Having 2+ years of full-stack experience means absolutely nothing the second a LeetCode Medium shows up

I can design microservices, optimize database queries, and build seamless frontend architectures in my sleep.

But the moment an interviewer asks me to invert a binary tree or find a cycle in a linked list under a 30-minute timer, my brain completely formats itself.

Why does the industry insist on interviewing us like we’re competitive mathematicians instead of software developers?

Inheriting a codebase where the original architecture was clearly "trust me, it works"

No documentation. No comments. Variables named temp1, data_final, and do_not_touch. The entire infrastructure is held together by a single bash script written in 2018 by an engineer who left the company three years ago.

Every time I open a pull request to fix a basic typo, I feel like I'm cutting a wire on a bomb. How do you even begin to refactor a system that functions purely on vibes and prayers?

At what point do we admit that 90% of "AI workflows" just create more admin work?

I just spent 4 hours building a multi-agent automation to draft and categorize client emails, only to realize it would have taken me exactly 12 seconds to just write the replies myself.

Anyone else trapped in the loop of optimizing processes that didn't need to be optimized in the first place?

We don't have time to write tests, but we have unlimited time to fix production bugs

Is there a psychological term for a management team that considers a 2-day testing phase "too slow," but willingly spends 2 weeks in emergency war rooms fixing completely preventable regressions?

Asking from a very on-fire Slack channel.

[Question] Is the "Junior DevOps" role a myth in 2026, or are we just calling it "Cloud Support Engineer" now? ☁️📉

I’m a 2nd-year CS student with a background in technical production and scholarship leadership. I’ve been building out my own infrastructure logic maps and messing with Docker images for my student projects, but every "Entry Level" job I see on this sub requires 3+ years of experience and a mastery of Terraform.

For the hiring managers here: what is the "Primary Key" skill a student should focus on to actually stand out in a sea of 8-YOE applicants? Is it still about the tools, or is it about showing you can handle a high-stakes incident without a mental breakdown?

Is it just me, or is there a massive "Logic Gap" between passing a DevOps certification and actually surviving a live incident? 🤡🛠️

I see a lot of talk about joining specific training batches and "Guru" paths, but as a CS student currently building out technical event pipelines, I’ve realized that no bootcamp can simulate the adrenaline of a database schema failing five minutes before "Go Live."

Are we focusing too much on the "Syntax" of tools and not enough on the "Psychology" of infrastructure? In 2026, the real Gurus aren't the ones who know every Terraform command; they're the ones who don't panic when the ingress controller starts acting sentient. What was the one "un-teachable" moment that actually made you a DevOps professional?

How do you find the energy to "start" a workout when your daily schedule already feels like a marathon?

I’m a student balancing a hybrid schedule that involves long commutes to Manila and a heavy workload. By the time I get home from my on-campus requirements, my mental battery is at 1%, and the idea of "going for a run" feels like a task I just don't have the capacity for.

Stop looking for the "Best" tool and start building your AI "Development Team." 🛠️💻

I completely agree with the post, expecting one tool to do everything is like using a hammer for a surgical procedure. In my own workflow for technical production and coding, I’ve realized they have distinct "personalities":

  • Claude: My go-to "Senior Dev." It’s unparalleled for reasoning through complex 3NF database normalization or debugging intricate AVL Tree logic without getting "lazy".
  • ChatGPT: The "Creative Architect." It’s great for high-level brainstorming or drafting those Reddit comments that actually get upvotes.
  • Gemini: The "Deep Researcher." Its massive context window is a lifesaver when I need to cross-reference multiple 100-page technical documentations at once.

In 2026, the real skill isn't knowing how to prompt; it's knowing which "colleague" to ask for help. Who else is currently running a 3-person AI board of directors just to finish one project?

Stop using agents for "chat" and start using them as your personal Logistics & Coordination layer.

I’ve noticed that most people treat agents like better search engines, but the real power is in Event Orchestration. Recently, I set up a local agentic workflow to handle the logistics for a student organization event.

Instead of me manually tracking 10 different moving parts, the agent handled the dependency mapping between speaker schedules, equipment availability, and venue requirements. It didn't just "give me a list", it cross-referenced our database schema and flagged a resource conflict I would have missed.

Are you guys building "Utility Agents" for your specific daily grinds, or just using the off-the-shelf stuff for generic productivity?

Stop asking AI to "write" and start asking it to "bridge" your data structures.

I’ve noticed most people use AI for content generation, but the real 2026 "superpower" is using it as a translator between incompatible logic systems.

For example, I recently used it to bridge a legacy bank statement CSV directly into a complex custom diversification spreadsheet. Instead of manual data entry or writing a one-off script, I fed the AI the raw schema and had it build the mapping logic in seconds. It’s not about "writing content"; it’s about using AI as the glue for your existing technical workflows. What’s the most "technical" but non-writing task you’ve delegated lately?

Is it just me or do we all get micro-anxiety waiting for the next bubble? Ano ang etiquette niyo sa ganitong messages?

Is taking a "Gap Year" still a taboo in PH culture, or is it becoming a necessary move for mental health in 2026?

I see so many applicants panicking because they didn't get into their "dream" school or they’re reconsidering their course choice last minute. We’re so conditioned to finish everything as fast as possible, but at what cost?

Has anyone here actually taken a gap year before college? Did it help you find your footing, or did you feel the "FOMO" seeing your friends start their freshman year? Would love to hear honest takes to help those currently spiraling.

Is it a "respect" thing or sadyang overthinker lang tayo sa digital age?

UP, Ateneo, DLSU, UST, we’re conditioned to think these are the only paths to success. But as I look at the current industry landscape, skills and actual projects seem to be outweighing the name on the diploma.

For the seniors and grads here: How much did your school's "brand" actually help you in the real world? And for the applicants: Is the stress of getting into a "Big 4" school affecting your mental health more than it should?

I’ve stopped using AI for the "flashy" stuff and started using it to handle the mundane coordination and logistics that used to eat my weekends. What’s a simple, non-work task you’ve offloaded to an LLM that actually made your day-to-day life feel lighter?

u/Deep-Location-6426 — 16 days ago

Dati, kailangan laging may "ganap" or party para masabing masaya ang weekend.

Tech stacks change, but people remain. After two decades in tech, I've seen that skills get you the job, but soft skills keep you there. In today's fast-paced environment, which one do you prioritize for long-term success?

In my technical work, I try to balance AI tools with manual logic design so my skills stay sharp. Do you have a personal "test" to know if you're becoming too reliant on AI? Which tasks do you strictly keep "AI-free" to ensure you're still learning?
