Nuala and Cerridwen Week Event

Nuala and Cerridwen Week Event

We have known them since ACOTAR as Rhys "handmaidens", when UTM they not only helped Feyre to dress up, but also protected her. And we got to properly meet them when they introduced themselves to Feyre in ACOMAF. So it feels right for them to have their own week to celebrate their characters, specially when so often they get ignored by the wider fandom or reduced to just "Servants that work for Rhysand".

The Week will be celebrated from June 28th to July 4th, which we know is a very short notice, but the date felt right.

We hope some of you want to participate on it, thank you Darlings ~

Vassien Sub's Icons

We wanted to add icons to the sub description, but couldn't decide which icons use, we wanted to include the Firebird and the Queen imagery for Vassa, but also the Fox, Fire and Lord for Lucien.

Which one would be the best?

So... Are Feysand Cat or Dog People?

Just for fun, last week I made a post of "What Dog Breed the IC members would be"... And now I'm making another one with Cat Breeds... But here is the question... Would Feysand have a Cat or a Dog? Or neither? Both? A Turtle??

The Clever Fox stares Down... a Death God?

The First scene comes from ACOWAR CH15, and while the scene "Winged Death" is personified in Rhys, Cassian and Azriel right there... Why couldn't this also be a foreshadowing for Lucien facing a Death God as well?

"Stares"

SJM uses the same word to describe Lucien setting his Target in Koschei on ACOSF CH7, when they're discussing Koschei using the distraction of some chaos to get freed from his lake.

Also worth notice that this action of setting a target on the lake and Koschei only happen after Vassa reminds everyone that she IS enslaved by Koschei.

Of Embers and a Great Eye...

It might not mean anything, but with the "Eye" as the symbol of the Dustjacket, i couldn't stop thinking about this; it is certainly interesting that in ACOWAR, Cassian's power on his Siphon was compared with Embers, and that Nesta's book was later called "Silver Flames" and how her own powers are related with Fire.

In ACOMAF, Azriel's Siphons were compared with the eye of a great slumbering beast from a frozen wasteland, which is very specific for a description to not mean anything.

Could this be a hint toward both Elain's powers or even the title of the book?

EDIT:

I wanted to remind you all that just as Azriel's powers are described there as "slumbering beast", Elain's OWN mental place is described as a sleeping garden.

>She had no mental shields, no barriers. The gates to her mind … Solid iron, covered in vines of flowers—or it would have been. The blossoms were all sealed, sleeping buds tucked into tangles of leaves and thorns.

Again, this could mean anything, but is a very interesting connection.

Vassa's Variants

I just wanted to share some of the characters that make me think about Vassa.

- Anastasia (Anastasia 1997)
- Vasilisa (Vasilisa the Beautiful, Russian Folktale)
- Captain Amelia (Treasure Planet 2002)
- Sorcha (Willow 1988)
- Eowyn (Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien)
- Marya Morevna (Koschei the Deathless, Russian Folktale)
- Odette (The Swan Princess 1994)
- The Firebird (Ivan, the Grey Wolf and the Firebird Russian Folktale)

Vassa's art by Morgana0anagrom

We haven't see her much in canon, but i'm very interested in her character and what else she is hiding. This was really fun to make, because some where easy to figure out; we know her character is influenced by the Firebird and Vasilisa the Beautiful. Marya Morevna also shares qualities with her.

Odette was also a very easy guess to make, as their stories are very similar to one another.

Eowyn is a personal choice, I think they have both very strong personalities, from cultures very influenced by horses and horse riding, and I very much hope we get a "I'm not a man" moment for her.

Anastasia was another very easy guess, not only they look similar, they also are exiled royals fighting a wizard who wants to enslave them.

Sorcha might be the less known from the butch, I loved Willow when i was little and there is something about her that always makes me think of Vassa.

Captain Amelia, I'll blame Emma Thompson, but whenever i read Vassa it was her voice on this character that I was hearing. Also physically, I can't stop thinking about her when i read that Vassa had cut her hair on ACOSF.

Is Feyre a Snake with a Pom-Pom tail?

I adore this description of the snake with the pom-pom tail that Sarah did for Feyre back on this interview in 2016:

>Q: What would the inner circles Hogwarts Houses be?

>Sarah: Cassian would definitely be Gryffindor. Azriel would be Ravenclaw. Sweet Elain would be a Hufflepuff. Nesta would be Slytherin. Amren would be Ravenclaw or Slytherin, although I feel she fits more in the role of the headmaster. Mor would be Gryffindor. Rhys would be a Ravenclaw. Feyre would be a Hufflepuff/Slytherin (like a snake with a pom-pom tail).

