So happy to see 9/18 released. Impromptu NFA chant from the crowd has the band open and close the second set with this epic cover. Overall the 88 MSG run is pretty dang neat!
On instagram they teased 12/29/88 which has a funky second set but these shows are awesome too! Hoping they get around to releasing 9/18/88…
Topping over 30 min, this version surpasses the Go Set played in Raleigh, which clocked in at nearly 28 min. The jam traverses sonic space and time, with a nice funky jam appearing around the 20 min mark. It mellows around 22 min to near silence until Sam, Joey and Jerm really start grooving around 24 min. The entire band is all over it and it deserves multiple proper listens. Hard to believe they did this at a show that started past midnight.
I guess Play Dead is a good way to unload shows from the later years…
