Fedora or something else as a newbie?

So, I am currently planning a computer build and plan to use a Linux distro as the OS, as I am tired of Windows lack of customization and AI slop. Originally I was going for Nobara, however I found out the distro is mainly maintained by one guy for his dad and himself, which is great, but I want to use a distro that has a little more backing (indie is fine, just more than one person).

This led me to considering Kubuntu, which is just a KDE desktop running Ubuntu. Canonical is a big company, so its backing is substantial compared to Nobara. That was until I learned of Canonical's plans to implement AI into the OS. From what I understand, they plan to implement AI by having it installed by default, just letting you uninstall it post install, which I do not like (I don't want to have AI slop on my computer in the first place). I already was a bit hesitant on Kubuntu because of Snaps, which sound pretty much like a worse version of flatpack with a propitiatory app center, so this made me rule it out.

This led me to do some more researching and asking around, where I found a few other distros to consider. Bazzite was the first recommended distro I came across and though it sounds great, I don't like the atomic system, so I ruled that out.

The next one I came across was CachyOS, but I am hesitant as from what I've read it is pretty much an Arch Linux distro with a GUI installer and presets. The updating and maintenance seemed too difficult to manage, so I ruled it out.

Finally, I have come to Fedora. From what I've heard, the main issue with Fedora is that it requires downloading proprietary firmware and repositories as well as a few other minor things to do after installation. This doesn't sound too difficult and I've found a guide to help get it set up post install to help (I'd link to it but I'm not sure if that's allowed here so I'll just say its called Fedora Noble Setup on Github).

I am aware that Fedora is looking into AI too, however my understanding is that they are planning for it to be a separate thing (opt-in instead of opt-out), where you can choose whether you want to install AI features after install of the OS. This would mean I don't have to have it installed without my consent and have to remove it manually.

The computer will be used for gaming, editing video via Blender, art stuff (all software is Linux compatible) and web browsing. I believe Fedora should be able to fulfill all of my needs, however I thought I'd ask here in case there is something I don't know.

Is Fedora a good choice for me? If not, what else should I look into? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!

Anti-Sag Bracket for Red Devil 9070xt?

As the title says, I'm looking for a good quality anti-sag bracket for my Red Devil 9070xt. My main concern is compatibility with everything else. I need one that is compatible with the following:

  • Asus ROG STRIX X870E-H ATX AM5 motherboard
  • Thermalright Phantom Spirit EVO 120
  • PowerColor Red Devil 9070xt gpu
  • Fractal Design Meshify 3 XL

I am okay with spending up to $150 USD on it if needed, though I'd prefer if it could be within the $60 range or lower. Any input is appreciated!

So I have a problem to do with what cooler I should use for a 9950x3D. Originally I planned to use a 9800x3D as my CPU and had the Phantom Spirit EVO 120 picked out for a CPU cooler. After some more research I found out the 9800x3D was a little too underpowered for my needs, so I ordered the 9950x3D after some consideration.

The problem is, I can't seem to get a clear answer as to whether or not the Phantom Spirit EVO is enough to cool the 9950x3D. If it helps, I plan to use the computer as my daily driver, running games like Minecraft, Cyberpunk2077 and a few indie titles, as well as running software such as Blender (mainly for it's video editor but maybe effects in the future), Gimp, Inkscape and OBS for screen recording and potentially live streaming in the future. I typically also have many tabs and windows in the background.

I also plan to use a 9070 XT gpu (specifically the Red Devil from Power Color) and I am concerned it might interfere with the cooling of the CPU. From what I can tell, it's exhaust is directly facing the CPU when plugged in, so I figure it will affect the temps a little at minimum. Is this something that would require water cooling?

I do not wish to overclock nor underclock my CPU. I plan to use it as is out of box, meaning little to no tweaking in the BIOS.

Is the Phantom Spirit EVO good enough for my usecase? If not, what cooler should I choose? I'd rather it be air cooling because water cooling is a little scary to me ngl, but I understand it might be necessary to consider an AiO. Any help is appreciated!

So basically I am considering adding a HDD to my upcoming build with 10TBs of storage. According to the manual the storage can be hooked up to the wall facing the back side panel using the support brackets. My question is, does the HDD get sufficient cooling? If it isn't enough, is there a way of sufficiently cooling it without modifying the case?

For those curious, I also will have an SSD for my main drive, so this one's mainly for photos, videos and miscellaneous files that I don't need hasty access to. I'm also using air cooling for the cpu (don't worry, I did make sure it would fit) so I will be putting 3 140mm fans on the side instead of mounting an AiO there. IDK if any of that is useful to know, but I thought I'd add it just in case.

TL;DR - Will the HDD stay cool enough?
