This thing is a grip and case that turns your Dualshock 4 into a “Force Feedback” Lightgun with a trigger.
I made this specifically with the purpose of emulating the feel of arcade lightguns with force feedbackm it's obviously not an exact match but I find it emulates the feel rather nicely.
Did you know that the Dualshock 4 makes for an excellent Lightgun with "force feedback" if configured properly?
Cus you can, you don’t even need to 3D print anything to do it, you can just use DS4Windows to set it up so that pulling the triggers both vibrates and changes the Lightbar color. also It uses the DS4s gyro for aiming.
First thing is getting DS4Windows set up properly.
- Under the Gyro tab, set the “Output mode” to “Mouse” adjust as needed. I like to set it to “Toggle” with a custom button so it isn’t activated as soon as you connect the controller.
- Choose your default Lightbar color.
- In the Axis config, you will need to adjust the deadzone for the L2 & R2 Triggers so as not to have it activate when you don’t need it, you can set this fairly high (I set it as 0,69) as the trigger should pull them both all the way
- On the Controls panel, set up the triggers by clicking on them.
- In the “Extra” section. Change the “Heavy” and “Light” rumble to the max (225 in my case)
- Tick the “Change light” option and set it to whichever color you want, you can set it up to flash on and off repeatedly as well under “Flash Rate”. Assigning them both as a left mouse click will depend on the game.
That’s it.
Naturally you may need to set up more than one profile on different systems but it’s really simple once you set it up.
For the 3D printed grip case you’ll also need some additional rubber bands to get the trigger to feel nice and snappy, as well as some glue for the grip and the case.
Otherwise it’s fairly simple to set up, just glue the grip to the enclosure for the gamepad, snap your DS4 in the enclosure, mount the… “pew pew bit” as I apparently named it and lastly the triggers are designed specifically to wedge right into the DS4s L2 & R2 buttons. Then just set up the rubber bands as seen in the pictures or Sketchfab preview here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/ds4-lightgun-grip-case-and-trigger-14790fa9b79b4a9fa4179a1c7730e224
Please enjoy 😃 let me know if this helps and what games you play it with, naturally feel free to modify this as needed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7346655
