Law has been set up to die since his flashback.
Let’s examine some facts that point to the idea that law is definitely not surviving the series.
- He’s the inheritor of the will of Corazon, who sacrificed himself with a smile on his face
- He holds the series biggest Chekhovs gun in the immortality surgery.
- His primary narrative arc concluded with the defeat of Doflamingo but Oda has kept him narratively important as his sacrifice will be his ultimate narrative arc
- His fate following the defeat of Blackbeard is intentional vague to allow him to complete the next part of his story cleanly.
D clan members die with a smile on their face and Law has slowly had his humanity brought back to the surface by Luffy this’ll be how he dies with his smile. In service of the man who showed him the promise in the world. Law will die in service of the dawn of the world.
The kicker though? I see this functioning more as a revival than a procedure performed while alive. Luffy needs to die to remove his devil fruit from the equation. Oda has purposefully obscured the narrative around Luffy. To him being special as a result of his fruit. He is going to need to prove to the world that he wasn’t made special by the fruit, but that because of him the fruit was made legendary.
