hello, you may call Reyes but most know me as sharky and I’m making this post out of desperation.

Im looking for 1-3 players for a game of call of Cthulhu that I’m running. The time the game will be held is 8:00pm EST on Fridays. The first session will either be this or next Friday if I can find players in time for the game to start.

Fair warning this is my first time running call of Cthulhu as I wanted to try the system and usually I just use dnd which I’ve been running for a few years now and most my campaigns had eldritch horror themes.

The plot/setting/theme of the game is simple. players will play as residents or visitors to a small conservative community in upstate Montana known as “Whispy woodland grove” or better known as “Whispy woods” by the locals. The era will be 1976, a year after the Vietnam war concluded which will tie heavy into the towns story and history as when there young men and women returned from the war there have been a number of disappearances. The sheriff of the town and the police force chalked it up to hysteria or rebellious teens until a incident at the start of the story would cause the town to collapse.

The town will be very picturesque and wholesome and what you expect when thinking “American suburbs” or “living the American dream” and I’ll be pulling from a lot of sources and inspiration such as fear and hunger. if your interest please dm me, comment below or reach out to me via my discord

goofy characters are allowed as we all know the legends of bonzy the clown and the one and only old man Henderson tho I still wanna keep a somewhat serious tone so maybe not the likes of Henderson or a more toned down version. I also stated this is my first time running the system so please no rules lawyering as I prioritize telling a good story and haveing fun. Hello reader, my name is Reyes but you can refer to me as sharky.

Im in need of 4 players for a call of Cthulhu game I’ll be hosting this upcoming Friday at 8:00pm est due to a number of my dnd games being canceled or postponed due to real life events. I wanted to try something new for once and call of Cthulhu seemed right up my alley since I’ve played it before and based many of my own campaigns of DnD with mechanics of [COC].

The setting is a relatively small conservative town in the mountains and forests of montana. The town is what you think of when someone says “living the American dream“ where everyone knows one another and the whole town is tightly knit, think the town from “Beneath the trees where no body sees” meets Mr.rogers neighborhood. The towns name is whispy woodland grove or better known as “whispy woods” by the local towns folk. The era will be 1976 right after the Vietnam war so about a year after the troops shipped back and the start of the decline of the hippy movement. The Vietnam war will play a big part into the towns history as a lot of young men where drafted from the town but only a handful would return alive and fewer still normal but ever since the troops returned to the town there have been a number of mysterious disappearances of people young and old but the police chalked it up to rebelliousness or hysteria from all that had been going on with how the war affected the town until a certain incident would lead the players (you the reader) into a rabbit hole where this small picturesque town isn’t as spotless as it seems.

we will be playing with modern coc rules using ink&insanity for character sheets and using discord for the call along with using roll20 as the TTV.

I do ask for a-bit of seriousness when it comes to making characters but if you guys want to do some goofy stuff such as maybe a more toned down old man henderson or even a character similar to Bonzy the clown then I’m all for it as where here to have fun and tell a story.

This campaign isn’t guaranteed to continue as my other games could come back at any given time but if we all have a good enough time then I’m more then willing to leave one of my dying campaigns to fully commit to it. I also must warn you I’m not the best with COC and it will be my first time running it so if you are a rule lawyer you can click off this post now. I also wish to have those above 18 years of age to participate as usually explore graphic body horror and sexual themes in my games tho no sexual acts will take place and will be cut to black.

Hello, my name is sharky or Reyes if that’s what you wish to refer to me as and I’m the DM for a campaign known as “Hells private eye” a home-brew campaign that’s been a passion project that I’ve built up for several months before finally starting it with a group of players. Me and my group of players have been playing this campaign for around 2-3 months now and are currently in the last half of chapter 2 of the story. 

This campaign takes place in a fantasy world where a new massive continent was discovered and settled. This ties in to a previous campaign named “Ashveil” which was the prequel to this campaign. This campaign takes place several hundred years after as the continent is now fully inhabited with it being called “acirema” or “new world” and the previous continent being “eporue” or “old world”. The campaign city is a city called new Chicago after a massive fire wiped out the previous city. The campaign is a mix of 1920-1970 with it all being centered in a prohibition. I would explain more but that’s the jist of the setting and if you wish to read more lore or spectate your more then happy to come and watch as in the server I go really in depth with lore.

 

anyway, we’re looking for a single player. We play Saturdays and sometimes Tuesdays at 8:00 PM EST and are games go on for 12:00 PM EST - 1:00 AM EST

The campaign is mostly role-play based with most sessions being exclusively role-play but we do have challenging and strategic combat encounters when the time comes from difficulty being from hard to very hard.

Lastly this campaign has a lot of adult themes and subject matter so any applicants below the age of 18 will be rejected and anyone found to have lied about there age will be banned immediately no questions asked.

 

I don’t use typical rules as we do use 5E rules as a base but we have different house rules. We also use both 2014 and 2024 classes but no crossing over between the two. We use all partnered classes (pugilist, illrigger, gunslinger) and we use a lot of races from crooked moon, eldritch hunt, raven loft and other books as well so all players have a wide variety of tools at there disposal to make the character that will best fit in the world. We do use homebrew stuff but very sparingly mostly for backgrounds or feats and items never races or subclasses. Also don’t worry as you do now need to purchase those books as content sharing is always on when I DM

players are allowed to make both evil and virtuous characters but never any extremes as both outright malicious and righteous preachy characters are highly discouraged

no overly edgy characters

no creepy characters

no Mary sues as your not special the whole party is special

and lastly no murder hobos
