Ulefone 28 Ultra Thermal vs iPhone 18 Pro Max vs Samsung S26 Ultra Camera test

Camera test with ulefone 28 ultra thermal held side by side with iPhone 18 Pro Max and Samsung S26 Ultra.

Photo was taken at full resolution no zooming on all 3 phones in office lighting focusing on a dark section of wall and zoomed in on all 3 phones as much as it would go.

iPhone 18 Pro Max - Dark fibers are blurred compared to Ulefone 28 Ultra Thermal

Samsung S26 Ultra Fiber highlighting is significant and much better than Ulefone 28 Ultra Thermal. 200 Mpx sensor is capturing more light

Ulefone 28 Ultra Thermal vs iPhone 18 Pro Max - fibers are clearly visible and ulefone is taking a superior photo.

Ulefone 28 Ultra Thermal vs Samsung S26 Ultra - Fibers are less clear and less light is visible

TLDR: Ulefone 28 Ultra Thermal beats iPhone 28 Pro Max but loses to Samsung S26 Ultra. S26 Ultra beat both other phones.

Saying goodbye to my 6 year old Samsung Note 20 Ultra....you will be missed.

Bought new around 1 month after release date, going through 3 external batteries over 6 years with zero repairs and downtime staying powered on 24x7x365x6 hours, still on its original hardware my S-Pen battery finally started to give out. So it was time to say goodbye to my beloved Note 20 Ultra.

Even after all these years it still held its own spec wise but the CPU was slow, external battery was starting to crack and the cameras were beginning to lose out to newer phones. It still competes in some specs with its newer replacement but my main requirement of a Knox like space finally came with Google Private Spaces on Android 15. So I made the switch to the Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Main Display 6.9" Dynamic AMOLED 2X (1440x3088 px, 120Hz)
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Main Display 6.67" AMOLED (1080x2460 px, 120Hz)

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Processor Snapdragon 865+ / Exynos 990 (7nm)
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Processor MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ (4nm)

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: RAM 12GB LPDDR5
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: RAM 16GB LPDDR5X

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Storage 512GB (UFS 3.0)+2 TB MicroSD
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Storage 1TB (UFS 4.0)+2 TB MicroSD

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Rear Cameras 108MP Main, 12MP Periscope, 12MP Ultra-wide
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Rear Cameras 50MP Main (1" Sensor), 64MP Night Vision, 50MP Ultra-wide, ThermoVue T2 IR (640x512 px @ 25Hz), external Endoscope camera.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Battery Capacity 4,500 mAh+10,000mAh case
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Battery Capacity 10,600 mAh

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Durability Rating IP68 dust/water resistant
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Durability Rating IP68 / IP69K & MIL-STD-810H

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Key Additions Integrated S Pen Stylus
Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra Thermal: Key Additions IR Blaster, u-Smart connector with endoscope cam.

Physically the note 20 ultra has a bigger screen but you cant tell the difference. The ulefone runs a basically vanilla google pixel like OS - pure android 15 essentially with all its quirks. the swipe down on left vs center on the note 20 took getting used to. Knox is a bit more refined than private space. The android 15 always on display logo annoyed the hell out of me until i figured out how to turn it off in settings -> display -> AOD. battery life with the faster but more refined processor is comparably even though the new phone packs 5000mAh less than the note 20. The extra 512GB of space is great. 2.5TB was a bit cramped. Price with all accessories was also cheaper than the $2000 i paid for my note 20 years ago. i got the new phone for $1250 with all accessories. Weight of both is practically similar. the new one is a slight shade heavier with less than 50g weight difference but easier to hold single handed. Both fit into my carry holster. IR blaster is awesome. heres to another 6 years of use on my new phone.

Help re primary home expansion

OK So i have a dilemma - what would dave do ?

I have a 3 bedroom house fully paid off. I need an extra bedroom for a kid since they wont share anymore and they get cranky.

My options are :

  1. Move. Sell and buy a 5 bedroom house. Difference in cost is about $1.2-$1.5m for a comparable area. Would involve a mortgage most likely but I would pay it off pretty quick.

  2. Remodel - About $600K all in. I would pay cash and I would end up with 3 extra bedrooms. It would take 3-4 months which means no rental costs since I can go to a friends place.

  3. Rebuild - Demo the house and build fresh. I would get 5 bedrooms and cost would be around $1m. It would take a year which means rental costs for that period.

WWDD ?
