Army Navy Country Club?

I retired from the military about a year ago and was thinking about joining the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington / Fairfax near Washington DC. I’m eligible for a reduced initiation fee for only a little while longer. It’s still really expensive but I think it might be worth it for the pools, tennis courts, and restaurants.

Honest reviews would be appreciated. Thank you.

Advice - 2nd Home First?

My spouse and I live in Washington DC and we have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. We are starting to look at houses in Maryland and Virginia so we can be in a better public school system. But we have a nanny that we love and want to stay in DC until our daughter goes to kindergarten a couple years from now. When we move and are no longer paying for a nanny, we can even afford a vacation spot, such as a small house in the mountains. But now we’re thinking, why not just buy our cabin now so we can start enjoying it?

Seeking advice on what we should consider if we are thinking about pursuing this “buying your second home first” kind of strategy. Thank you.
