Navigating a new dress code?

I’ve worked at the same Montessori school for 12 years and we’ve had the same dress code. It was business casual but comfortable (no jeans) since we’re on the ground with children all day.

The school was purchased by an education corporation and they came and changed the dress code to “elevated casual” with jeans being allowed as long as there is no distressing. The only direction we have received so far is no sweat pants, no hoodies or crew necks, no leggings and sneakers must be clean.

I have a fall/winter “uniform” in that I wear black dress pants and I switch up the t shirt and cardigan. I will very rarely wear a blouse. I want to start incorporating jeans into said “uniform” but I am unsure if a fitted t shirt/long sleeve is “elevated” enough for the dress code.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Women only gyms?

I’ve beaten heart failure and lost over 50 lbs on my own; and I’m ready to get into a gym. I don’t really know what I am doing so I think I would feel more comfortable attending a gym that is for women only (or if anyone has any suggestions for a gym location that isn’t so busy) I am in North York around Bathurst and Finch, but willing to drive a bit.

Normal anxiety for 3.5 year old?

Our daughter has never shown any separation anxiety. She started Montessori at 15 months and never once cried at drop off. She’s always loved leaving the house with her dad to run errands. She started spending weekends at my parents house when she was 18 months and always asked for them to come get her. Until recently, that is.

1 week ago me and my husband went to a baseball game. As we were leaving, she started having a panic attack. Hyperventilating, crying, screaming for me to not leave. We didn’t make it 15 minutes before we turned around and ended up bringing her with us while my parents stayed back with our toddler. Since then, she’s been crying at school drop off, she doesn’t want to leave to run errands with dad, and when I’ve left for an appointment she’s just crying for me to come back.

I have GAD and SAD, but I’m unsure at what age it started for me (ever since I can remember, honestly)

Is this typical preschooler behaviour, or is this the start of an anxiety disorder? I’ll mention it at her 4 year dr appointment, I just want to hear from others who may have dealt with something similar!

Recent non scale victories!

I’ve been on Ozempic since late December. I’ve lost 43 lbs. I was hoping it would be a lot more by now!

Even though I’ve lost weight I’ve been feeling like I still look the same. I don’t feel any different, I didn’t notice my body getting smaller, until…

I started this journey at a size 20, and a month or so ago I had to dig out my size 18’s that I stashed away in 2022. I just placed an order for size 16 jeans because the 18’s are now too big.

I went to a baseball game this past weekend and my first thought upon sitting was “I didn’t know they replaced the seats and made them bigger.” It took me a little while to realize it was me who got smaller, not the seats being bigger. I could also cross my legs way more comfortably than before. After the game I climbed a very large staircase that would have winded me before, perfectly fine and still in breath when I reached the top. All this to say, if you feel like the scale isn’t moving as fast as you like, think of all the ways (small or large) your life has improved already! It really put things into perspective for me!

Is this considered blurring the lines?

I work at a Montessori school, but I am currently on maternity leave. My 3 year old attends the school, and still attends while I am off. She has never been invited to a birthday party, until now. She has been invited to 2, she is so excited! She really wants me to take her, and I agreed (but I woke up sick today so I can’t take her to this one)

I know relationships outside of the centre are frowned upon (for good reason) so would this be considered the same thing? Should my husband always be the one to take her?

I did ask my supervisors a while ago if this came up if it would be ok, and they said it was, but it still has me feeling a certain way.
