I wouldn't normally post every new item added to the site, but with Aniplex just being added and now a Madoka Magica preorder, I thought it was noteworthy.
I don't know if the blurays are still on print, but I hope so!
I thought they were exclusive to Crunchyroll?! How did you pull this off?!
This is big. Not only do we now have a second place (besides eBay) to get Aniplex, but we can use points to make these more affordable.
EDIT: Here's the link!
https://mediaocd.com/shop/?post_type=product&filtering=1&filter_product_brand=1253
EDIT #2: Three copies of Gurren Lagann box set left! Welp, never mind! It went from 3 available copies to pretty much whatever you want, so something got updated or changed. :) Gurren Lagann for everybody!
Welp, never mind again! It now says it's backordered. I think what happened is it sold out and switched to backorder, but the "Backorder" label didn't show for me right away, so it gave the appearance the inventory got changed. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
In any case... Gurren Lagann is sold out!
Nine titles for now, but we got manga!
MediaOCD has posted a new blog update with tons of news, which you can read here:
https://mediaocd.com/ad-police-vampire-princess-miyu-and-other-updates/
But the bullet points of it:
*AD Police 4K restoration will show details no other release was able to show.
*Vampire Princess Miyu artwork is talked about. They understand people want the white cover, but it's now not allowed with the approved art. But hey, look at that beautiful approved art! Good trade off. They had to go back and re-print and re-shrinkwrap everything, so this sounds like it's been a journey.
*Speaking of Miyu, at the moment it is still exclusive only to the MediaOCD side, and right now their agreement is still set to expire in the spring.
*There are now gift cards!
*Besides adding Viz and more Media Blasters & Sentai, they will soon be adding manga. They are starting off with smaller publishers that might be harder to find (Manga Mavericks)
*They promise a lot more stuff coming!
Hi again!
I've posted a couple of times about these, so hopefully you all are familiar with it: I had a bunch of unlabeled tapes in a storage locker with what I suspected were afternoon Toonami recorded on them. Some people here wanted to see them, so I went through the tapes to find stuff you guys would want. I thought there were 60 tapes.
There were 99.
Before getting into the details, I'm sending these to lostsilverexe to digitize. I'm out of the process once they're sent, but I imagine this will take a while and updates will probably be posted to the Discord group (linked on the main page). Thank you again, lostsilverexe, for offering to do this!
What's on the tapes:
Of the 99 tapes, 48 were things you all might find useful. Hours of uninterrupted recordings with commercials, almost all from 1998 / 1999. There is a complete PDF list at the Discord (I don't think I can upload it here? I didn't see an option). On the tapes are:
*Bozo Super Sunday Show
*Some fansubs
*Soap operas
*Playhouse Disney
*PrimeStar TV Preview Channel
*SciFi Channel MST3K (The Deadly Mantis)
*WB / UPN (Angel, Buffy)
*WB Kids (including the premiere of Generation O and the French version of the Pokerap)
*Smackdown! episode (possibly UPN; possibly bad quality... my VCR wasn't great)
*33 of the 48 tapes were afternoon Toonami (all but two cut off during Jonny Quest.. I apparently was not a fan).
Where to find these:
I can't speak for the person doing it, but I imagine they will be posted to the Discord when they're done. Probably good to join that, I would think!
Other Notes:
*Almost all of these have commercials.
*These were recorded in the Kansas City area, so local commercials & news programs are sprinkled in some tapes
*Cable channels were recorded on PrimeStar, a satellite company that got bought out by DirecTV a few years later.
*I've mailed the first box and will mail the final 31 tapes soon (please don't bug them about when it gets done; they're a busy person!)
Whew! I'm glad to get that project done! I hope it's useful to you all, and I'm glad to have helped with preserving these.
Thanks to @xplayfan for mentioning it in another thread... we have our last Dive!
I genuinely am not sure how I feel about this.
EDIT: BTW, Justin posted on Bluesky the reverse side:
https://bsky.app/profile/worldofcrap.bsky.social/post/3mvhhgi37tk2u
I know Justin already saw this... get this man some blu-ray copies, stat!
