Help me pick a piano

I just moved out to the country and am living in a terrace cottage. My initial plan was to get the clp845 or kawai 501. After extensive research I've come to realise that the sound systems in these are simply too much with neighbours on either side. I was advised against the clp825s and decided on the clp 835 and a pair of sennheiser hd 560s. I'm actually not too fussed about the wooden keys on the 845 and liked the keys on the 835. I was then told about the kawais cn201, 301, and ca301. I'm currently swaying towards the 835/ hd 560s combo. I am upgrading from a glarry gdp203 so it's a huge upgrade. I'm 300 hours into learning now and do 6 20 mins sessions a day and want to progress on a better piece of equipment for the next 4-5 years. Any recommendations?

TV placement

Hi, not sure if this is the right subreddit, but:

Just moved into a new house and need a bigger TV. Wasn't sure whether above the fireplace would be too high and to keep it where it is. Distance from the TV to the viewing position on the sofa in its current position is 2.85m. Would 75 inch be suitable or could we go bigger?

Thanks

Feedback on syncopation

Hi,

I just reached the first Piece in Faber adult book two tonight that introduced syncopation, and from my Piano Marvel experience I have realised I am awful at it and struggle to count whilst playing. I started playing it very slowly and built up over an hour or so but think I'm way off. My piano teacher is off for the summer hols so I can't get any feedback from him at present. I've attached my attempt at Yellow Bird. I'm currently at 170 or so hours into my piano journey.

Thanks!

Carnival of Venice- Feedback

I've been working on the final piece from Faber Adult all in One, which has been very enjoyable. My teacher went away for the summer holidays last month so been self learning for the past 4 weeks. I know this sounds terrible and my wrists are far too low, but otherwise what do I need to work on?

I've been playing just over two hours a day for 60 days now. I do 30 mins of Piano Marvel, 30 minutes of Faber then four 15 minutes sessions of pieces from Faber Popular 1 and then some scales spread out throughout the day.

I'm also looking at a new piano as this one sounds horrific. I'm going to mostly be playing pop/rock with some classical thrown in, and can't decide between the Kawaii CA501 or the Yamaha CLP845. Any feedback on this would be appreciated :)

Secondly, I've started looking into using pedal more this last week as up until now it's something I've very much neglected, hence the lack/overuse of it in this piece.

Thanks!

Help deciding based on price

Today I visited Rimmer's Music in Edinburgh and loved the feel of the following:

Roland LX5 - £1895 in black

Yamaha CLP845 - £1948

Roland HP702 (tiny mark on it) - £1341

Kawaii CA501 - £1948

All felt good to play, just looking for the best sound system overall and something that will last me through my beginner stages (upgrading from a cheap 200 Glarry).

Thanks!

Upgrade for total beginner

I have got a second hand Glarry GDP203 that I paid £100 for, and after 180 hours of learning over 3 months I've decided I want to take piano seriously. I'm moving into a cottage so won't be playing in a massive room with high ceilings, but I would like something with crisp loud sound. The Glarry sounds awful (as I expected) and everything sounds muffled. Was looking at the Yamaha CLP 825 but then all the comments suggested going for the 835, which is a fair leap in price as I'm already going a bit over with the 825. Does anyone have any other recommendations? I'd be looking for a cabinet style one and read that the sound system on the Clavinovas is excellent

Thanks

Attempt at Ice Skaters

I'm on day 32 of learning the piano and been working through Faber and Piano Marvel alongside some flashcards to learn the notes on the staff. This was the first major challenge I faced in Faber. Any suggestions on how to improve as it sounds awful (obviously given my experience) compared to other learners on YouTube are welcome. I started it last night and this is the first song I've found myself looking at the keys when I make a point not to.

Thanks

Supplementary books

Hi, I'm on day 25 of learning the piano from scratch (Faber adult book 1, piano marvel and one 30 minute lesson a week). Been doing 3 hours a day in 30 minutes sessions and I'm now just finishing the sleeping beauty waltz, which was the trickiest one yet! For when I finish Faber all in one book 1 I plan on getting book two, but also wanted some additional more 'fun' things to play at my level. Would you recommend Faber popular (or Disney) level 1, or to get the Faber sight-reading book?

Thanks

Middle C

I've been working through Piano Marvel, Faber's book and Alfred's book and had three 30 minute lessons now. I'm on day 14 and just managed to learn What Can I Share at tempo in about 15 minutes with no issues. Only problem is that when I look back at older pieces that start with both hands starting on middle C it feels so awkward and almost harder now. Is this normal and is there a way around this? Starting one octave down feels so much easier and I was having no issues going from C major to G7 etc but then as soon as I tried the both hands on middle C I was so confused!

Peugeot 2008 (2024) 1.2 puretech oil warning

Hi, I had an orange spanner notification last week and ignored it for a few days then I got a red flashing oil container. For the past few days it's sometimes there and other times when I turn the engine off and on it disappears. Went to a garage and they took the oil reading and said it's fine and could be £1000 to fix. Took oil reading myself today after being parked for an hour and it was sitting right on the minimum. Does this sound like something that could be fixed with a simple oil top up or a more serious issue? No oil leaking and car sounds totally normal when driving.
