Shooting guard and small forward

What does an sg/sf player need the most? What skills are important for the positions and what should be the priority in learning them?

What are some elite players that can compete with superstars?

As the title says, I’m looking for elite characters that can match superstars. I have an E1 Kawhi, an E1 SGA and an E1 Wallace on the way. I was looking for characters of any position that’s cheaper to max while still being effective in high ranks.

How to get better with Kawhi?

I want to know how to play better defense as a newbie on Kawhi Leonard. I’m asking for tips, advice, or anything that can help me with using Kawhi or just defense in general.

Non superstar big

Hello, f2p newbie here. Been playing for a week and I’m really having fun with the game. I currently have Kawhi and SGA.

I was wondering what big I could use as a third option for when my teammates choose sf or pg. I’d prefer a big that can rebound and block. Being free to play, it’s going to take me a while to max any superstars so I need someone reliable without needing much investment. Btw, if the big needs e7 but is only elite, that’s fine with me.

If y’all are going to suggest a superstar, atleast suggest a cheap character that doesn’t need many enhancements.

How do I train for my desired playstyle?

I wanna start this off by saying that I’m not the most athletic person in the world, my vert isn’t good and I’m only average when it comes to speed. (But I am actively working on this)

My desired playstyle has these:

  1. Focus on midrange shots (fades, jumpers, pull ups)

  2. Dribbling that can set me up for shots or drives for when opponents get too close. Doesn’t need to be as good as a pg as I already play with too many of those.

  3. Variety with finishing. I already have a bit of an advantage as I can use both hands for layups with my non dominant side somehow being better than my right.

  4. Danger off of the triple threat along with proper use of pivots (not that good at it, and my jabs don’t really get anyone to bite. My fakes are also inconsistent, sometimes looking bad/unconvincing or messing up my accuracy when I get it right)

  5. Reliable defense and rebounding. I don’t get much blocks, but I get tons of rebounds just off of boxing out. Faster players just blow past me though.

Obviously I need practice for this, but I’m unsure about what should be prioritized and how I should go about improving that specific skill. I already have some of the basics down, but sometimes I panic and get tunnel vision when I get the ball.

That’s all I have in mind right now, I’d be open if y’all have any critiques or opinions about how I wanna play. Like, maybe you guys think I should focus on something else.

Estimates for my growth?

Just turned 16 2 months ago and I’m 5’8 (almost 5’9 when I measured a few minutes ago). My mother is 5’3 and my dad is 5’7. Important to note that even at 5’8, I’m the tallest amongst my living relatives.

11 years old: 5’3

12 years old: 5’5

13 years old: 5’6

14 years old: 5’7

15 years old: 5’8

I’m basically guaranteed to reach 5’9 but I wanna know if I can go further. I don’t know how growth works but I’d be happy if I can reach 5’11 (6’0 is stupidly improbable but a kid can dream, yk?)

6th man career mode

Is it possible to make my character a 6th man? I always keep being placed as a starter but I want to be like Jamal Crawford or James Harden coming off the bench to score.

Left hand dribbling

I can do layups on my left better than my right but it’s the complete opposite for dribbling. How do I make my non dominant hand better with handling? I’ve been practicing a crossover but that move is useless when the hand I switch to can’t even drive at full speed.

Obviously I need practice, but what do I actually have to do? People have told me to practice with two balls but that isn’t option for me as I only have one and can’t afford another. I would go on youtube for guides and stuff, but it’s full of those two balls/1 basketball 1 tennis ball things.

Palming the ball

Would it be possible for me to grab the ball with hand off a dribble if I trained my grip strength? Or is it just not possible for me?

Career mode sim progression

I have a shooting guard who’s entire thing is about being a ball hog and scoring. But I’ve been struggling to level up his creating. He has a max of nine (before cap breaker) in dribbling and a 2 or 3 in passing. And because of that, he barely gets any exp in creating since he doesn’t get assists (sometimes 1).

I do the drills, but I can’t afford to focus on creating because I need to upgrade my other stats too. Another issue I have is with skills. Dunk artist and that unfazed needs 8 in dunking and mid range respectively. But my uncapped max is 8, and I won’t get finishing xp or shooting xp from those if I max them to meet the requirements. Is it not possible to get these skills in college and get a 5 star rating at the same time while simming?

If anyone’s curious, the build is a slashing shot creator, sg, 6’6 and 210lbs. Trying to get crafty, dunk artist, and unfazed

Being good enough for varsity

Just turned 16 years old, started playing at 15. I’ve never been on a school team and have never experienced coaching. The school I’m transferring into has a bball team and my dad knows the coach.

I’m not very athletic since I’ve been a shut-in for the past 8 years. Starting last week, I’ve been working out at home with dumbbells and body weight exercises, I practice at the court whenever I can (usually aren’t many people in the mornings). I haven’t been able to play 5v5 for a while because no one would take me in their team, so I just practice alone.

I have a pretty good shooting form and have been told I learn things quickly. I’m taller than the average in my country so I’m decent at rebounds. Not afraid of getting physical, but I sometimes lose the ball during heavy contact. I don’t really like it, but I can play dirty when it’s needed. I can do layups on both hands (For some reason I can do it better on my left even though I’m right hand dominant).

My dad said he can get me into the team, but I don’t feel like I’m good enough. And getting into the team without deserving it isn’t something I’m happy with. Dad said the coach will train me properly but I still have doubts.

PREMIUM EDITION

After playing the game for about a week, I’ve decided on buying HoopLand. I really wanted to get premium and thought about piracy, but after a while I chose not to. Felt guilty about pirating an indie game being developed by one person so I used my remaining allowance.

Thanks Koality for this wonderful game, I genuinely don’t regret buying it and I’m hopeful for the game’s future!
