Looking for PC game recs: Loved Hollow Knight & Animal Well, but hate Elden Ring and menu-heavy RPGs.
Hey everyone, I need help finding my next PC game. I have a very specific taste and get bored easily by certain mechanics, so I’m looking for hidden gems or precise masterpieces. Here is my breakdown:
Games I ABSOLUTELY LOVE:
- Top Tier: Hollow Knight and Animal Well. I love flawless movement, cryptic atmosphere, non-linear exploration, and discovering secrets on my own using clever items/tools without hand-holding.
- Other Favorites: Zelda: BotW, Minecraft, Fortnite, Cuphead, Super Mario Maker, GTA, and Mario Kart DS. I enjoy creative freedom, fun physics, mechanical precision, and sandbox chaos.
Games I ABSOLUTELY HATE / Do Not Care For:
- 3D Difficulty Walls: Hate Elden Ring. I don't want brutal 3D combat or frustrating soulslike camera angles.
- Menu & Stat Bloat: Hate Genshin Impact. I cannot stand massive inventory management, heavy text/dialogue, or gacha mechanics.
- Unfun Gameplay: Hate Undertale (I like the story, but the actual gameplay bores me) and Roblox.
- Already Tried & Dislike (Do NOT recommend): Terraria, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Tchia, Lego Bricktales, Just Cause 3, Cyberpunk 2077, or Neon White.
What am I looking for?
I want something with rock-solid, fluid controls. It could be a cryptic, atmospheric puzzle-exploration game (like Animal Well) or a physics-based sandbox where creativity shines, but with zero visual bloat, minimal menus, and quick action. Just pure, brilliant gameplay design.
What PC gems am I missing? Thanks!
