Did they change the AI difficulty in the last ~1.5 years?

Just started playing again for the first time in a year or two and I easily beat the hard AI twice, hardest once, all first try. I was rarely able to beat the hard AI before. And I beat the extreme AI on my 2nd try just now after a rematch (same map, civs, etc). The extreme win might be a fluke, especially since it was a rematch.

The one thing I could point to having changed is I just stopped stubborn habits and responded to change more easily - switching units when seeing what they're responding with, taking my focus out of a hot area and tending to everything else for a moment, etc. Not trying to be precious about where I build houses.

Anyone having issues with using two Xbox controllers through Steam RemotePlay?

trying to play DOS2 with my partner - we're trying to play using two xbox controllers on our living room TV connected to my computer via Remote Play. For some reason, whichever controller I use to control the mouse and hit "PLAY" on the game launcher does not work. The other controller can navigate the options in the game's menu that appears, but the first controller cannot press the three horizontal lines button to join, etc. I tried multiple times, starting the game with each controller and noting that it did not work once the game actually launched and the other one did.

I've tried starting the game from my computer, but then one of the two controllers still does not work. Both controllers work simultaneously on other games through the same setup. On Ubuntu, if it matters. Steam Client Beta.

One last thing, we got this setup to work somehow once and got into character creation. But there was some other UI issues with renaming characters - like, pressing "X" to rename once spammed the button, which was weird, then the menu to confirm/cancel the name change never disappeared. This might have been a Steam issue.

Thanks

Is there any hoping for these trees - one's leaning pretty hard, always getting suckers, the other is also leaning and diseased

Hi,

There's two trees near my house on the tree lawn that I'm thinking of starting over with. I'm curious if these can be saved or if I should just restart.

First four pics are of tree #1 - I believe a service berry. Leaning very hard, has suckers that I am always having to clean up. I think I can stake it but it's pretty late now, the trunk is very thick where it starts to bend. I've tried staking before but need a stronger stake. Any tips on what kind of rope/stake to use? How can I improve drainage? Could the suckers be caused by something else?

The next two pics are of tree #2 - a hawthorn of some kind? It's very diseased, I think a fungal infection. Is it too far gone? Can anyone identify what the fungal infection is?

I there hope for these trees? Am I wrong with my identification of them? Open to all advice

Thanks

Training for a 50k - splitting up time between indoor rowing and long runs

Hi - I'm training for a 50k in December. My training plan is currently:

  • 2x long runs each week
  • 4x 1hr steady state rows each week

I'm thinking I'll do 30miles of running and 170W of SS rowing (~56km or ~35miles of rowing) each week the first month, with the last week of each month being deload. And possibly bumping up to 35miles/175W, 40miles/180W the next two months. Peaking 2nd or 3rd week of November with a ~33mi training run with some friends, then ~3 weeks of taper.

Is this insane? My thinking is I want to maximize cardio, and minimize stress on knees/tendons/etc but not too much that I don't have the leg strength I need for long time on feet. IT band/shin splits/etc injuries are what I'm worried about most.

I've been training somewhat seriously for ~2 years now, running off and on my whole life, but never have really strictly followed a training plan.

I just did my 1st long run of my 2nd week of this plan and am recovering nicely. But little discomforts in my legs have come and gone that I'm keeping an eye on.

Thanks
