Whats a good backpack to buy for college?

I’m looking for a good backpack for college and would appreciate some recommendations.

I’m a commuter, so I’ll be carrying my backpack with me pretty much all day. I need it to comfortably fit my 11 inch iPad Air, 13 inch MacBook Air M3, water bottle, snacks, and a lunch box. I’ll probably also have some notebooks and other school supplies.

I’d prefer something that isn’t ridiculously bulky but still has enough room for everything, good protection for my iPad and MacBook, and is comfortable to carry for long periods of time.

What backpacks do you guys recommend?

Confusion on the unrealistic expectations on Riba

When avoiding riba as a Muslim, what do people expect normal Muslims to do? Like, if you can't buy a house through a mortgage, do you just rent for your entire life? If you can't use a credit card, then where do you put your money? Since you can't even put it into a checking account, at least in America, because banks offer interest, what are people supposed to do?

I know a lot of people I see talking about this, or even some posts I've come across, say that they just want to rent their whole lives in order to avoid riba. But is that truly how someone wants to live their life? Is it really worth it when there are other options, like Islamic mortgages?

And yes, some people say that Islamic mortgages are also haram because, at this point, almost everything in the world is connected to riba somehow. Even some Muslim-majority countries use interest-based systems for certain services.

So what do people actually expect? Are only rich people supposed to be able to buy houses? I don't understand why some people take avoiding riba to such an extreme when there may be other options available that are designed to be Shariah-compliant.

Especially for my generation (I'm 17), what do people expect us to do?

Is it haram to resell replicas or clothes?

Assalamu alaikum. I recently started looking into businesses I could start as a Muslim, and I found that reselling seemed like the best option for me. I started reselling replicas of clothing from official brands at a lower price. However, I’ve started wondering whether this is actually haram, even though I clearly let people know that the products are not authentic. I feel like I’m giving people an affordable way to follow fashion trends, but I’m not sure whether the income I’m making from this is halal.

Any other suggestions on dealing with this ?

Hi, unfortunately I've been dealing with dandruff/seb derm for a while now, and I'm honestly stuck on what to do.

About a year ago I went to a dermatologist, and she prescribed me ketoconazole 2% shampoo and gave me some other advice. I've tried sticking with it, but I haven't had much luck. Since then I've also tried a bunch of other products like Nizoral, T/Gel, CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, and Selsun Blue, and none of them seem to keep it under control for long.

Right now, my routine is to use Selsun Blue every other day, but I haven't seen any improvement in weeks.

I also get it on my face (eyebrows, around my nose, and beard/mustache area). I've tried using Selsun Blue on those areas too, but it always comes back. I feel like I can make it a little better, but I can never actually get rid of it.

I've attached some pictures of what it looks like right now.

The problem is I can't see a dermatologist right now, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do on my own until I can. At this point, I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I've tried following the instructions for all of these shampoos, but nothing seems to make a lasting difference. Is there something about my routine that could be making it worse, or is there something else I should be trying?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I humbly ask you guys to re-rate my schedule

Redid my schedule since some stuff opened up. Going to talk to my counselor in early August just to make sure I'm on the right track. Looking if I should change anything, remove/add stuff. The only thing I don't like is Gen Bio for Tuesday and Thursday being late. However, as a freshman, I don't think there is much I can do.

So for my classes (12 Credits):

  • Gen Chem (4 credits): Taught by Anna Korneinko
  • Gen Bio (4 credits): Cardinale Stern
  • Energy and Society (3 credits): Rachael Shwom
  • Seminar (1 credit): Triveni Kuchi. Course is Managing Info for Better Performance

Should I Retake Intro Psychology as a Pre-Med If I Already Have AP Credit?

Hi everyone,

I'm an incoming Rutgers freshman majoring in Cell Biology & Neuroscience on the pre-med track.

