Finally painted these grey walls!
Feels so me finally! Been meaning to do this since we bought the place over a year ago.

Ive been wanting to get rid of this millennial grey since the day we moved in over a year ago. Everyone tried to convince me that the grey was working. So happy I listened to my inner voice here. Limewash took over 5 days from start to finish, but so worth it!
Because I did so much research before the process, here is a post I would have benefited/ liked if I were to go back in time:
-I used a Benjamin Moore colour and mixed it with lime. The store mixed it for me.
-I needed 3 coats of primer, so it took longer than expected (with all the drying, it took me 5 days start to finish. My kitchen is 430 sq feet of wall surface)
-I used a basic acrylic primer. Not the the lime primer.
-I did the first coat with a trimming brush and a block brush but then did the second coat with a big car washing sponge, as per my moms advice. Much easier to work with and I like the shapes that came through more than the lines from a brush.
- I added water to the paint constantly. I preferred working with a thinner paint that was easy to spread. It does splash and leak everywhere though, so be careful. I bought a lot of that painters plastic to basically cover every surface that wasn’t being painted.
-I chose not to paint ceilings. I didn’t want to feel like I was in a cave.
-first coat came on so dark and even though the internet told me not to freak out, I did. It looked like diarrhea on my walls.
-I ordered one of those big white buckets of this stuff (3.8 litres maybe?) and because I was watering it down, I have waaaaay too much leftover. Could have just used a gallon. Only did two coats of Limewash.
-area by sink is already an issue bc of the splashing. Will have to do a backsplash, so I don’t freak out all the time.
-wore gloves on day two when using sponge. This stuff dries out your skin. Didn’t wear long sleeves or protective eyewear. Just a ball cap.
-I had fun. Yesteryear is an amazing audiobook.
-if you’re thinking of doing limewash. Do it! So worth it.
I recently ran a marathon where I passed a man that had a kidney donor tattoo on the back of his leg. Obviously, this led to a conversation and a quick hug before I carried on. He told me his goal is influence at least 1 person to donate in his life and that the tattoo was a great conversational started. Curious if other people have tattoos for the same reason? I'm debating it.
