This post is intended to help those who are going into the Lands Between for the first time with the Switch 2 version. If that's not you, scroll away.
You might be wondering, why should you listen to me, a random guy on the internet? Well, I have over 800 hours on the game, and I've completed 6 unique boss no-hits, which will be linked at the end of the post so as to avoid spoilers.
A general mindset you should have while playing this game is to accept failure as part of success; it's very normal to die in this game. Just learn from your mistakes and go again. You should use the open world to get stronger for the next challenge; failing to do so is failing to engage with the game's intended design. If an enemy is too strong for you, try to leave and come back later; you can decide how hard this game is for you. If you're wondering, "what's over there?" Go see; the reward is almost always worth the journey.
How do I pick a weapon and build into it? The best weapon is the one you have fun using. Pick a weapon you think is cool, maybe check the wiki to see what infusions it's best on or what stats it scales with, and allocate your stats accordingly. If you're stumped on how to build into it, look up a build guide.
How should I pick a class? Classes only govern starting stats and equipment; you can start as a samurai and end as a mage. However, if you like Melee combat, Vagabond, Hero, and Samurai are all safe picks; if you like magic, pick Astrologer; if you like incantations, pick Prophet; if you like a mix of Melee and either magic or incantations, pick Prisoner or Confessor, respectively. I can't advise on the new classes, because they aren't out at the time of writing this.
What does each stat do?
Vigor is HP, Mind is FP, and Endurance governs stamina and equipment load.
The offensive stats are as follows:
- Strength is the first physical damage stat; it gains a 50% bonus when two-handing your weapon and is typically best for large, heavy weaponry such as greatswords and hammers.
- Dexterity is the second physical damage stat; it does not get the two-handing boost and is typically better for lighter, more DPS-based weapons such as katanas or curved swords.
- Intelligence is the first spell-casting damage stat; it governs magic damage on your weapons, and leveling it allows you to access intelligence-based sorceries.
- Faith is the second spell-casting damage stat: it governs holy and flare art damage on your weapons; leveling it allows you to access faith-based incantations.
- Arcane is just weird; a few spells are tied to it, it scales physical damage on weapons with an Arcane scaling, and also governs status buildup on weapons with Arcane scaling.
What is equipment load? Everything you equip onto your character has a weight value; your equipment load is displayed as an x/y. X is the weight you have on, and Y is the total amount you can carry. At 0-30%, you will light roll; this gives you the most agility, but unless you have a lot of levels into endurance, you might have to sacrifice armor. At 30-70%, you will be at medium roll; this is where most people play the game and balances armor and agility. At 70-100%, you will be at heavy roll; don't use it, it sucks. At 100%+, you will be unable to roll at all.
SPOILER WARNING - This advice contains light spoilers; if you still want to experience the game blind, this is your time to turn back.
What order should you fight the bosses? Generally, for the base game, you should fight them in this order: >!Margit!< -> >!Godrick!< -> >!Red Wolf !<-> >!Rellana!< -> >!Radahn!< -> >!Draconic Tree Sentinel!< -> >!Golden Godfrey!< -> >!Morgott!< -> >!Fire Giant!< -> >!Godskin Duo!< -> >!Maliketh !<-> >!Gideon!< -> >!True Godfrey!< -> Final boss. There are more optional bosses such as >!Ghost Loretta!<, >!Sewer Mohg!<, >!Real Mohg!<, >!Real Loretta!<, and of course, >!Malenia!<; do these whenever.
As for the DLC, do them in this order: >!Divine Beast!< -> >!Rennala!< -> >!Commander Gaius!< -> >!Romina!< -> >!Messmer (These two are interchangeable)!< -> >!Leda and Allies!< -> >!DLC Final Boss.!< There are more optional bosses such as >!Midra!<, >!Putrescent Knight!<, and >!Metyr!<. Do these whenever. Note: >!Radahn!< in the base game and >!Commander Gaius!< in the DLC are not required, but are highly recommended.
All of this being said, there are plenty of small dungeon bosses for you to fight; you don't have to fight all of them, but I'd recommend fighting a lot of them during your first playthrough.
How do I get into the DLC? In order to access the DLC, you must defeat both >!Radahn!< and >!Real Mohg!<, the latter of which is found in a secluded location.
So, this wraps up my beginner's guide to Elden Ring. Thank you for reading this far. Learn well the Lands Between, my fellow Tarnished.
Do you think there's gonna be more Mario games like new ones or remakes/HD versions/remastered before the 40th anniversary is over on September 2026?
Cause if they are, they're probably gonna release them in 2027.
What do you think?
I’m not well versed in the Nintendo world. I was born in the late 90s and was immediately drawn to Xbox. I have a switch now but I don’t know anything about this era of Nintendo. Am I stoked on this? Is there any money in this collection?
Thanks!
