Asheville Preschool Knows What’s Up.

We recently relocated from Austin to Asheville and my son came home with this art project from school this week.

“Hey buddy, what’s that?”

“It’s a Billy Strings headband!”

I think we chose wisely.

We are also flexible on the exact move-in date if a qualified prospective tenant needs to move in sooner.

The sublease would run through December 11, 2026 (potentially extendable through the end of the year
and beyond), with the option for the new tenants to extend the lease directly with the landlord thereafter.

Property Overview:

Moving Cross Country

Looking for some tips and tricks from the community for those who have gone down this path before.

I’m relocating from Austin to Asheville and I’m planning on bringing all my gear and records with me.

For my main setup I have a set of La Scalas, a Marantz 6300 Turntable and a McIntosh MA 230 Tube Amp.

My secondary office setup is a set of Heresy’s with a Marantz 2270, ADCOM preamp, a Debut Carbon TT and a couple of CD players (ADCOM + NAD). To top it off, I have roughly 1200 records too. Also bringing my HK430 receiver as well that I’m not currently using.

The records are pretty straight forward. Cherry pick the ones that don’t grow on trees, have them ride in my car with me and pack up the rest in the BCW storage boxes and put them in the pods.

The gear is much more problematic. I have a Tacoma and I was planning on packing all the amps up with me in the cab as well as both TT’s. I’m going to take the weights off both as well as the dust covers and platters and pack them separately. The La Scalas are massive and will be packed carefully in the covered bed. The Hersery’s will probably go in the wife’s car or the pods if I can’t get them in the bed with the La Scala’s. Everything else goes in the pods as well.

I am also entertaining the possibility of pulling a U-Haul trailer behind the truck with some of the gear as well though that is where it gets tricky. I have never hauled any equipment and/or records that far before and am very nervous how they will do in a trailer over a couple of days bouncing around and in the sun in June. Similarly, I feel just as uneasy about the pods since I’m unsure on how they will be transported and stored until we are ready to unpack them. No clue there in what the best option would be.

I keep going round and round on how best to get all of this gear and equipment halfway across the country without spending tons of money, time and energy doing so while also causing the least amount of stress and or damage to everything.
