Devilman Timeline
i want to talk about the Devilman Timeline and the misconceptions that there are about it.
the biggest misconception is that the series is stuck in an infinite loop of satan experiencing the same events over and over with little variations to them.
while yes that is apart of the series at a point in time, it is not the whole of the series and isnt introduced until Devilman Lady and later expanded upon in Amon Darkside of Devilman which are a Sequel and a Spin off written by another author(yet it does help expand upon what is shown in Lady and helps connect one sequel to another).
the Timeline of Devilman and what is canon to it requires a lot of author commentary and databook statements to see which series line up with eachother and what applies where.
we see that there are a lot that applies to the Devilman series, in just author commentary and databook statemetns we see that:

Devilman Saga the Finale to Devilmans story.
You see that Devilman Lady and Amon DSOD are more towards the middle of the overall story in the Devlman Timeline.
with Maou Dante being the beginning / the predecessor / prototype to Devilmans story.
the plot of Maou Dante / Shin Maou Dante is that the earth is invaded by a God that traveled from deep space made from the collection of a worlds entire population that turned into an angry spirit that wants a physical existence.
the inhabitants refused to be controlled by this god and when faced with erasure of mind and body from a transcendent flame they refused death, absorbing this divine power of this god and becoming demons.
the war between demons and the god raged on for millions of years with dante reincarnating into a new society to save his sister then re start the old war. the god having lived a physical existence re learns its morals and decides to leave the planet freeing the inhabitants of an eternal war.
but leaving them did not change them and now there were no humans but only demons left.
we see that Go Nagai gave a illustration that the demons in Devilman were brought out the same way but when god the creator of the universe came back he saw the demons deeming them unsightly and threatened there existence.
satan thought they deserved to exist even if they are ugly and cruel, so he rebelled and the demons and satan won against god forcing him to retreat.
they hid in the ice and after millions of years When they woke up humanity had taken over earth, satan implants himself into the human collective unconscious to learn humanitys weakness.
But he fell in love with akira giving him Amon the strongest Demon so that he could survive in a world of Denons.
Satan figures out humanitys weakness aka Fear and Confusion, he manipulated the hearts of Man causing man to kill itself off more than even the Demons did.
The only thing satan couldn't control was akira. He viewed akira as an individual allowing akira to resist satans manipulative powers and form the Devilman army which he led against satan.
The Devilman army lost and Devilman was defeated by satan.
In both of there last moments satan realizes his mistake and apologizes to akira before gods return which erased everything including satan and akira.
Ending the OG manga
In Violence Jack the direct sequel to the OG Devilman manga we see that shortly after God erased everything including satan and akira, satan regains form and recreated the world.
Satan has the exact same abilities as god so recreating the world was more of a casual feat to him.
He recreated the whole world but due to his guilt of killing humanity and his best friend satan turns himself into a humsn forgetting his memories and punishing himself as he is now a slave to the slum king.
The story of violence jack is about the internal war of good vs evil.
All those born into this world are representations of the inner good or evil in satans heart.
Which ever side won is how satan would be reborn.
Satan resurrected akira and had him exist in this world he created as an outside force that can help change the flow of the story. Aka Violence Jack.
In the end the slave ryo was killed by the slum king satans biggest evil incarnate which resulted in evil satan being reborn.
Jack seeing this realizes satan will try to turn this world into nothing just as easily as he created it.
Jack merges with his 2 other selves becoming Devilman and then flying into space to 1v2 Satan and Zenon. Devilman won freeing the world from destruction.
We see that jacks world that was created by satan has its own personal parallel dimensions
We see that the world of violence jack is connected to the overall go nagai multiverse as we see a ton of crossovers in here.
Shin violence jack plot is that the skull king created a world from the fragments of malice in his heart, in this world there are dead who arrived here unknowingly.
violence jack confronts the skull king who is revealed to be Akira, the Skull Kings Castle after this realization ascends into the sky finishing the series.
Amon DSOD, the plot is that satan is trapped in an infinite loop of him experiencing the events of the og manga.
but this white child is born into the world along with the white monster. the white child is later revealed to be a piece of satan that was torn from him in his rebellion against god and was destroyed.
it was reborn into this world and saw that it was not a free world controlled by a great will. we see that the existence of both the white child and white monster was to help change the great wills flow.
the white child is told about the moon of amon which is the collection of a previous race of demons that had the power to rival gods. the white child beat and absorbed the 1st amon making him the 2nd amon.
when confronting satan about who is he it is shown that the white child resembles akira so much it made satan remember an event that hasnt happened yet forcing him to see the prison he is in.
Devilman Lady is a story about Jun Fudo a Woman who is later revealed to be a split persona of Satan.
Satan split himself into Jun and Asuka to hide from michael who was essentially god to the whole reality.
satans whole goal was to revive Devilman and start a war against michael and gods army.
the whole universe is designed for war as stronger and stronger beings are born as the whole of reality is drawn into it breaking all of realities fundementals down causing it to return to chaos.
hell heaven and the whole universe is drawn into this war until it is ultimately reset at the end of the story.
the interesting thing about Devilman Lady is how Michael is treated throughout it. he defines the universes Past, Present, and Future aswell as controlling Heaven and Hell. his thoughts and expressions are directly compared to Carl G Jungs Archetypes which are directly stated to be transcendent of Time and Space. so essentially his mere thoughts DEFINE reality itself.
another cool thing is that the verse directly uses Dantes Divine Comedy with the usage of the 9 layers of Hell with some of the layers having its own seperate layers within itself.
Purgatory, the spheres of heaven and then the "Supreme Heaven" / Empyrean the highest heaven where God/Michael is.
it is a place beyond Space and Time.
i have not reviewed Devilman Saga fully as only Half of it is fully translated. im working on translating it but only have rough translations to work with so ill update this Timeline at a later time.
