I just had a random thought, is the player controlled villager in Animal Crossing a furry?

When you think about it, the player plays a human character, and all the other villagers are animals.

A53 5G custom ROMs?

I have this phone and I managed to install Infinity X on the phone but wondering if there's anything else I somehow managed to downgrade it to One UI7 and unlock it so this isn't an issue

I need your help. My friends refuse to switch to Signal

I tried by sending a message in my GC with my friends on WhatsApp, but the admin just deleted the message. I guess they want AI in places it shouldn't be. What can I do? They obviously don't want to juggle two apps, but I'm hoping if I get them on Signal, they'll make it their main, but they REFUSE. It's so annoying

Why is the BBC always a FIFA broadcast partner?

Every year I remember the World Cup being broadcast on BBC iPlayer and ITVX, is it as simple as the BBC paying the most money?

EuroWiki - my MediaWiki based wiki about anything European

It's only getting off the ground, but I'm looking to improve it. A page can be made about anything that relates to Europe. There are currently only 3 pages:

  • BBC
  • UK
  • ROI

I'm working on it, so will get more pages, but it is availble to edit by anyone. Based on MediaWiki - the same tech used by Wikipedia and Fandom. It is hosted on a Pi 5 using Docker and made available using Tailscale Funnel.

Any British GrapheneOS users who have found an app that works for NatWest that isn't Google Wallet?

I have a NatWest Bank account and obviously can't use Google wallet because GrapheneOS doesn't pass both aspects of Play integrity, so I'm wondering if anyone uses anything else.

Pixel Watch 3 has unlockable bootloader, but no custom firmware. Why?

Is the Google pixel watch not as open as the phone because it doesn't seem to have the same ecosystem of custom environments.

Bootloader not unlockable anymore?

Odin mode on my Tab S8 no longer shows an unlock option on One UI 8 but did on UI 7. I think it's because of Euro politics, but I'm in the UK, where EU laws dont apply. Why is my bootloader permently locked? Can I unlock it?

GrapheneOS is for everyone, not just "deGooglers"

I use GrapheneOS and I have Google Mobile Services on the main Owner profile, and a profile without. GrapheneOS's is for everyone. Some people want security, but also want ease of use, side loading APKs isn't the easiest for everyone, and Play provides convince. I do use Pixel Camera, but without network permissions. If someone wants Google Services, don't downvote them.

How to use Pixel Watch 3 privately with Graphene?

I got a Pixel Watch 3 for Christmas last year. I love it, but then searching for custom OSes, I remembered about Graphene so researched and installed it. My Pixel Watch 3 works fine with sandboxed GMS, but I'm wondering if I can use it more privately. Obviously Graphene for the watch can't exist because the Fitbit health stack is proprietary and even WearOS itself is proprietary. What can I do on the stock watch OS and in Graphene Settings to make it more private?

Nextcloud - use it if you're able to.

Hi, a couple months ago, I was looking to get away from both GDrive and OneDrive. I came across Nextcloud when looking at the software app in dietpi (a custom Raspberry Pi OS). I then decided to install it on a more powerful computer running Ubuntu Server. It was easy enough to set up, and, unlike other GDrive alternatives mentioned here, is fully FOSS and has no subscription. It does use Docker, but I'm sure you could run it on Podman. If you want more storage, just buy a bigger hard drive. Here are some Nextcloud apps that can be used as alternatives to Google services:

  • Google Docs - Nextcloud Office (uses Collabora Office which is based on LibreOffice)
  • Google Keep - Nextcloud Notes
  • Google Photos - Nextcloud Photos
  • Google Calendar - Nextcloud Calendar
  • Google Contacts - Nextcloud Contacts
  • Google Tasks - Nextcloud Tasks
  • Gmail - Nextcloud doesn't allow you to make your own email address, but you can use the Mail app as an alternative front-end for Gmail, Proton Mail, etc.

Some of the apps mentioned above may need to be installed. You can do this by clicking your user profile in the top right of the Web UI and clicking "Apps".

Forgive me GrapheneOS, for I have sinned, I installed the stock OS.

I wanted to try Android Canary, so I installed it from the official Goole tool. I used GrapheneOS for 2 months and I LOVE it. It's amazing. I have the GrapheneOS page open for reinstallation.

Careers - BBC Level 6 software engineering apprenticeship - currently at GCSE level

I’m a student from Northern Ireland and I’m aiming for the BBC Level 6 Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Salford once I finish school.

I'd appreciate any advice from people who've completed or are completing the apprenticeship. How do I make myself stand out? How likely am I to stay after the apprenticeship (I want to). I’m also planning to set up a small tech support business during my gap year (helping individuals and small businesses with IT issues, networking, cloud setup, etc.) to build real‑world experience before applying.

My current GCSE subjects (CCEA):

  • Digital Technology
  • English Language
  • English Literature
  • Maths
  • Further Maths
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • French
  • Spanish

My planned A‑levels:

  • Maths
  • Computer Science
  • Physics

NI - My (15y/o) parents want to get "a court order that allows them to have control of me until I'm 21". Can someone explain?

Hi, I'm a 15 y/o in a regular school, my parents want to get a court order for control until I'm 21. I'm not as bad as most autistic people. I'm inclined to believe the aforementioned court order is a real thing as I've seen posts from British subreddits mentioning carers. I recently went to Spain with my school and there was only one problem: I went to the bathroom in our hostel and the others left without me, however, I used my initiative and phoned our trip emergency number and got picked up. In school, I get along fine and in exams I only have Extra Time and word processor privileges. When I'm 18 I plan to move to England and get a job in Software Engineering and I feel like this would definitely interfere. I could apply when 21 but I want an apprenticeship at the same company. I am mostly responsible. Can i do anything?

I'm looking to join the fandom, but I know basically nothing about it outside of a minute of googling and a YT video. What is Fursona? What are some other terms I should know? Can I be a furry without being LGBTQ?
