Vassa Is actually still a Queen... kind of...

In ACOSF we have this one scene in which Jurian announces that Vassa isn't a Queen any longer as her successor has already been crowned as new Queen, something that she argues against saying that she IS still Queen.

>Vassa said to Jurian, “I am a queen, you know.”
A queen by night, and firebird by day, sold by her fellow human queens to a sorcerer-lord who had enchanted her. Damned her into transforming each dawn into a bird of fire and ash. Cassian had waited until sundown to visit, so as to find her in her human form. He needed her to be able to speak.
Jurian crossed an ankle over a knee, his muddy boots dull in the firelight. “Last I heard, your kingdom was no longer yours. Are you still a queen?”
Vassa rolled her eyes, then looked to Lucien, who sank onto the sofa beside Jurian. -ACOSF CH7

She is still a Queen, a Queen Emeritus as she no longer holds power and there is another Queen in charge. But this post isn't about this precisely, but the fact that she is literally "A Queen"

The Name Vassa is often used as a nickname for the Russian name Vasilisa, the feminine form of Vasili, which comes from the Greek Basil "royal, kingly", derived from Basileus meaning "king".

So by definition; Vassa's name (At least the one we know) is actually "Queen" and so Jurian is wrong.

Wonder if Lucien also uses this logic?

Something I wanna see in the next book...

Nessian domestic married life.

That's it, that's what I want. Don't get me wrong, I also want them fighting and doing stuff for the plot and not merely hanging on the background of scenes... But I want this.

I have been revisiting some Nessian scenes from the previous books, and one thing that has caught my attention is that most of the Nessian scenes before ACOSF are breakfast scenes. And oh my god, i'm a puddle on the floor thinking about married Nessian breakfast scenes... and unspeakable shenanigans (sorry not sorry Azriel...)

If Sarah announced she was working on a new book from Rhysand's pov what would you like?

I wake up thinking about this... And while I would love to have his Pov specially from ACOTAR... I would also like to read a story about the Bat Boys and the IC set before ACOTAR, even before UTM or maybe the months leading toward UTM... BUT! I would also want more Feysand... As they're now... So what would you like to read the most?

About ACOTAR covers

I always liked that (I think it was) the French version kept the cover artwork similar to the previous 4 books for ACOSF, and wonder if someone else would have also liked for them to keep that line.

Or if people liked more the new covers, which I also like very much too.

In all honestly I would have liked have both options...

Or if it's time to change the covers again...

Or if the solution is dustjackets to have all books looking similar... (and if so share the ones you use👀 )

Or if you liked the ones from your own country.

Lucien's Variants

I just wanted to share some of the characters that make me think about Lucien, just as I did for Vassa

- Dimitri (Anastasia 1997)
- Ivan Tsarevitch (Ivan, the Grey Wolf and the Firebird Russian Folktale)
- Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast 1991)
- James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie 'Jamie' Fraser (Outlander, this one is totally on Sarah)
- Theon Greyjoy (A Song of Ice and Fire by G. R. R. Martin)
- Maedhros (The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien)
- Robbin Hood (Robbin Hood 1973)
- Lleu Llaw Gyffes/Lugh (Welsh and Irish Mythology)

Lucien's art by Morgana0anagrom

This was fun to make, I made a mix between the characters that Lucien reminded me of while reading the books, the characters Sarah said reminded her of Lucien and some characters i have found pins or were referenced in her old Pinterest Board.

There is something about Lucien that makes me think of Dimitri from Anastasia, and this isn't because i put Anastasia for Vassa, because I don't think their relationship, at least the one they have for most of the movie, is a good reflect of their relationship. But because Dimitri is himself very charming, very sly character... which are characteristics that also Lucien have.

Ivan. When i was little i had two books of Russian Faerytales, so I grow up reading about Ivan a Lot, I adored this particular tale, and I can't stop myself from seeing the parallels, or elements from the faerytales involving Ivan with Lucien's own story.

Lumiere is Lucien. Like, Lucien was meant to be the Lumiere for Feyre and Tamlin's beauty and the beast, so he had to be on this.

Jamie is totally Sarah's fault for mentioning back in 2015 that Sam would be the perfect Lucien. Personally I don't see much between the characters per se, but french court Jamie is I feel the closest to Lucien in aspect.

Theon Greyjoy is ... I'm mostly thinking on his relation with Robb, how he regrets not be next to Robb during the Red Wedding, as it reminds me to Lucien's own feelings about having betrayed Tamlin. Also there was this one fan art of Book 1 Theon with long hair that made me think of Lucien... before the words "golden orb" made me think of Mad Eye (my brain is weird)

I think Maedhros serves as inspiration for both, Lucien and later Eris. He is one of my favourite characters from the Tolkien Universe, maybe only second after Galadriel when it comes to elves. Sarah had a lot of fan arts of him pinned on her boards, and I can easily see him as one of the strongest inspirations for the character.

Robin Hood. This is because of the fox aspect, and could have gone totally to Nick from Zootopia... but personally, i see more of Lucien in Robin, as one of the qualities that Lucien most want people to remember him from is Loyalty, and in this aspect, i think Robin suits him better.

Lleu Llaw Gyffes/Lugh They're seen as equivalent between mythology, with both representing Light, which happen to be asociated with Lucien. There was some Pins in the old boards that made reference to this character, and there are some parallels with their stories that make me think that post ACOTAR!Lucien is inspired by these mythological figures.

What do you think? Do you agree with some of those choices? Would you replace some characters? Should we have a game of build your own Lucien's Variants? Let me know!

Hello, Vassien??

