Two taken In Carnegie

Over the past 6 months a father of eight who married an American woman and owned a textile shop was taken in the night. His family still hasn’t heard from him. A Ecuadorian student at Carlynton High was taken. His classmates say he was in class one day and gone the next with no explanation. He has been deported to Mexico. Stay safe. Stay vigilant. What is the most culturally relevant Australian comedy series.

If I had to assume I’d say Summer Heights High or Angry Boys, as they are the only Aussie series that have reached me in the states. Thanks for entertaining the question!

Edit: I named SHH and Angry Boys because that’s the only Aussie series (barring bluey and Steven Irwin’s works) that I’ve heard of. After looking further into Chris Illey, yeesh.

Hello! I was wondering about travelling to the Mount Ngaliema/Stanley area!

For context, I am a U.S.A. Resident who is interested in travelling to the area in the distant future. I was wondering:

1: Is it generally safe

2: is there decent infrastructure (as in car rentals, hotels, restaurants) that a lazy American tourist such as myself can take advantage of?

3: is it relatively easy to reach the mountain area from Entebbe

4: Do I need knowledge of Swahili and/or regional languages past common phrases for travel?

Thank you all very much for your help!

Does the Mexican right admire/idolize trump? Asking as a U.S.American

Seeing the rise in trump-related right politics worldwide, such as the Argentinian president, and the Alberta independence movement, I was wondering if politically right Mexicans admire him. Thank you all very much for your time!

Eine Frage für Fortgeschrittene deutsche Lautsprecher

Hallo! I have been learning German for the past five years, mostly confined to Duolingo, and in the past 8 months have branched out into being tutored by a native German teacher, reading German stories, listening to German radio, as well as watching movies with German subtitles. I want to supplement my learning regiment, I’m open to anything, but AI is off the table. Danke schön für deine Zeit!

What is the big second language in Australia?

The U.S. has Spanish, Canada French, Singapore Chinese, and N.Z. Te Reo Māori, but what does Australia have? I’m thinking of a language with a historical basis, taught in schools, and widely understood. My main guesses were Chinese dialects, Aboriginal languages, and Islander languages. Thanks for humouring me!

Reading page seven. Jeez.

“The exclusion of foreign born Jews as a measure of self preservation, the settlement of the n*gro state of Suanee” yeesh

Not to mention his other books were criticized at the time for “insensitive humor at the expense of ethnic types" do you know how racist you gotta be for someone in 191-something to call you insensitive.

Thoughts on the recent wildfires?

Particularly the ones in the U.S. northwoods and Ontario that is spewing smoke into population centres. In Saginaw the AQI reached 1,100. This is comparable to factory cities in India.

Ukraine’s Green Future

In times of war and strife it is important to find upsides of the destruction wrought. Many areas of Ukraine have had energy structures and civilian buildings targeted by Russian forces. The tragedy in this is not to be understated, and it is imperative to remember the losses of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers, as well as Russian conscripts who did not want this war. Keeping their memory in mind, as we’ll rebuild after this grand tragedy, we have an exciting opportunity to rebuild greener and better. Old Soviet housing blocks can have their flat sides and roofs turned into green spaces, destroyed natural gas and coal power plants can be transitioned into biofuel facilities, taking advantage of the exceptionally rich soil of Ukraine and the food waste as a result. The damaged power grid can shift to wind and solar, not only creating a healthier, greener Ukraine but one not dependent on Russian gas and oil.

In urban centres, rubble can be pulverized and turned into concrete to build libraries, dance halls, cultural centres, memorials, veteran rehab centres, and homeless shelters. Reinvigorating cities and towns destroyed and encouraging immigration to bolster the cultural richness of Ukraine.

Keep in mind that this is not limited to Ukraine, and can be applied to Palestine, Sudan, Myanmar, and places affected by major natural disasters. I just used Ukraine as an example due to how it hits close to home
