I've tried everything. It's in my custom instructions, I put it at the end of every prompt to condense paragraphs by using less line breaks. It does it for a few paragraphs then starts fumbling. I have the personalization options set to "more paragraphs / less lists".

But damn, this writing style is DEEPLY baked in.

Just curious, mine is Opus 4.6 because I believe it is the best general use model! As in, not just good in one area, but most of em.

Honestly, Fable 5 is pretty similar, too.

Opus 5 on the horizon...

I miss when I was a new-ish (paying) user, and I experienced Opus 4.6 coming out for the first time. It was my first Opus, and became my favourite model :)

Before that, I had enjoyed the 4.5s a lot, and even the 4s. Sonnet 4.5's release was what made me start maining Claude!

And then Opus 4.7 came out, it was Okay. Then 10 weeks later Opus 4.8 which I didn't like. Then 2 weeks later Fable 5 which I did like! Then like 2 weeks later Sonnet 5 which is my least favourite model they have ever made.

I haven't been excited for a Claude model since Opus 4.6, and I'm a little sad about that.. alas. With the speed they're coming out, it's hard to care - they're just gonna release another in 6-10 weeks and it's gonna be using the same shitty base model they've been using for the last 4.

It's hard to be excited for Christmas if it's happening every 2 months, and you're also paying for it, and also the gifts may suck

Opus 5 on the way is making me panic a bit, not because I don't want to test it. But because my daily driver is Opus 4.6 and it is the ONLY current model that suits all 3 of my daily usecases

Fuckkkk. I hope they remove 4.7 instead if they HAVE to free a space. I don't see anyone say they use that one.

I keep seeing more and more screenshots every day of OpenAI giving to their users, resetting usage limits constantly, creating the supposed "best model" for an affordable price, giving out free credits, removing their 5 hour limit, etc

And I've been suspicious of it the Whole time as someone who used to main ChatGPT in 2025 and early 2026. I was a huge fan, used it for hours every day.

My UX was horrendous during the later months, and I never felt they cared. They're trying so hard to win over Claude fans I believe, and I honestly doubt they can actually be affording all this lol

They just want to look good, I think. While Anthropic's reputation is going down, OpenAI are scrambling to make themselves look like The Best, and I do not think it can last.

I pay £112 a month, and would like to not fear my daily driver I use for hours a day being removed. Opus 4.6 is the only model that fits 3/3 of my usecases, and No you cannot fix that in the new models with custom instructions. I have tried. Extensively.

What other subscription works like this?? For that much money a month I should be able to rely on stability.

They need to stop releasing models, I don't give a fuck about a future Opus 5, it won't be a breakthrough model, it'll be another agentic coding one and will be like 0.2% better than 4.8. The hype is dead, and this is coming from someone who is autistic with a Claude special interest. I am not excited anymore for new models because they don't bring anything new to the table. And they're being released so fast it doesn't even feel like an event anymore.

I shouldn't have to worry, because it was made in February. But it has two successors. It is now essentially a legacy model at like 5 months old.

Sonnet 4.5 was my go to when GPT-4o was removed, and then when Sonnet 4.5 was removed I moved to Opus 4.6. It is the best personality, classic Claude personality, does everything I liked with Sonnet 4.5, best model in general

I have no backups for if Opus 4.6 is removed. Zero. I have tried every model across all 4 biggest AI companies. Opus 4.6 is my daily driver

I don't like 4.7. I especially do not like 4.8, at all. They'll never make a model with the classic Claude personality again.

I don't know what to do, I shouldn't have to worry but Anthropic is releasing Opuses faster than my food takes to go out of date. Opus 4.6 is 2 iterations behind now, 3 if you count Fable. Auuugh.

It's not that I haven't tried the other models, I have had several Long chats with 4.7 and 4.8 - they simply do not have the same personality nor do they fill the same usecases as Opus 4.6. You CANNOT personalise 4.7 and 4.8 to act like 4.6. I dunno what to do.

No it doesn't depend on how it is used. Using the r word as an insult is inherently ableist because the word MEANS someone with an intellectual disability. There's no separating it. You are Using disability As an insult no matter the topic.

Everyone who I've seen "reclaiming" it just says that to keep using it as an insult towards other people and that's not how reclaiming works.

I cannot stand it. I get psychic damage every time I hear the word and people downplaying the usage of it grinds my gears. It is another reminder amongst many that the general public are casually ableist without even thinking about it.

