Reolink RLN8-410 totally dead

My RLN8-410 (~3 years old) is totally lifeless, not even boot screen or any flashing LEDs, is it beyond saving?

While I haven’t tried a different PSU (only have the one it came with), the LED on the PSU is a static green, and the voltage is correct at ~48.

Disconnecting the HDD does not make it boot at all either. Is the board just fried? Seems pretty nuts for it to be dead after just 3 years without any prior issues

Also to note it doesn’t boot from a totally different outlet with all the PoE cables unplugged and ONLY the power plugged in. The physical ON/OFF switch is also not the issue

Buying used old car as a student (zero experience)

hey guys, last few months i’ve been trying to convince my dad to either let me take the axia i’m driving in penang to uni in selangor to use it there or buy a cheap old car (satria, wira, viva type price) but he’s been pushing it off.

i genuinely feel like i need a car to move around, mainly because my right ankle is bad post-op 2 years ago and walking long distance with bags and stuff is honestly tough, especially in this weather.

i’ve tried to convince but sadly my parents think my leg is 100% fine and i get the usual asian parents response of “just walk more, exercise more and it’ll be fine”

so now i’m thinking about buying one on my own and obviously only keeping it at uni, parking and stuff would not be an issue

is this a good idea? i’m a total noob when it comes to this though, the whole process like inspection, roadtax insurance and what not

Identifying UART location if any

hi guys, complete noob here and never worked on anything on this level, just have time to burn and i’m bored

i have this android tv box that i want to try and flash linux on and it involves getting access to the bootloader to compile the kernel image. i’ve tested the 5 pin header below the SoC with a multimeter and tried hooking GND TX and RX to an adapter but nothing showed up in the terminal.

i saw another post with the exact same board (7501E-00-1811-V1.2, HiSilicon Hi3798MV200) but it’s 5 years old and didn’t really get solved.

worth noting (edit: spelling)
- i tried measuring the pitch of the 5-pin header and it was 2.36mm, assuming i measured correctly

- this box is basically junk, so it’s not critical if anything goes wrong
