Moving Forward in Life By Vibing Alone Far Away From Groups

Hi, so I am a guy in my mid 20s and someone who believes that vibing alone is better than being involved in group politics and the drama associated with that. I have noticed that when I try to fit in to groups I more often than not get pushed out or am at the receiving end due to internal politics. Due to this, I stay as far away from groups. However, this can be isolating at times but am finding ways to deal with it by learning to vibe alone and being choosy about my friends.

My question is do you think this is sustainable over the long run, especially when it comes to surviving in life and moving forward in my career or do I need to make adjustments?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated as this has been running in my head for a very long time.

Thanks!

How do you handle it when good things happen in your life without oversharing?

So I am someone who generally keeps to myself and prefer having individual friends that friend groups. I try staying away from groups and even take private housing accomodation to avoid drama. However, since collaboration and asking for help is important whenever needed, I need to reach out to the few friends I have to seek guidance especially regarding interviews and job search. Recently I interviewed for a big company and needed to reach out to these friends for guidance. However it becamne added pressure when these friends kept following up and asking inquisitive questions. Later once my interview was done they kept following up for the result and after I got the reject it leaked it to everyone and I started getting calls and messages from people who I didn't know and also those who didn't help me at any point of time in my life. I am now questioning myself on how I should approach such situations as I am seeing this becoming a repetitive pattern in my life. Any guidance on how to go about?

Apple Database Systems Engineer (Fleet Operation Engineering) Interview Process

Hi, I have a 30-minute first round interview with the hiring manager for Apple's Early Career Database Systems Engineer role in the Fleet Operation Engineering group coming up soon.

The recruiter described it as a high-level technical conversation focusing on my experience, interests and skills required for this role.

Anyone who has interviewed for this role, team or similar infra/db systems roles at Apple? Would love to hear what the first round was like as well as the overall interview process.

Just looking to understand the interview format, types of topics typically discussed and how best to prepare. Any guidance would be much appreciated, thanks!

Amazon AUTA: Rejection followed by "feedback is being compiled" email from recruiter

I interviewed for an Amazon SDE role through Amazon University Talent Acquisition (AUTA) last week.

Yesterday, I received a rejection email from a no-reply Amazon email address. Today, my recruiting coordinator emailed saying:

“The team is currently in the process of compiling feedback from your interviews. We anticipate having an update for you within the next five business days.”

I found the sequence a bit confusing since the rejection had already been sent. I replied to my recruiter to ask for clarification, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Was it just a delayed automated email after the rejection, or has anyone see something similar happen before?

[URGENT] STEM OPT pending - employer may have missed I-9 Section 2 / E-Verify+ onboarding

Update: Since I was one of the first hires, employer manually added me on E-Verify and hence completed I-9 then itself. Now as STEM OPT is gonna start, working on doing the reverification part now.

My STEM OPT extension application is currently pending with USCIS (premium processing started). My employer is enrolled in E-Verify, my I-983 was completed, and my school issued the STEM OPT I-20.

While reviewing my onboarding records, I realized I completed my portion of the I-9, but I am not sure whether the employer ever completed Section 2 or finished the E-Verify+ onboarding process. I am currently a W-2 employee and have been working and receiving payroll.

For context, I was the first employee hired by this startup, and the founder was still figuring out the onboarding and compliance processes at the time.
My OPT EAD expires in a week, and I am planning to verify everything with my employer.

My questions are :

  1. Is E-Verify+ a requirement for Post-OPT or is it after I apply for or start STEM OPT?
  2. Is E-Verify+ a requirement for Post OPT or is it after I apply for or start STEM OPT?
  3. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?