And in 2015 she did say that Feyre would be a Slytherin:

>"...Feyre would be Slytherin actually. Rhys is Slytherin..."

So this aspect is consistent between the interviews.

Personally when reading the first book I was more inclined for Feyre to be a Gryffindor, because how brave she was. But the Hufflupuff option could also be a good one, because one of the most important qualities about the house is how hardworking they're, and we saw this with how much Feyre was doing for her family and how much hard work she has been doing on the rest of the series.

But, I do also agree with SJM when she says that Feyre would be a Slytherin, specially after ACOTAR, i feel like she is more of a Slytherin than a Gryffindor as i first believed her to be. Because how cunning she is and resourceful, like, the fight with the Middengard Wyrm proves it, and how she was able to manipulate two High Lords... And the Slytherin/Hufflepuff thing feels right with the "Persephone" theme that she was given.

So, what do you think? Is she a Slytherin? a Hufflepuff? a Gryffindor? or maybe a Slytherpuff???

I have already made this post before on a poll version, but wanted to make it again now that there are more people on the sub and I have more inside on it.

Back in 2016 SJM sorted the IC members on different Hogwarts houses, and on this occasion she placed Rhysand on Ravenclaw:

>Q: What would the inner circles Hogwarts Houses be?

>Sarah: Cassian would definitely be Gryffindor. Azriel would be Ravenclaw. Sweet Elain would be a Hufflepuff. Nesta would be Slytherin. Amren would be Ravenclaw or Slytherin, although I feel she fits more in the role of the headmaster. Mor would be Gryffindor. Rhys would be a Ravenclaw. Feyre would be a Hufflepuff/Slytherin (like a snake with a pom-pom tail).

BUT in another interview on 2015, when a fan asked her to sort her characters into Hogwarts houses, she had another answer:

>"...Feyre would be Slytherin actually. Rhys is Slytherin. Tamlin is Gryffindor..."

Personally I think he fits better on Slytherin than Ravenclaw, but it could go both ways, while Slytherins are more cunning and ambitious, Ravenclaws are seen as curious and independent thinkers, and those are all things we could associate with him.

Maybe he is a Nerdy Slytherin? Whose favourite class is Astronomy? A Slytherclaw?

So, which one do you feel it would fits him better; Ravenclaw or Slytherin? Or maybe something else??

At the moment of this post, none of the Mods for r/FeysandDarlings or r/feysand are involved on the Discord that was created yesterday.

We strongly advice users who have joined it to be mindful of not sharing any personal information over there.

A bit of a controversial take here, but I'm a strong believer that Amren is aware that Mor isn't that into boys.

There is a whole debate about why Mor didn't come out to the IC, and I think that's not really true, i think the ones who doesn't know are the Bat Boys (More specifically, Cassian and Rhys, because I'm leading to think Azriel is aware), and that might be it's own can of worms that we might or not have an answer in the following books, but I'm certain that Amren knows about Mor's secret.

Now, I don't really have much to back up this theory, but I knew Mor was Gay before reading ACOTAR, because few months before one of my friends had ranted to me about the whole scene.

So when I started reading ACOMAF and came across this line:

>“Males are horrible creatures, aren’t they?” Amren said.
“Repulsive,” Mor said, clicking her tongue.
Some surviving, small part of my heart wanted to … laugh at that. -ACOMAF CH16

Three things came to my mind in quick succession.

The first was that SJM doesn't know what the word subtle even means, and I'm fine with it.

The second was that I already loved the Feyre-Mor-Amren friendship, give me more, please.

And the third; Amren knows.

And I don't have much else to go for this theory, except that there seems to be a complicity between Mor and Amren that isn't there for the rest of the IC. And I don't think that Mor came out to Amren, but that Amren just noticed and didn't care about the thing, for her it might have been a regular Thursday. Which makes sense when you remember that until the end of ACOWAR Amren was Genderless in an anatomically way (she has always presented as female, as much as i remember, but I'm due for a full re-read soon), and that didn't stop her from having feelings for Varian. She admits that she could have choose to be male when she was remade by the cauldron, but her decision to become females was more rooted in her liking her female form than anything else, so I think that even if Amren had decided to be a Male, their feelings for Varian wouldn't have been affected.

So I think Amren knows that Mor is Gay, even if she has not come out for her yet.

There is a whole discussion on the fandom about if Calanmai is on March or May... I'm not touching this discussion, but we're going to respect the welsh who celebrate it on May, and so this month we will be celebrating Feysand's first meeting!

So if you have a Favourite fan art of that scene drop it. The Fan Art with more Upvotes will be the next Icon.

Voting period will be open until May 1st.
