Have any of you had to have a tooth extraction done for treatment (during treatment)?

Hi everyone!

I’ve gotten approved and paid for Invisalign and seen my treatment plan.

Due to over crowding on my bottom front teeth, my choices were pull one front tooth, and do Invisalign (preferred); or remove 4 premolars and do traditional braces (would’ve given me the “perfect” alignment on my front teeth).

I opted for Invisalign anyway because I didn’t care about my four front teeth perfectly lining up. And didn’t think I could deal with 4 more extractions, and didn’t want braces for 3 years in tandem with my line of work

Anyways - the ortho said a couple trays into my treatment he will refer me to have the front bottom tooth removed to make room for my bottom canine to come into place as the incisor is basically sitting behind it.

Has anyone had a tooth removed during Invisalign treatment? When did you resume your treatment/how long did it take until you could put trays back in?

4 week Bone graft healing, can’t tell if it’s going well?

Exactly 4 weeks post extraction of the biggest tooth in my mouth + bone graft.

No pain, weird smells or taste. Site is maybe half the size it was the day after the procedure. No noticeable loss of graft material, either (based on the gritty texture explanation I keep seeing).

I can’t stop convincing myself that the white in my socket is bone graft, being as I can’t find any kind of resource that can adequately show me or explain what it would look or feel like if it was.

I had an orthodontist consultation because I wanted to start that treatment before getting my implant done, so the implant doesn’t limit that down the line. Already paid for that treatment, so I’m worried the graft isn’t doing well and will basically mess all that up. The plan was to start treatment after my 2 month scan and being cleared by my surgeon.

Have any of you experienced this 1 month post op? I’ve had white in the socket the whole time but to me it was obvious it was granulation tissue. What’s pictured is today, and a lot more than there was yesterday, and is also only visible if I take a picture. Cannot see it in the mirror at all.

Any advice is greatly appreciated haha

Starting Invisalign 2 months after tooth removal + bone graft - yay or nay?

I got a molar extracted (that went into my sinus) and a bone graft completed about a month ago.

Shortly after, I scheduled an ortho appointment because I read getting a consult can be good before getting an implant placed in case it’s more beneficial for the end result to start treatment before placing a tooth that cannot move.

Consult went great, they were running a promotion for Mother’s Day so I signed / paid. They told me my dentist cleared me for treatment and they’d leave the space for the future implant that’s needed and work closely with the surgeon to ensure the space being left is adequate. (noting that while my dentist did not directly refer me, I set out for this on my own - turns out this is the same orthodontist office my dentist refers to).

However what I did not consider was my bone graft. The structure looked fine on the panoramic taken today according to the orthodontist (he said bone all around looks good); and I want to assume that my dentist is aware that a bone graft was placed because the oral surgeon sends them a report after I get work done.

Is this normal procedure? Or should I call my oral surgeon directly? Maybe call the ortho back to make sure all parties were aware…? Invisalign treatment is supposed to start the same day as my follow up CT with the surgeon, unless the aligners come in sooner (next month).

Really I’m panicking because I thought to Google it, and I already paid for the treatment and got the scans done.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all!

I’m two weeks (post op terms I guess 13 days) into recovery from an extraction and a bone graft of what was explained to me as the largest tooth in my mouth.

I have no symptoms that suggest problems, other than the fact I still have a sizable site still present. I know everyone heals at their own pace - but does this look ok or should I be calling my oral surgeon for an evaluation?

Stitches fell out yesterday morning. No noticeable loss of graft material or collagen plug throughout the duration of recovery (at least from what I can tell based on searching what that looks/feels like). I check it before brushing my teeth, it seems like the hole is getting smaller but I just wanted to get an opinion as they scheduled my follow up for 2 months after the procedure.

* ignore the dog hair hanging off my nail. Shedding is no joke and forgives absolutely no one

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I’m currently healing after getting a bone graft and extraction on one of my upper molars.

I was planning to do a consult for Invisalign, then one of teeth had a crack situation that resulted in removal and bone grafting with the intentions of placing an implant in a few months.

I’ve read that implants can’t move, so I’ve been debating getting my consult done now before moving forward with the implant.

But I’ve also been told if I wait too long to do the implant, the bone can absorb and cause issues with placing an implant down the road.

If anyone has knowledge or experience with this kind of scenario, advice or stories would help a lot with what I want to do moving forward

Thank you in advance!
