Better off replacing MacBook Air screen or getting MacBook Neo?
EDIT: Title should be “Better off replacing MacBook Air with Neo or another Air?” I was tired when I wrote this :(
Hello all,
I currently have a 2020 MacBook Air 13” with an Intel Core chip that I use for browsing, streaming, and document management. In the past I used it for graduate school research (coding, writing papers) and digital drawing (have an iPad for this now). I was hoping I could continue to use it a little while longer, since the tariffs have been hell on tech products. Unfortunately, the bevel edge near the screen cracked recently and now the screen is all sorts of messed up. I was told that replacing the screen would cost almost $500 (!) and that I’d be better off buying the Neo.
I’ve been considering the Neo since it’s basically the same price as the screen replacement and I don’t use my personal computer intensively now that I have a work computer. However, I’m worried the Neo won’t be sufficient for my needs, as I 1) keep a Lot of tabs open at a time and 2) recently started photo editing and heard it’s not very good for creative work.
I‘m aware I could just buy another MacBook Air but I’m hesitant as it’s basically twice the price and I’m trying to not spend a ton of money after some recent big purchases. I’d like to hear from Neo and Air users if it’s worth it to go for the Neo for my uses or just wait until I have enough money for the Air.
