[28F] Two events with massive reactions to supplements – looking for people with similar reaction patterns

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to make sense of two specific reactions that derailed my whole system. Maybe someone here recognizes the pattern.

Background (short): 28 F, BMI 17.5, documented severe gut dysbiosis after antibiotics in 2024 (Akkermansia 0 %, all neuroactive species 0 %), elevated plasma histamine (tryptase normal, IgE neg). Low BP since adolescence. After 6 months of rebuilding with baobab + L-glutamine + probiotics I was almost stable — then these two events happened.

Event 1 – Supplement cocktail on empty stomach

Taken in the morning on an empty stomach:

  • L-glutamine
  • Vitamin C
  • Baobab powder
  • Probiotics

Within hours: weakness, numbness, BP drop, deep exhaustion → ER.

Bloodwork: hyponatremia (Na 132), metabolic acidosis (TCO₂ 19), strong stress leukocytosis with lymphopenia + eosinopenia. No infection.

Event 2 – NAC at a normal dose

A single substance, normal daily dose (~600 mg): NAC (N-acetylcysteine).

Reaction: near-syncope, drastic energy crash, bedridden. Recovery over weeks insufficient, energy never came back.

What both events have in common:

  • Systemic reaction (not local): BP, energy, CNS
  • Massively disproportionate to substance amount
  • Long after-effects (days to weeks)
  • Substrate-unspecific – different pharmacological profiles, similar reaction pattern
  • Since event 2 I'm stuck in a downward spiral, my body over-reacts to nearly everything

Possible mechanisms I'm considering:

  • MCAS-light / mast cell hyperreactivity
  • Hyperadrenergic POTS (vasodilators tip the system over)
  • H₂S overproduction via dysbiotic microbiome (Bilophila wadsworthia at upper limit) — would explain NAC reaction through sulfur metabolism
  • Reductive stress (my GSH/GSSG ratio was 44, norm 10–15)

My questions for you:

  1. Has anyone reacted to NAC at a normal dose like this? Near-syncope, energy crash, long after-effect?
  2. Has anyone experienced a supplement cocktail on empty stomach that led to ER? What was it for you?
  3. Who has discovered the connection dysbiotic microbiome + sulfur/H₂S sensitivity for themselves? What helped?
  4. Who has come out of a hyperreactive state after a crash like this, and how?

Thanks for any shared experience.

Update Todos

  • Read all remaining 12 specialist agent files
  • Synthesize multi-agent assessment for Lilian's current crisis
  • Write event-focused forum posts (DE + EN) for the 2 specific reactions

[28F] Slowly stabilized from post-antibiotic damage with supplements over 6 months – then crashed by trying to restart them. Anyone been through this?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for people with similar experiences because my picture has no clear label from doctors yet.

Quick about me: 28, female, underweight (BMI 17.5), sick at varying intensities for 4 years, currently in a bad phase.

My story:

  • March 2022: severe COVID (3 weeks)
  • 2022–2023: flu-like infections every 2–3 months
  • July 2024: after antibiotics for bronchitis, the real trouble started — abdominal pain after every meal, skin reactions, sneezing, fatigue
  • Diagnosed: severe gut dysbiosis (Akkermansia 0 %, all neuroactive species 0 %) + candida overgrowth
  • Several ER visits for "allergy-like" reactions (IgE tested negative)

What worked:
Over about 6 months I consistently worked with baobab powder, L-glutamine and probiotics. Step by step it got better — by the end no more histamine reactions, just occasional mild abdominal pain. I could eat normally again.

Where it went downhill:
After feeling better I stopped the supplements. Some time later I wanted to restart them. After one supplement cocktail (several things at once, partly on an empty stomach) my body shut down completely within one day — it felt like poisoning, I ended up in hospital.
Since then I've been stuck in a downward spiral. My system over-reacts to almost any substance and any intervention.

Current main symptoms:

  • Extreme fatigue, can't manage daily life
  • Low BP, dizziness, near-syncope on standing
  • Brain fog (since adolescence, now much worse)
  • Internal body tremor / vibrations, "stress surges" with no trigger, dilated pupils
  • New: joint, leg and back pain
  • Reproducible reactions to walnuts, cocoa, fermented foods, high-histamine foods

What's already documented:

  • Severe post-antibiotic gut dysbiosis
  • Elevated plasma histamine (tryptase normal, IgE neg → not classic MCAS)
  • DEXA: osteoporosis-range at femur (at age 28!)
  • Sarcopenic threshold (very low muscle mass)
  • Recurring mild metabolic acidosis without clear cause
  • 4 hospital presentations in 6 months with stress-pattern bloodwork but no infection

What doctors say:
"Stabilize first" — but without a concrete plan. Nobody knows how to get me out of this hyperreactive state.

Suspected hypotheses (from my own research):

  • Post-antibiotic dysbiosis (confirmed) as original trigger
  • MCAS-light / mast cell hyperreactivity (re-triggered by the crash)
  • Hyperadrenergic POTS
  • hEDS spectrum (S-scoliosis, low BP, brain fog since youth, thin corneas)
  • RED-S from chronic underweight

My questions for you:

  1. Has anyone been through this exact arc — slow stabilization with a targeted protocol → stopped supplements → crashed when trying to restart?
  2. How do you get out of a "my-body-reacts-to-everything" state when every intervention triggers a reaction?
  3. What strategy got you back on solid ground after a crash like this?
  4. Who has found a good specialist for this combination (dysbiosis/MCAS/POTS/hEDS) — in Europe or Asia?

Thanks for any shared experience — even if only one piece resonates.

Hilfe bei komplexer Krankheit! Bin dankbar für jede Hilfe!

Hi zusammen,

Meine Geschichte:

  • Oktober 2025: Diagnostiziert: schwere Mikrobiom-Dysbiose (Akkermansia 0 %, alle neuroaktiven Spezies 0 %) + Candida-Befall
  • März 2026: Einnahme div. Supplements auf nüchternen Magen (Baobap-Pulver, L-Glutamin, Vitamin C, Probiotika) -> Krankenhaus Aufenthalt (Ursache Unklar)

Was funktioniert hat:

Januar 2026: 4 Wochen nahezu symptomfrei, konnte alles essen, hatte Energie.

Aktuelle Hauptsymptome:

  • Extreme Erschöpfung, Alltag kaum möglich
  • Niedriger Blutdruck, Schwindel, Kopfschmerzen
  • Brain Fog
  • Blutzuckerprobleme
  • Schlechter Schlaf. Kann aktuell nur mit Supplements (Gaba+Magnesium+Melatonin schlafen).

Was bereits dokumentiert ist:

  • Schwere postantibiotische Mikrobiom-Dysbiose
  • Plasma-Histamin erhöht (Tryptase normal, IgE neg → kein klassisches MCAS)
  • DEXA: Osteoporose-Bereich am Femur (mit 28!)
  • Sarkopenie-Schwelle (sehr wenig Muskel)
  • Wiederkehrende leichte metabolische Azidose ohne klare Erklärung
  • 4 Klinikvorstellungen in 6 Monaten mit Stress-Blutbild ohne Infekt

Was die Ärzte sagen:

  • Hyperadrenerger POTS
  • hEDS-Spektrum (S-Skoliose, niedriger BD, Brain Fog seit Jugend, dünne Hornhäute)
  • MCAS-light
  • RED-S durch chronisches Untergewicht

Meine Fragen an euch:

Was würdet ihr in meiner Situation tun? Trennen ist keine Option. Das würde ich mir nicht verzeihen