Because I earned AP Psychology credit, Rutgers automatically gives me credit for Intro to Psychology. However, I can still take the course if I fill out a form to waive the AP credit for that class. I'm wondering if it's worth taking Intro to Psychology anyway as a pre-med, or if I should just keep the AP credit and use that space for another course.

From a pre-med perspective:

  • Do medical schools care whether I took the college version of Intro Psych if I already have AP credit?
  • Would it be better to retake it to build a stronger foundation for the MCAT, or is self-studying enough?
  • If you were in my position, would you use the AP credit to free up space for other science classes or electives?

My other courses are First Yr Byrne Sem, General Biology, and General Chemistry.

Lost on what to do with my condition

Right now my routine is:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Nizoral (I shampoo twice) and then conditioner.
  • The other days: CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (just once) and then conditioner.

I also get it on my face (eyebrows, around my nose, and beard/mustache area). I’ve tried using Nizoral on those areas too, but it always comes back. I feel like I can make it a little better, but I can never actually get rid of it.

What would you consider the best iPad for me?

Hi, so I'm a college student on the pre-med track, so I'll be taking a lot of science classes and expect to spend a lot of time taking handwritten notes, annotating lecture slides, and studying from PDFs.

I'm looking to buy my first iPad, but I'm not sure which one is the best value. I have about $500 saved, and my parents are willing to help cover the rest if it's worth it.

A few things about what I'm looking for:

  • Mainly for note-taking
  • Reading and annotating textbooks/PDFs
  • Split-screen with notes and lecture slides
  • I already have an M3 Mac
  • I'd like it to last me through all four years of college (and ideally beyond)

I've been looking at the iPad Air (11" vs. 13"), the iPad Pro, and different Apple Pencils, but I'm not sure what's actually worth paying for.

If you were buying an iPad today for four years of pre-med, which model and Apple Pencil would you recommend, and why? Also, if you own the 13-inch Air, do you think the larger screen is worth it for note-taking?

Rate my Schedule as someone who wants to pursue 🌟Pre-med🌟

I recently came back from freshman orientation, and I was in for a rude awakening about what classes were still available. For some context, I plan to major in Cell Biology and Neuroscience and am currently on the pre-med track.

I know these classes are pretty early, but honestly, I didn't have much of a choice given the options that were left. My reasoning behind this schedule was that I didn't want too many classes later in the day since I work Mondays from 5–7 p.m., Thursdays from 5–7 p.m., and Fridays from 4–7 p.m.

However, I'm wondering if I should quit my job since it's cutting into the time I'll have to study. It could also reduce the time I have to explore clubs, research opportunities, and other extracurricular activities. So I would appreciate if anyone could give advice.

Seeking products to use for my dandruff situation

I’m honestly confused about what to do at this point. As you can see in the pictures, I’m still dealing with dandruff and haven’t seen much improvement despite trying multiple treatments. So far I’ve used ketoconazole shampoo (both prescription 2% and Nizoral 1%) as well as CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.

current routine used to look like this, but now I have a random routine since I see very little imrpovement.:

My

  • Monday: Nizoral
  • Tuesday: CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
  • Wednesday: Nizoral
  • Thursday: CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
  • Friday: Nizoral
  • Weekend: CeraVe Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

The flakes are mostly small and white, but I occasionally notice a few tiny oily/yellow flakes if I look closely. I also get flaking around the sides of my face and in my eyebrows. Because of that, I’m wondering if this could be seborrheic dermatitis rather than just regular dandruff, but I’m not sure. At this point, nothing seems to be making a significant difference, and I’m feeling stuck. Has anyone dealt with something similar? What ended up helping, and what options should I consider next?

What are the best things to take advantage of in Rutgers

I’m going to be joining Rutgers University in about a month, and I was wondering what some of the best resources and opportunities the school has to offer are. I’m especially interested in hearing about things that people wish they knew earlier, whether that’s academic support, research opportunities, pre-med advising, internships, clubs, networking, gyms, libraries, study spots, or anything else that really helped you succeed or enjoy your time there.