Credit for the pictures to Rizzoreads88 over tumblr

But this is interesting to point out, because it's talking about a new romance, and while there are several options to fill this... Why couldn't it be about Vassien? We have already seen since ACOWAR that there is chemistry between them, and that Lucien is clearly interested in Vassa.

What do we think about this?

Do we think Rhys' mom also left...

...clothing for Nyx?

Yes we're on a mood on this sub about Baby!Nyx headcanons, BUT ... this is actually something i have been thinking. What if there is a little chest hidden away from Rhys' eyes, or enchanted to only appear when the time comes to not spoil the surprise, filled with baby clothing for Nyx made by his grandmother?

The Value of Vassa's Time

>Indeed, Vassa still remained inside, chatting with Lucien animatedly. I supposed that if she only had until dawn before turning back into that firebird, she wanted to make every minute count*. Lucien, surprisingly, was chuckling, his shoulders loose and his head angled while he listened. -*ACOWAR CH80

This for me was the moment I started shipping Vassien.

The fact that Feyre mentions how valuable those moments as human must be for Vassa, and how she must want to make every minute count, reframes the scene that is being shown to us, because is not just Vassa and Lucien chatting, it elevates the scene, it gives a lot more meaning, that relaxing chat they are sharing is important, even if it's not about the politics or what is about to happen to the world next, or even how to save her. They're enjoying each other's company and that's the important thing.

Chess as a medium for Rhys and Elain Training and Bonding.

It's my absolute headcanon that we will get Rhys and Elain playing chess with each other as part of their friendship. And yes, this is totally borrowed from Twilight's scene where Edward and Alice are playing chess, with her predicting all his moves and him reading her mind.

In ACOWAR we see that Elain is actually good in strategy, when she propose moving the humans to the Nolan state. We not only see her come up with a plan (for her own reasons) we see her arguing and winning said argument against the whole IC, answering their questions, explaining the defences and resources of the Nolan State and counter the arguments made against her idea. Feyre said in ACOMAF that Elain could convince people with just a few smiles, but i think she does more than just smile, because there she was in ACOWAR making her case against people who have fought in wars for +500 years and her sisters who wanted to keep her away from the war as much as possible, and winning.

So I think chess might be a good activity to show those qualities more in case SJM wants to do so.

But also, as I said before; Rhysand is a Daemati, while Elain is a Seer; they mirror the Edward and Alice powers. But beside a funny scene with them both playing more in their heads than in the board... this could be used for training.

In ACOWAR Feyre also mentions that Elain lacks mental shields, so one of the things i think will be needed in the next books is for her to make those mental shields. We have already seen Rhysand training Feyre on them, so I could see doing the same with Elain. The fact that is a game, makes it better, because during it Elain not only will need to be forcing herself to try to build and keep those mental shields, but also keep concentration on the game, while also using her own Seer powers to predict Rhys' own movements. You can even add them having a conversation about random issues; which also serves us as a readers to know the characters more and works as an extra distraction for Elain to battle.

This is how you train Elain without a sword.

Now I do think we are going to get other ways of training that will include a dagger as we have seen Elain already using one (and it was glorious), and training in other ways... maybe with Nuala and Cerridwen, or even with Amren, as Feyre mention that she should have made Amren also train Elain in ACOWAR.

But I would love a scene like this.

Will Amren...

In ACOSF it is mentioned that Amren has lost all her powers, and i find estrange that this is something we don't discuss more often on this fandom.

>Amren massaged her temples again. “We can discuss the idiocy of this bargain later.” Feyre glared at her, and Amren glared right back before saying to Cassian, “You and Azriel need to retrieve Eris.”
“Why not you?”
Feyre pinched the bridge of her nose. “Because Amren is …”
“Powerless,” Amren snarled. “You can say it, girl.”
Feyre winced. “Mor left for Vallahan this morning and is out of our daemati magic’s range. Az can’t go in alone. We need you, Cassian.” ACOSF CH64

We normally talk about Nesta's powers, >!that are revealed to still be there in some capacity in CC3,!< but not about Amren's.

So here is my question... what happened to them?

She likely lost them when she became High Fae on the cauldron at the end of ACOWAR, but what happened to her powers? Are they on the Cauldron? Are they in another dimension? Are they coming back at some point? What will happen to Amren? Is she trying to get her powers back?

I just have so many questions about it.

🌹Talking about the Necklace... (Another theory)

In ACOSF we have this scene in which Gwyn seems to have a specially good sense of smell...

So I wonder...

The Necklace was on Elain's neck for some time. There is a specific mention on the bonus chapter about Azriel being able to smell her arousal when they were together on solstice.

I have seen some people use it and theorise about Gwyn thinking that the necklace was a gift from Elain.

But! ...then the Necklace was on Azriel's pocket.

So, if the necklace was to have Elain's own smell, it might also have Azriel's smell, and this could lead to two very funny outcomes if you ask me.

The first one; Gwyn thinking that it was a jointed gift from Azriel and Elain.

The second, which is the one i find most hilarious even, is that Gwyn might be the second person to know something actually happened between Azriel and Elain!

And I say second, because Rhys actually cough them about to kiss. But for as much as Feyre questioned why not making them mates in ACOWAR, and Nesta knowing that Azriel has feeling for Elain in ACOSF, they doesn't know that there is something between the two of them.

And what makes this whole theory even funnier is that in CC Nesta actually wants to know what is going on with Azriel's romantic life. And yes, that could come from Nesta's own observation about her sister and the shadow singer exchanging charged glances and her knowing about his feelings for her sister... just imagine if Gwyn had mention at some point post ACOSF about the necklace she got on Solstice smelling like both Azriel and Elain?!

Overall this theory is a funny "What if", and isn't meant to be taken serious. But what do you think about it?
