I need to do something that compliments the brick next to the fire place.

Any ideas of what we can do in the second picture? Initially wanted to replace tile with the same wood, but contractor said it wouldn’t be that easy. I would have to replace everything and make it vinyl flooring instead of the beautiful wood already in place.

I want to replace those two ceiling light fixtures with something less clunky. Would it be possible to buy a large light fixture to connect the two?
