New job. Coworker can’t have garlic so “garlic free office”.

Shift work so we eat lunch together. Nonsensical to leave for lunch as it’s 45 minutes. Was told not to eat garlic products before a shift and that they weren’t allowed in break room.

I don’t want to be a dick but literally everything has garlic in it. My normal meals all have some amount of garlic. I meal prep and now everything I had planned is a no go. I did not realize this would be an issue until orientation. Literally went to grocery store and finding garlic free foods is VERY limiting.

I won’t show up with like Italian food but GD this really is a pain in the ass.

Edit: thanks to the like 4 people who gave me helpful advice.

Yes, the allergy is real and severe. No, I don’t want to fucking kill this woman. I am not gonna be a dick just to prove a point but these diet restrictions feel very intensive and restrictive.

Still anti-vax. Literally zero personal growth

A teen mom is always gonna be a teen mom even well into her 40s.

I don’t know why I expected her to maybe be a little more progressive and science minded (well, she seems not as racist and homophobic as she was a decade ago) but she’s still clearly a MAHA Mom with her anti-vax shit.

Quoting Jim fucking Carey of all people.

Edit: oh wow, a lot of y’all are also very dumb.

People cannot make up their minds about gestational carriers…

Queer adjacent I guess. I am the NB/GC for both of our children and the discourse around surrogacy and now this case where a white couple accidentally carried and gave birth to an Indian couples embryos has my head spinning.

The same folks who are against surrogacy are saying the baby belongs to the biological parents. Wait what? And the pro-life/anti-surrogacy folks on social media will bend over backwards calling paid surrogates the “actual mother” because they carried the pregnancy but when I talk about carrying my wife’s bio children in a committed queer relationship I’m met with, “well, you aren’t the real mom.”

This is all on social media of course… no one has been brave enough to say shit to my face for their own self preservation. But as an Indian adoptee I have my own opinions but JFC so many of these folks are heavy on my nerves with their flip flop opinions based on the situation (basically based on whether a queer couple is involved or not).

Am I being a conspiracy theorist here?

We are TTC via IVF. We started with a new clinic in our area and joined their support group.

We’ve had a really hard go this time around and have been in the support group for 6 months. There are 4 queer couples (AFAB) and about 11 heterosexual couples.

Tell me why my red flags are raising because not a single one of the queer couples has gotten pregnant and stayed pregnant in the last 6 months while 9 of the 11 heterosexual couples are pregnant. The other two hetero couples are 40+.

Would you suspect that our clinic is purposefully sabotaging two mom families at this point or is the struggle getting to me?

Sober alcoholics need to understand not everyone has the same relationship as alcohol as they do

We are all adults in our 30s. We have a friend and his partner who are sober. One of them is an alcoholic who has been sober for 5 years. He has made it clear he is not comfortable around alcohol so obviously, when he is around we are all sober and do not keep any alcohol in our house. He was a black out drunk for most of his 20s and has made strides in his recovery. We are very proud.

That being said, he is incredibly judgmental about the alcohol intake of all around him. He assumes everyone has his experience and it can be very challenging to have a rational conversation. Yes. We are all adults who understand any alcohol consumption is not healthy. We do consider ourselves responsible drinkers and drink probably once every other month for special events. Usually cider or wine (we don’t like beer).

We are hosting a Memorial Day cookout tomorrow. We did not invite our friend as we know there will be drinking at this party. We do plan on providing cider and have some friends who will probably bring beer or wine. We (assume) everyone will be responsible. As we said, all highly functioning adults.

I was confronted by this friend and instead of telling me we hurt his feelings by not inviting him and explaining our reasoning he cut me off and berated me for serving alcohol. He projected a lot of his own issues on to me, my spouse and our guests. He said, “if you can’t have one party without alcohol you have a problem” ignoring the fact we’ve had endless gatherings and parties where alcohol was not served.

I felt really upset by his accusations and understand he’s coming from a place of hurt and deep struggle. But I’ve also noticed a lot of recovering alcoholics tend to have this same attitude. It can be very frustrating to navigate these relationships.

Why is Jess so weird with Addie?

Lillia was allowed to grow up at a normal pace. The boys too, even though IMO she still babies all three.

But her youngest at barely 9 is encouraged to look and act like a teenager. She’s so desperate for her little bestie she’s robbing this little girl of a childhood. Let her be a little girl. Why the make-up and teen outfits?

It is so weird and it creeps me out. How is Chris ok with it?

What do you think about this job? Four kids 3 and under. Pays great with benefits but…

SAHM & Grandma are at the house often.

It’s more of a Mother’s Helper position but with nanny pay and really great benefits.

- 50 hours guaranteed
- $40 per hour then overtime at 40th hour ($60 per hour) with full coverage health insurance
- Holidays + 14 PTO + 10 Sick days
- 1 SAHM. She will return PT to work in 18 months. Other mom works long hours in very high demand medical job.
- Grandma lives next door and helps out around 15-20 hours per week
- kids aged newborn (due in June), 11 months, 22months & almost 3. Oldest goes to school PT.

Usually I wouldn’t love working for a SAHM or having a grandparent over so frequently but with their schedules I see why a second hand is needed.

I have till Monday to get back to them for a trial. Seems like they’re eager to lock someone down before baby arrives. Chatted with current nanny (she’s relocating) and she genuinely seemed to enjoy the job.

I have a few reservations but it sounds fun tbh