Now the question is... is he a sub or dub fan?
(does this count as politics? I hope not, because anime brings us all together)
A single tear fell from my cheek.
They said this is for a small title.
https://bsky.app/profile/discotekmedia.bsky.social/post/3muxiad645s2u
I'm sure half this group knows already because an e-mail was sent out, but MediaOCD has now added Viz titles.
So just this year the site has gone from AnimEigo & Discotek to now AnimEigo, Discotek, Media Blasters, Sentai Filmworks, and now Viz. Really great to see them going this hard on building their selection.
...it looks like it updated two days ago, but I'm not sure if anything got added. It DOES look like some things now are crossed out, such as Samurai Pizza Cats & Lupin III Part II, which I guess is what indicates its back in print (interestingly, all of Medabots is crossed out, too).
Anyone notice anything else?
A few returning sales, and a LOT of AnimEigo at 35% off or higher... you will need regional coupons for a few of these. In case you haven't seen the coupons before or don't know where to look, go to the site and check in the circled area in the picture shown below. You may have the coupon, have a different one, or none at all. If you have any coupons in your region that aren't here, please list them! Also, I may miss sales; I do a search for Discotek and AnimEigo titles, but I get different results depending on keywords, so I may have missed some series.
(As always, there are more on sale, but I tend to point out only the bigger savings, usually 30% or more. Also, coupons may not show on the app or mobile view; be sure to look at the Amazon site on computer or turn desktop mode on)

The list above was for the Amazon ones I found on sale, which I replaced with the cheaper Diabolik links. Check Diabolik for other pre-order prices, which are probably cheaper than MSRP, as well (I ain't listing them all here!).
Not many deals right now, but that's not surprising considering how many great sales we've had lately. The 50% off stuff because of the Crunchyroll deals looks like they might be still going (at least a few), but as far as anything new, this is the biggest AnimEigo / Discotek ones I've seen:
Romeo's Blue Skies (MSRP $59.95, on sale at $31.10 for 48% off... coupon makes it $24.88, for a total of 58% off!): https://a.co/d/0eA2D5Ld
There's also some regional coupons for Digimon Adventure S1 (Japanese Language) for 25% off and Season 2 (English Dubbed) for 30% off.
Digimon Adventure S1 (Japanese Language) ($52.46 after coupon for 25% off): https://a.co/d/0fC7Udw5
Digimon Adventure S2 (English Dubbed) ($55.96 after coupon for 30% off): https://a.co/d/0i2tcVV0
EDIT: Since not everyone may be offered coupons and don't know what I'm talking about, here's a screenshot: YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary, i.e. you may NOT have this coupon. You may have DIFFERENT coupons that I don't for other things. They're regional. But if you have a coupon, you will see it on the website in this area.
If you happened to watch the Discotek stream, Justin mentioned beefing up the MediaOCD site after what Crunchyroll did, but also said we have only two more Deep Dives coming. At that point he says MediaOCD will have EVERYTHING Discotek. (link takes you to the part)
So... what's left that isn't out of print that we're still waiting on?
So I'm not sure how this affects preorders and other physical media, but I'm guessing since they've been actively clearing out the Discotek stuff, maybe they are doing away with it completely.
I can't believe we lost Right Stuf for this.

EDIT: HAH! Love the shade from MediaOCD!
Not as many big ones, but the stand outs below are definitely Captain Harlock and Android Kikaider 1972, Kamen Rider X, and Angel Heart. As always with coupons, YMMV; you may not have the same coupons, or you may have different ones for other sets (post them in the comments!). Also, as usual, this isn't everything; just stuff hovering close to 30% & higher. Some sales might have been missed because of Amazon's weird search function.
NOTE: Sometimes coupons don't show through the app. Try looking on a web browser instead.
That Captain Harlock price makes me cry because I'm stone cold broke until the middle of the week and still need to hit the Sentai sale. It definitely complicates things for my budget.