So, ever since the game officially came out, I was never able to remove this game from the context of its release. Videos such as Arlo, Scott the Woz, Nerrel, etc. consistently paint the same image of this game having a flat-out broken control scheme. All of this generally tainted my perception of the game before I even really had the chance to play it. For god's sake, I bought the game for $2 in 2018 or so out of morbid curiosity. $2!!! If that doesn't explain what people think of the game, then I don't know what does. Because of all of this drama surrounding the game, I had no choice but to conform to the common opinion that Star Fox Zero is for sure a disaster of a Wii U game, one of the top 5 worst games on the console that belongs with Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Animal Crossing amiibo festival, Mario Party 10, and Paper Mario Color Splash. (The latter 2 aren't really bad games in retrospect either.) This game was just a laughingstock, and no one took it seriously, so anyone who might enjoy this game was considered invalid generally. At the time, I was actually a slight Star Fox fan, only having played through 64 3D and really enjoying it despite the game feeling kinda outdated. So, I came into the game experienced with Star Fox and knowing that it was going to be horrible. I played through the game and didn't think it was all that special and just assumed it was bad without meeting the game where it was at. I still wanted to play through this game and learn more about it and was assuming that the game would be irredeemable after playing it further still. I tried to nitpick every little detail I could to validate the general distain people have for this game: the lack of interesting routes and story sequences and the bland, retreaded story of Star Fox 64, both of which aren't great, but not horrible by any means. That is to say that neither of these are deal-breakers.
This is when I began to have a turning point with the game after aiming for 100%. Not only did I adapt to the "broken" control scheme, but I was starting to really enjoy it. In all-range mode, rather than keeping track of some radar in the bottom corner, I could see where everyone was at on the TV screen and aim at them on the GamePad giving me a much greater field of view. While on-rails, I could aim independently of where I was flying meaning that I wouldn't need to fly directly towards These are not just "nice to haves," but genuine gameplay innovations that evolve the control scheme from what Star Fox 64 did! Speaking of innovation, the gameplay had a lot of variation, from levels in the walker exploring bases, all-range arenas, on-rails, and the landmaster/gravmaster. I tried thinking back to how mediocre the story was and some of the bland paths to still validate how this was a way worse game than 64, but in the end, none of that mattered because I ended up vastly preferring how this game plays over Star Fox 64 faults in all. I really enjoyed Star Fox 64 3D, but it was really Star Fox Zero this whole time that made me a true Star Fox fan. The level design was generally expanded upon over what Star Fox 64 did as these larger arenas in all-range mode were a huge step up what 64 had, while the linear on-rails sections were much bigger in terms of general movement. When both offered a greater range of freedom and featured much greater cinematic set pieces over what Star Fox 64 offered, I can't help but fall in love with this game as something that is an evolution of the formula. Like, ignroing the control scheme, this game does nearly everything you would want out of a Star Fox 64 sequel gameplaywise. The inability to play this game without looking down at a GamePad is also just flat-out untrue. You can press the Select button to change the top screen to you can technically play the whole game on the TV or monitor without ever looking at a second screen.
The point I want to make about this post is that there are so many people out there that haven't given things a proper chance out there that will stick with their opinion. It's so frustrating how there is no such thing as nuance in this world. People are so stubborn with their viewpoints that they want to not only stick with them when presented evidence on the contrary but try to still convince people that they are 100% correct. Star Fox Zero isn't perfect and would benefit greatly from an accurate aiming reticle on the TV, but I was still able to enjoy the game. To go back to my original question, no, Star Fox Zero isn't an irredeemable mess if you can adapt to the controls as there is still much to love here. What absolutely baffles me is that Star Fox fans despite rarely getting games, when they get a game that is genuinely closer to what they want, they try to contribute to tarnishing the reputation of the game. If someone like me was able to enjoy and become a hardcore Star Fox fan because of it, THAT IS A GOOD THING THAT SHOULD BE CELEBRATED. Why are Star Fox fans trying to discourage others from trying to enjoy games in the series. It is because of that that Star Fox in the modern day was impossible to get into. No one was allowed to really like anything aside for 64. I think most people collectively agree that Star Fox 2026 is fantastic, but there are still some actual fans who are actually hating it for arbitrary reasons. Why does this keep happening? I don't like Adventures, but I am not going to stop anyone from enjoying it. It is fine if people don't like it, but just why can't I enjoy a game for what it is? I don't think there is another game out there that makes me feel more depressed than Star Fox Zero as Star Fox Zero is a game that I genuinely love but can never just simply enjoy it because of everything that everyone says. I can't simply forget everything about how this game is perceived and play it without thinking about that. This is a game I can't talk to anyone about because they either haven't played/heard of it or they just heard and assumed it was bad. If someone out there also actually enjoys this game, they have no choice but to likely hide their thoughts too because they might not have felt comfortable disclosing it and that is a shame.
we called the switch "nx", we called the wii "revolution", but i dont remember if the switch 2 actually had a codename or not.
'Switch 2 prices will rise from £395.99/€469,99 to £419.99/€499,99.'
Not the end of the world, but when will price increases end...
Not even surprised. Video games make way more money than movies lmao
Place in my town lets you tuft small rugs! Went for a work outing and went with the classic N64 logo!
Came out pretty good I think I could do something more complicated next time (if I wanted to pay instead of getting to go for free lol)

A presto!