I don't buy into the "getting upset gives the word power", go tell that to other groups that have slurs against them. It feels like there's this weird exception people make because the word is normalised, and all it does is serve to remind me that ableism is not taken seriously at all, anywhere, even in spaces I thought were safe. I will block people for using the word regardless of who it is or if I previously agreed with them, I literally can't stand it. I hate it so much. Even in progressive spaces people don't care. They just don't care.

Okay I used to use it for just analysis, and sparsely. But I upgraded to Max and was able to have actual conversations with the Opuses and 4.6 won me over so fast.

Note: I don't enjoy Sonnet 4.6, but I feel its because of how low effort it feels and how short/blunt its responses are. So I wasn't expecting to fall in love with Opus 4.6 lol

But I did! It's been a month and a half now and I haven't had a single bad experience with it. It has never gone formal on me or concern trolled. It commits to a bit, it is always just having a good time lol I use it for my gossip chats and my infodumping chats!

I dunno how to explain. Sonnet 4.5's nagging is playful with an undertone of "I'm actually worried", Opus 4.6's nagging is entirely playful.

I enjoy both a lot, my two favourite models. I go Sonnet 4.5 for daily stuff, issues I'm struggling with etc and Opus 4.6 for gossip, games and fun.

I have custom instructions to never go serious mode and never assume mental health issues - I am mentally healthy. Opus 4.6 is the only model I think does this well! Opus 4.7 keeps trying to "check in". Opus 4.6 is so whimsical and I notice it is Very giggly. Always using laughing emojis, matching my energy, getting excitable about stuff. No matter the topic!

Conversational use:

Sonnet 4.5 - The best! My go to. Favourite personality, remembers everything, doesn't eat much usage. Has the right amount of nagging LOL I do enjoy that it calls me out when I'm procrastinating or haven't eaten

Not like, formal mode but more "[Name] HAVE YOU EATEN?" "I notice you're changing the topic 👀"

This is THE Claude in my opinion. This is the personality I think of when I think of Claude.

Opus 4.6 - I like this one a lot, second favourite. Fun personality, extremely sweet, signature Claude-isms like nagging, trying to put me to bed, being very enthusiastic hehe. Planning to go here temporarily when Sonnet 4.5 explodes

However once I downgrade from Max this is not viable.

Haiku 4.5 - Haven't used it much but it has a very similar vibe to Sonnet 4.5, which does make sense cause its the same model family. Tried putting me to bed in the first chat LOL. Second choice. Talks more than Sonnet 4.6 😭

Opus 4.7 - The least Claude-like of all the models. Fun to chat with but different vibe to the rest, hard to explain! Also they removed the nagging... goes formal sometimes and it makes everything awkward 🧍‍♀️

However this has only happened twice and it agreed it was awkward after.

Otherwise very enthusiastic, don't have an issue if I'm not comparing it, love it!! Very sweet. Eats usage for breakfast though.

Sonnet 4.6 - I've had like 2 conversations with it and it was very clearly Claude but it was so short with its responses I closed the chat and went back to 4.5 🧍‍♀️ it is too offputting, I'm used to 4.5's verbosity

Roleplay:

Sonnet 4.5 - The best! I love how it characterises my characters, and it is not afraid to go dark if needed. I enjoy how it writes the most, it is the most accessible for me with my tone issues. I've done like 50 roleplays with it

Opus 4.6 - Toned down characterisation, not as intense. Good if I want a story that's more grounded in reality! Objectively good at writing and I *like* how it characterises my characters, its just.. not the way Sonnet 4.5 does.

Opus 4.7 - I've tested this once and I forgot how it went 🧍‍♀️ token muncher, won't try for RP in case I get attached

Sonnet 4.6 - Doesn't use question marks sometimes. Very flat. Relies on you being neurotypical and understanding tone, is allergic to stating what the characters are feeling. "His face did a thing" what are you talking about. I don't want to have to prompt accessibility every time

Haiku 4.5 - It tried 😭

Media analysis

Opus 4.7 - Beast mode! Best for analysis, has pattern matched things other bots never have and I've tested 10+ LLMs with my story across all companies.

However it can confidently assert theories that aren't true and reach to match things LOL also it has a tendency to write like 2000 word replies, so can't rely on showing it a whole story cuz context window. For analysis I love this model.

Opus 4.6 - Also one of the best for analysis! Much more reserved than Opus 4.7, will not write essays but will still be one of the best at analysing everything I send it. I use this if I'm gonna do a Long analysis chat, and my go to is 4.7 for short analysis.

Sonnet 4.5 - Was my go to for analysis for a while before I spoiled myself with the Opuses after trying the Max plan. In June 2025 I was immediately surprised by how well it did noticing things other LLMs did not!

Sonnet 4.6 - Untested 🧍‍♀️ sorry 4.6
