32mm on the Rapid Roval CL III yay or nay?
Hey all,
Couple of months ago I got hit by a car whilst training and my Canyon Aeroad Katusha got destroyed. This bike had 23 and 25mm's width tyres.
Bought a Tarmac SL8 Pro, SRAM Force E1's with the Rapid Roval CL III's wheels and so far loving it.
I've put Pirelli P Zero 4S 30mm's with Pirelli TPU inner tyres on it and really love the smooth rides during Fall and Winter. Also, not a single flat. Im at 6k kilometres so far this year.
Since the weather is getting better, Im checking for Spring/Summer tyres. I'm thinking about either 30's or maybe try 32mm's. Pirelli or GP's, not sure about that one yet. Maybe 32mm in front and 30mm's in back?
I would like to join my first official race in July I've been training for. I read that the 32's could add more resistance at higher speeds. So I have no experience in races yet. I don't have the goal of winning (yet). I want to gain experience so I guess the 30 vs 32mm's would be less of an issue but Im not sure?
Info about me and the rides:
- male, 35 years, 83kg
- LT2 @ aprox 3.4 -3.6W/kg (FTP is about 3.7W/kg)
- 2 years of experience on road bike
- rides: mostly long zone 2/LT1 rides (think +120km per ride) or shorter intervals
- my goal races : Kermesse (Belgian kind of Criteriums but longer routes and duration, avg speed 40-44km/h - 25mph)
- wheels: rapid Roval CL III wheels with 21mm internal width
- tyres/inners: either gp5000 or pirelli p zero's with pirelli smarttube TPU's
Anyone can help a beginner out?
