Engine oil sensor bad or something more serious

I bought a 2015 bmw x5 xdrive 50i on Saturday and it was pretty new arrival on their dealership and their service shop they use is closed on Saturdays. So it needed a oil change and detail so i told them id pick it up Today evening time.

So on the way home about 35 mins into the drive about 7 mins away from my home i get the add 2 quarts of oil asap message so i drive about 4 mins to the nearest gas station text the saleman what happened and he was 100% sure its the sensor cause it just had a oil change and not to add any oil as that could damage the engine as well. He said the Dealer will cover the replacement cost as well. Problem is i still have to go to work tomarrow i cant really take off for awhile like a week or more Also they put 0w40 full syn oil from the receipt they showed me from the place. Am i gonna do damage if its not a sensor or even if it is sensor. I will buy a couple quarts in case i feel the engine sounding different or if the temp gauge goes up.

I feel like i got a good deal but curious what professionals or other people think

I found a 2015 Bmw X5 xdrive 50i with 103k miles on for about 16k dollars. I will also preface this that i have a terrible credit rating in the 500ish range. They gave me 1800 for my trade in which KBB and other cash offers were only offering 1300, I also put down 1300. The Total cost after the gap insurance and a 24 month 24k miles "service contract" that covers mostly everything. The guy explained that the contract covers up to the whole value of the vehicle in repairs over that time. It included powertrain cooling electrical suspension and brakes in the service contract.

So the final price was 16704 and my payment ended up being 443 at 22.5% which was way better than another dealer for a cheaper X3 i found but lost out on. He also said that i was considered a Alpha to creditors that prolly after a year or more of good on time payments i prolly could refinance for a way better rate, Which i was always planning on doing once my credit got better.

They also gave me a we own you receipt cause the drivers mirror had some broken trim and it didnt face down when reversing and also to detail and service the car cause it was a new arrival and it hadnt gotten that done yet when i test drove it and decided i wanted it. I feel happy with the deal and price and payments but feel free to give input.

How Often does this happen or was this a just a tactic to get me to buy a different vehicle

So this past Saturday i looked at a Bmw X3 with 79k miles for 14100, at this dealership told them i couldnt buy that day i had to get my paycheck to do a Down payment but id be happy to run the numbers for a loan and be back friday to drop the down payment and buy the vehicle. So i get texted on Thursday from the salesman if i was still coming the next day to buy it. Friday comes after work i clean out my car ready to trade it in and buy this X3 i text the salesman im on my way, He doesnt respond which i figured maybe he was busy.

So i get there walk into the office said im ready to buy that X3 the salesman i dealt with isnt there the manager and the other sales people said he left at 6. They go to show me the X3 but it was in a spot where this new salesman said thats where we put sold cars at and that means it sold. So i asked how did it sell in less than 24hrs during a work week and no one called and told me. Then he is trying to push me on a totally different Suv and other cars and i told him no my heart was set on that x3 and i said if they get another x3 like the one they "sold" id be interested again. Was this a Bait and switch tactic that i hear about a lot?

I have found a 2017 x3 xdrive 28i for sale near me with 79k miles with no accident history but also no real service history cause the car was from Canada but now in Virginia the price is 14 195 with dealer fees, its also a Bronze metallic color which ive hardly ever seen before. Has a whole suite of options like Head up display and all the safety features. Also everything worked leather was in fine condition for the age and miles. I do wonder if there is anything i should prepare for maintaining and keeping this on the road for quite a while? Thank you to anyone who is able to answer this post
