My First Beer Tap Handle

Drawn in SolidWorks, used a jpeg as a reference and scaled to the size I wanted. Mostly spline tracing for the details (anyone know a better way?).

Printed on optimal 0.16 Bambu Slicer settings for my Bambu A1. 0.4MM nozzle. Generic PLA profiles

Small solutions

My daughter is special needs, having genetic disorder 1Q21.1 duplication syndrome. One of the quirks of this disorder is she’d like to run around while eating. This leads to risks of choking, risk of impaling her mouth roof/cheeks/gums, poor diet as she can essentially pick through what she wants and skip eating anything good for herself, and a degraded hygiene for her and anyone else in the house as food tends to get in carpet, furniture, and anywhere else it can be dropped or kicked.

I’m a career fabricator with 20+ years in fabrication. Looking for solutions, the only one realistically on the market is the safety harnesses made for vehicles for special needs. They are somewhat expensive, often turned down by insurance, and using them during meals would require them be washed for hygiene which would degrade their performance and safety factor. Not to mention figuring out a mount point for them anyways on a dining chair. I had to come up with a solution that could be easily iterated on, repaired easily and replaced easily without costing a fortune. My solution and voyage into 3D printing was this.

It’s printed in ASA, 100% infill, 13 hour print time give or take and printed on an Ender 3 v3 KE. Modeled in Freecad. I’m already on a version 5 as I fine tune the design so works a little more seamlessly.

This buckle has allowed us to get her to the point in one week where she’s actively wanting to sit and buckle to eat, eats her whole meal, lets us know when she’s done and has reduced mess and waste by a 80-90% margin.

Ozempic and Insulin Pen Holder

Got tired of storing my insulin and ozempic pens in the butter dish compartment as they were always in the way of actually getting the butter.

Phone gaming joystick

Is it 10 years too late? 😂 For phones and tablets, uses the tip from a pen with stylus end.

Under license plate document storage for sport bike.

First draft version but after lots of sanding it works and it beats having to remove the rear seat for a piece of paper. The next version will allow for more clearance. Hopefully it is shielded from heat and sunlight enough that the PLA will suffice.

Spice Lid

Our cinnamon lid was broken, so I created a replacement. This was more of an exercise in learning Fusion 360, but is functional. I learned a lot. It’s just a snap lid, so you don’t get the open mouth for more of a pour, but we never used that side anyways.

Glue and Primer Caddy

I couldn't find a glue and primer caddy anywhere that I liked the design of so I took a crack at making my own. I designed it with the intention of it being modular so that it can have attachments to fit any need that you may require. The caddy is made with health and safety requirements in mind so the labels are fully exposed with the cans being snuggly fit between the top and bottom plates. Hopefully this can be a useful organizer for tradesmen or diy households. This is one of my first daily use prints that has made my life a little bit more convenient and I hope it can find the right people and be useful to them as well. If you have suggestions for any other attachments or modifications I'd love to hear about them.

Kindle Fire holder that attaches to IKEA shelves

I didn't consider that the extra space I left in the attachments means it doesn't quite sit straight. Maybe I'll redo it in the future. Very pleased how the killer whale came out. I like adding a detail to something functional, even the detail won't even really be visible.

My latest functional print: A portable camping sink/soap station

I ran into the constant, annoying issue of trying to awkwardly wash my hands while camping, it previously required 2 persons just to get it done.

To solve it, I designed this clamp-on station. It attaches right to the edge of a camping table, keeps your soap clean on top, and upcycles a standard plastic bottle into an easy water dispenser.

Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions to improve it!

Tilting Spice rack

My Wife wanted a spice rack that was able to showcase all of our spices since we're adhd and if we can't see it, it doesn't exist. Since you lose headroom having to be able to remove the bottles, I had them tilt. And since we've got cats I kept them retained in buckets.

Edit: adding the link since users are asking for it. https://makerworld.com/models/2118746?appSharePlatform=copy

Noctua extraction fan mount

I wanted to install an extraction fan in my garage, but most that you can buy are incredibly noisy and expensive. I had this Noctua fan laying around. The duct in the roof has a 125mm end cap.

Drilled a 100mm hole in it, modeled and printed the fan mount/ducting. Now I can screw it on in the summer to help extract the heat, and screw on a regular cap in the winter to block cold.

It blows a significant amount of air. Probably more than off the shelf ones. And it does it whisper quiet.

Finally I have a rack system I'm proud of

I needed a budget-friendly and modular way to store my growing filament collection, so I designed a custom solution. Feels good to look at! (After many many years)

Bought a standard SONGMICS 10-tier shoe rack (the 28x45x173 cm model with 12mm metal tubes) and designed custom connectors to fit it perfectly.

First peek at a 3D printed CB ND3 bracket

It's a work in progress, but it's at a point that it is functional enough to share with you. I still have to round out the edges and optimize for strength and filament usage. But it works, and a perfect fit. The cup holder insert clicks into place.

The CB is the Uniden Pro510XL, but can easily scale for other models.
