies/IBD and have been vomiting regularly until a strict diet and steroids) which prompted an ultrasound where her kidney was already off and now 3 months later her vet is saying it's definitely atrophied, smaller than it was on the previous ultrasound and there's nothing that can be done about it at this point.

Her kidney function is fine, her other kidney is ok

She had hemorrhagic cystitis twice in the past few months although I'm pretty sure that was after that first ultrasound where her kidney already looked weird.

She's most likely pretty inbred too :(

She's 2 yo, 7lbs, spayed female, takes a very small dose of prednisolone and no other medication

Why is this happening?

I'm mostly curious about possible causes and timeline - when would something have to happen? And what could cause that?

Fish is a potential carrier of something, is it ethical to give her away?

3 years ago I brought new fish to my tank and despite a two week quarantaine I had an outbreak of something that killed almost all my fish (I had black tetras)

I had a few asymptomatic survivors and now only one is left and I very much want to give away this poor thing so she can live with other fish.

Back then I brought one of my dead fish to the vet and did a bacterial culture that showed significant growth of Aeromonas hydrophila/caviae that I now learned can be treated (and I'm doing so). Fish is still asymptomatic currently in my "hospital" tank. I'll try to do a bacterial culture again but 1) it might come back clean because this is a living fish I don't want to harm and it's not gonna be super thorough 2) it's possible that the initial outbreak was viral

Would you risk giving her away? I don't want to be the cause of multiple other fish dying but at the same time I want her to live happily lol how safe is giving her away?
