In the FNAF universe, "him" is a female pronoun.

  • Charlie Emily's death is first depicted in FNAF 2's SAVEHIM minigame. The garbled robotic voice calls the kid a HIM. But FFPS revealed that Charlie is a girl.
  • Also in FNAF 2, Phone Guy calls Mangle a him. But Mangle has a pretty feminine appearance, so what's up with that?
  • In UCN, Withered Chica proclaims, "I have seen him. The one you should not have killed." But wait, isn't TOYSNHK Cassidy? She's a girl, so how can she be a him?

There's only one logical explanation to all of this. In the FNAF universe, the pronoun "him" refers to girls.

In my personal opinion, Great King of Evil is a much cooler title for Ganondorf than Demon King.

For those not in the know: In Japan, a Demon King is an archetype, kind of like how we have Dark Lord villains. A Demon King is basically a type of villain that leads a bunch of monsters. There are many villains in Japanese media with the title of Great Demon King. King Piccolo from the original Dragon Ball is a Demon King. Even Bowser is called Great Demon King Koopa in Japan. Ganondorf is yet another example of this archetype.

On one hand, this means Demon King is a more accurate translation than Great King of Evil. On the other hand, I feel like Demon King is more generic. If everyone is a Demon King, then it kind of takes away from the mystique IMO. Great King of Evil, while a much cheesier and 90s-feeling title, is more unique and intimidating IMO. I find it amusing how on-the-nose it is, and I can't help but love it for that.

That's why I like to think of the two different titles as belonging to their respective incarnations of Ganondorf. OOT Ganondorf is the Great King of Evil, while TOTK Ganondorf is the Demon King. No clue about FSA Ganondorf, though.

Ignoring the Wild games, because those are meant to be ambiguous (although I do think the Downfall Timeline makes the most thematic sense, what with Ganon constantly reappearing).

Why has there never been a game that takes place after the NES games? Even Echoes of Wisdom, the most recent game in the Downfall Timeline, is officially set before the NES era. What gives?

I mean, I don't really have a problem with it. Prequels are cool and all. I just find it interesting how we've never seen the timeline advance past Zelda II, which results in the very first games being the last chronologically.

When you pick up the game, you naturally think it's a sequel. Then, at the end of the game, it turns out it was a prequel the whole time!

  • In Captain Toad, the titular character sees a Green Star fall from the sky, which motivates him to collect Green Stars in Super Mario 3D World.
  • In FNAF 2, the paycheck says 1987, implying it takes place right before the Bite of '87 mentioned in FNAF 1. There are many other clues throughout FNAF 2, but the paycheck finally confirms the prequel status.

What's even crazier is that both games came out only three days apart from each other! FNAF 2 came out on November 10, 2014. Captain Toad came out on November 13, 2014. What a crazy coincidence!
