Codependency just uncovered.

I (23F) am engaged to my fiancée (25F) for about 3 months. She just recently started school, through overall time for her schooling will be about five or six years. That’s a long time. Right now it is only a 10 week class and only a few days a week.

That being said she goes from a half day of work, to school, to homework for a few hours and then goes to hang out with her friends nightly for a few hours. I want her to go hang but also to feel prioritized. I would like to add context that she’s only done this for the last three nights, it’s not like she’s been doing this for weeks. Which is definitely eye-opening for me.

Last night, it was brought to my attention during an argument that I am codependent. I show the signs. I do not have many friends outside the relationship, I do all the chores so she has no “reason” to not hang with me at home, I don’t pursue any of my hobbies, and when she hangs out with her friends i keep score. I immediately go “okay well she’s spent 10 hours with them and no time with me so she’s choosing them over me.” She is my best friend, and if it was up to me, we would be together all the time but i can admit the relationship isn’t as “fun” anymore. She also admitted to me that she believes being apart more will possibly cause more excitement when we are together. A better sex life, more interactive dates, quality time that is more genuine. I want this.

My question is, what baby steps do you take to reverse codependency? We have spent the last two years together, genuinely every day, this was bound to happen. She is upset because her ex was codependent and she was hounded on relentlessly, while I am not her ex I am aware that my codependent nature may come from my childhood and I do not want that to rule my adulthood.

Tamara

Good Morning Everyone,

I’m currently getting an engagement ring designed by Tamara. So far, she seems amazing.

I’m just curious if anyone has texted when it comes to contacting this company? Like we are genuinely texting through my iMessage about the ring. I have no doubt that she’s a real person, or that she is from the jewelry company, unfortunately in the US we have a lot of scams so a side of me is always skeptical.

Also, does anyone have experience with Tamara? If so, drop your pics and stories below!!

The push and pull

I’ve been estranged from my parents and brother for almost 2 years now, my sister it’s only been a 1 and a few months. With my brother, I wasn’t really losing much. When he went to college, he completely left my family and I behind in ways. I was so happy for him to make it out of the house and have his own life, but he knew how hard the house was, and him not checking in on me never really felt right.

I went no contact with both my parents right before my 21st birthday. It was a constant push and pull in my mind on i should do it cause i’ll be happy versus no i want to just suck it up cause I love my mom and I have a nephew. Eventually, I went no contact. I felt like anytime that I left the house for a more permanent reason (college and moving out at 20) everyone just switched on me. Like I was the villain because I didn’t wanna live under the roof anymore.

Last night, I had a dream that my mother was dying of cancer. It felt so real, and in my dream, i regretted every ounce of going no contact with her. I woke up in tears, in my dream it felt like I was choking (like you do when you’re crying really hard). These moments happen every now and then. Where I won’t dream of my mother, and always wake up feeling sad and confused.

Have any of you dealt with this? The push and pull of going no contact.
