So I did a thing

TLDR: designed and 3D printed a custom solar filter adapter for my smartphone teleconverter to shoot the eclipse

I was a bit late to the party preparing for the eclipse, so I had to improvise a quick setup to shoot it safely without dedicated camera gear.

I modeled an adapter ring to mount the film from a standard pair of certified eclipse glasses directly onto my teleconverter lens. Printed the parts in ABS, popped the cut-to-size filter inside, and mounted the assembly onto my phone setup (Oppo Find X9 Ultra with the teleconverter rig on a tripod).

The raw frames were processed and stacked using Siril, and edited in Premiere Pro for the recap.

It held up solid during the whole session and let me capture the transition clearly without burning out the sensor or frying the optics.

Drop a comment if you have any suggestions about how I could improve it !

Am I shadowbanned ?

Well, pretty much the title, I noticed I couldn't send any more PMs about a week ago and my profile tab wasn't loading. It's been 5 days appealing each 24h with the same message, never got an answer nor notification about my status (I still idk what I've done lmao), but now I can load my posts and avatar when I click my profile.

Is there some sort of shadowbanning levels ?

Thanks !

Unedited shots from the After Hours til Dawn tour (Expert Mode + Teleconverter)

Hey everyone,

Wanted to share a few clicks from The Weeknd's tour, shot completely unedited right from the standing crowd.

I am honestly blown away by the camera performance in these conditions. These were captured using Raw Max expert mode as well as the Hasselblad special mode combined with the official teleconverter kit.

The low-light management and sharpness are very nice for straight-out-of-camera files. Included a shot of the giant golden Hajime Sorayama robot statue right when the lasers were beaming out of it, the camera app actually auto-suggested the scene mode, and it handled the dynamic range and light beams perfectly without blowing out the details.

Let me know what you think of the rendering!

7" or 8" Mountain LR frame and VTX crossroads

Hey everyone, I just lost my 7-inch rig on a jagged mountain ridge during a multi-day trek.

Strapping the quad to the outside of my backpack probably micro-damaged the VTX antenna during some rock scrambling, which led to an instant video blackout 20 seconds after takeoff, a messy GPS rescue, and a total loss of the quad and my GoPro 13.

To give you some background on my experience, I’ve been in the hobby for over 10 years, starting way back with analog tinywhoops, taking a detour through a DJI Mavic Pro for cinematic shots, and finally jumping into digital FPV with a 5-inch freestyle quad running a rooted Caddx Vista with WTFOS.

For the rebuild, I want a mountain surfing and trekking machine, but I am torn between two completely opposite philosophies regarding the frame. On one hand, the foldable route like the SpeedyBee Mario Fold 8 DC or AxisFlying Kolas 7 would allow me to fold the arms and store the quad safely inside my backpack, completely protecting the antennas and components from rocks, bushes, and weather during long hiking days. On the other hand, the rigid route like the AOS 7 V5 or Chimera 7 Pro V2 offers maximum frame stiffness, zero jello, etc...

I would love to hear from anyone flying big foldables in rugged environments about how modern 7-inch or 8-inch foldable mechanisms hold up against resonance, if you get low-frequency frame noise that ruins Gyroflow stabilization, and if the locking mechanisms or hinges develop mechanical play over time after rough packing cycles.

My second major crossroads is the video system because I currently fly with DJI Goggles V2 and my 5-inch freestyle quad runs a Caddx Vista rooted with WTFOS, an ecosystem I'd like to keep intact. Since the O3 Air Unit is getting increasingly harder to find brand new, I see a few options for the new mountain build.

The first path is hunting down a used DJI O3 Air Unit to keep everything on my Goggles V2, giving me 4K onboard recording without a GoPro but forcing me to rely on the secondhand market.

The second path is biting the bullet and upgrading to the DJI Goggles 3 and O4 Air Unit for the new rig, keeping my Goggles V2 solely for my 5-inch at home and only packing the other goggles for hiking.

The third option is sticking to what I know by putting a Caddx Vista on the new rig with WTFOS and buying a cheap secondhand action cam like a DJI Action 2 or GoPro 10 so it hurts less if I lose it again in a ravine.

I am really torn on what you would do in my position.

For context, the planned parts for the rest of the build include a SpeedyBee F7 stack, 2810 motors around 1100kv, a Matek M10Q compass and GPS, dual Crossfire Immortal T antennas, and 6S Li-Ion packs.

Thanks for your help and insights!
